Don’t treat a Bugatti Chiron like an ordinary car you can maintain by instinct or by following generic DIY advice. Bugatti’s own service materials describe work handled by trained technicians at official service partners. That does not prove every task must be done by a dealer, but it is a strong reason to check current Bugatti guidance before attempting maintenance or repairs.
What you probably shouldn’t do to a Chiron
The title is a caution, not a reference to a documented stunt. The practical advice is simple: don’t assume that a procedure suitable for a typical car is suitable for a Chiron, and don’t begin a repair without confirming the correct procedure, parts, and service implications for your specific car.
- Don’t rely on generic instructions. Model-specific procedures and technician training matter on a highly specialized car.
- Don’t skip scheduled care. Bugatti’s 2021 service-plan announcement described annual service and a more extensive service every four years; those were terms published at that time, not confirmation of today’s schedule.
- Don’t assume DIY work is automatically harmless to coverage. The available material does not establish current warranty rules or the consequences of independent work. Check the terms that apply to your car before proceeding.
How often did Bugatti say a Chiron needed service?
In its March 4, 2021 announcement of the Passeport Tranquillité program, Bugatti described a Chiron service each year and a “Major” service every four years. Bugatti estimated up to 14 workshop hours for the annual “Low” service and around 72 hours for the four-year “Major” service. These are Bugatti’s historical program descriptions and labor estimates, not a current service schedule or a promise that every car requires precisely those intervals or hours. Confirm current requirements with Bugatti or an authorized service partner. Bugatti’s 2021 Passeport Tranquillité announcement
Can you service a Bugatti Chiron yourself?
The available official material does not say that every maintenance task is impossible outside Bugatti’s network. It does say that the services covered by the 2021 program were performed by officially trained technicians at official Bugatti service partners. That is a meaningful distinction: a basic task and a complex repair are not interchangeable, and generic DIY guidance is not a substitute for the correct procedures and expertise.

Before doing work yourself or choosing an independent shop, weigh the specific job and your circumstances:
- Routine care or repair: Identify exactly what work is needed and whether it involves model-specific systems or procedures.
- Current terms: Ask Bugatti or your authorized partner whether the work affects applicable warranty, service coverage, or program terms. No current warranty conclusion can be drawn from the historical announcements.
- Training and procedures: Confirm that the technician has relevant experience and access to the correct information for your Chiron.
- Access and transport: Consider how the car will reach an authorized partner if one is not nearby.
- Cost and coverage: Request current, job-specific information. The cited materials do not establish comparable prices for authorized and independent work.
Bugatti’s 2022 customer-experience announcement also discussed extended-service coverage and customization options. Those are dated descriptions; they do not establish what is available or what it costs now. Bugatti’s 2022 customer-experience announcement

Check the exact Chiron version before relying on specifications
Fuel and emissions figures differ across Chiron versions, so avoid applying a base-model figure to a variant. Bugatti’s Chiron model page lists 25.2 l/100 km WLTP combined fuel consumption and 572 g/km combined CO₂ emissions for the Chiron. These are official displayed figures for that model, not figures to generalize to every Chiron variant. Bugatti Chiron model page

An owner’s manual is a useful reference for identifying the car’s own instructions, but check that the document applies to your exact vehicle. A copy hosted by FCC Report has a July 2018 footer; its third-party hosting and date do not establish that it is an official current edition or suitable for every variant.
