The ZF-ECOTRONIC MID manual is an application and installation document—not a universal connector pinout. To identify a suitable connector, part, or service procedure, first match the truck’s transmission variant and build to its type plate, ZF parts-list number, and installation drawing.
Which ZF EcoTronic MID manual is this?
The document is titled Application, Installation, Function and Initial Operation for trucks. It is identified as EN 1324.765.110_KORREKTORAT and dated February 2018. A copy is hosted by a third party; that establishes the document’s identity and contents, not that the copy is an authorized or current ZF download. View the document copy.
The manual covers specified transmission variants, including 9 AS 910 TD and variants in the 9 AS 1110, 9 AS 1310, and 9 AS 1510 families. It should not be treated as a connector guide for every transmission carrying the EcoTronic MID name.
How the transmission and EcoTronic MID relate
ZF describes EcoTronic mid as an automation module for its Ecomid manual transmission. ZF’s product overview characterizes the resulting offering as a synchronized 9-speed automated transmission with a crawler gear, and lists full synchronization, 8+1 gears, and corresponding PTO options for vehicle configurations. In the manual’s base transmission description, gears 1–4 are in the low range and gears 5–8 in the high range; reverse is available in the small group. This description and the product page’s 8+1 summary serve different purposes, so neither should be used to infer the connector layout for a particular truck.
What the electrical connectors serve
Gear selection and shifting are electro-pneumatic. The transmission electronics interface with solenoid valves and travel sensors as part of a larger transmission-control system. The manual identifies the EST 80 control unit, solenoid valves for shifting gears 1/2 and 3/4, a selecting valve, and travel sensors for shifting and selecting.

The electrical interface is only one part of the installation: mechanical and pneumatic connections also form part of the system. The transmission wiring connects with the vehicle-side harness; an optional central electrical interface can connect the actuator and add-on components to that harness. Use the installation documentation for the exact vehicle build rather than treating any connector as a standalone plug-and-play replacement.
How to identify the correct vehicle connector
The manual directs the reader to drawing 6070.313.105 for the vehicle connector interface and its plug/mating-plug table. The document’s general title does not establish a single connector part number or pin assignment for all covered configurations. The excerpts available here also do not establish a universal aftermarket connector SKU or model-specific pinout.

- Read the transmission type plate and record the exact transmission variant.
- Find the matching ZF parts list and confirm the parts-list number and serial number. The manual says the customer specification and parts list define the component combination and supply scope.
- Use drawing 6070.313.105 and the applicable installation drawing for the specific build to compare the plug designation, mating-plug designation, wiring function, and required interface.
- For ordering or repair inquiries, provide the ZF parts-list number and serial number, then verify the part through an appropriate ZF parts or service channel.
ZF’s manual also instructs users to observe vehicle-manufacturer or body-manufacturer provisions in addition to ZF documentation. Do not infer a pinout from “EcoTronic MID” alone.
Check the build before installation or service
The system is application-specific: the vehicle, engine, clutch, transmission, control unit, and driving program are matched and documented in a customer specification. Before installation, the manual directs installers to compare type plates with the parts-list number and verify that engine, transmission, and electronic-control-unit components match the documentation. For product information and service lookup, ZF Aftermarket lists a catalog, technical-information resources, a Partner Finder for gearbox experts or retailers, and SDM365 technical data for authorized partners. Do not choose transmission oil by the EcoTronic MID name
ZF separates lubricant recommendations by type-plate classification. In the ZF Aftermarket listings observed with a 01.10.2026 change date, TE-ML 01 covers manual truck transmissions bearing that designation on the type plate; TE-ML 02 lists manual and automated transmissions for trucks, buses, light commercial vehicles, and special vehicles bearing that designation. Read the actual type plate and consult the corresponding current ZF list before selecting lubricant; the transmission-family name alone does not establish the correct oil.
