What Yangwang opened at the Bund
The September 2023 location was Yangwang’s first store in China, according to CnEVPost. It was a showroom intended for sales and product experiences, alongside brand events, test drives and technology-sharing activities. The opening marked the start of the brand’s direct-sales retail network, rather than a conventional dealership announcement. CnEVPost’s opening report described the launch.
What the 90-plus-store target meant
Yangwang said more than 70 of its stores were under construction and that it would open more than 90 directly managed stores in more than 40 Chinese cities within the year. The figure referred to its stated goal for the end of 2023; it was not a confirmed count of stores already open.
An October 2023 update provided an interim milestone: the brand said its first 22 stores had begun trial operations across 21 cities, including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Qingdao. That update did not establish whether Yangwang ultimately met the separate year-end target. CnEVPost reported the trial-operation figures.

How Yangwang’s two store formats differed

These were planned functions, not a measured comparison of store performance. The formats were described in CnEVPost’s September 2023 report.
The separate Shanghai center store opened in Baoshan
In March 2024, the Shanghai municipal government reported Yangwang’s first center store in Shanghai at No. 1381 South Jiangyang Road in Baoshan district. It described a two-floor site with sales and after-sales areas, plus a customer lounge offering shared-office and children’s entertainment functions. This was a later milestone and a different retail format from the Bund showroom. The Shanghai government’s report gives the location and facilities.

Vehicles associated with the launch
Yangwang’s launch-period models included the U8 and U9. CnEVPost reported that the U8 Premium Edition launched on September 20, 2023, with a starting price of RMB 1,098,000. That is a historical launch-price figure, not a statement of current pricing or availability. CnEVPost’s 2023 report covered the models and price.

The available reports establish the announced target and the October interim count of 22 stores in trial operations across 21 cities, but they do not establish the final year-end total. The target should therefore be read as a plan Yangwang announced in 2023, not as a verified result.
