The most detailed Yamaha documentation we could confirm covers the 2025 model year Ténéré 700. Yamaha’s technical review rates its liquid-cooled 689 cm³ parallel twin at 54 kW at 9,000 rpm. The Japanese-market ABS version is listed at 72 PS at 9,000 rpm and 67 N·m at 6,500 rpm. Japan’s 2025 suggested retail price was ¥1,474,000 including 10% consumption tax. The sources we checked do not establish a current US list price, and none of the figures come from independent testing.
Which model year this article covers
Yamaha announced the MY2025 Ténéré 700 on February 13, 2025, for sale in Japan from March 31, 2025. Those Japanese release figures describe the Japanese-market specification and should not be read as a worldwide specification. Yamaha US parts catalogs list 2026 fitment for some accessories, but a parts listing does not establish a full 2026 vehicle specification or a 2026 US price. If you are shopping for a 2026 bike, confirm the specifications with your local Yamaha dealer or Yamaha’s official product page for your market.
Engine and performance figures
Yamaha publishes the Ténéré 700’s power and torque in two documents, and the numbers are not identical. The table below lists each figure with its source and the conditions attached to it.
| Figure | Value | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | Liquid-cooled 689 cm³ parallel twin | Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., MY2025 technical review |
| Power | 54 kW at 9,000 rpm | Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., MY2025 technical review |
| Power | 72 PS at 9,000 rpm | Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., 2025 Japanese-market ABS release |
| Maximum torque | 67 N·m at 6,500 rpm | Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., 2025 Japanese-market ABS release |
| Seat height | 875 mm | Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., 2025 Japanese-market ABS release |
| Ground clearance | 240 mm | Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., 2025 Japanese-market ABS release |
| Vehicle weight | 205 kg | Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., 2025 Japanese-market ABS release; the release does not state the weight definition used for this figure |
The 54 kW and 72 PS figures do not match exactly, and the sources do not explain the difference. Treat the technical review as the more detailed engineering reference, and treat the Japanese release as the source for the Japanese-market specification. Neither is an independent dyno or road test.

What Yamaha changed for 2025
According to Yamaha’s Japanese release and technical review, the MY2025 update includes the following:
- Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T). Yamaha says intake changes improve low-rpm torque to support low-speed off-road riding.
- Two selectable power modes, SPORT and EXPLORER. Yamaha describes SPORT as sharper and more responsive, and EXPLORER as offering a more relaxed throttle response. These are manufacturer descriptions, not measured differences.
- Traction control. Added alongside the power modes.
- Revised front and rear suspension. Yamaha calls this an optimization of both ends of the bike.
- A one-piece flat seat and a revised tank shape. Yamaha says these give the rider more freedom of movement on the bike.
- A 6.3-inch vertical full-color TFT display with connectivity functions.
ABS settings
Yamaha’s technical review lists three ABS settings: ABS on, rear ABS off, and ABS off. The review does not replace the owner’s manual for your market, so check the manual for the exact button sequence and the way each setting behaves before relying on it off-road. Setting names and operating details can differ by region.

Price: Japan and the United States
Yamaha’s February 13, 2025 Japanese release gave a suggested retail price of ¥1,474,000, including 10% consumption tax, for the Japanese-market Ténéré 700 ABS. That is a 2025 Japanese figure only. It does not convert to a US price, and it may not match what a Japanese dealer charges today.
The sources we checked did not include an official current US vehicle MSRP or a statement on US dealer availability for the standard Ténéré 700. Do not estimate a US price from accessory catalogs or from older secondhand market listings. For a current figure, use Yamaha’s US product page or a Yamaha dealer, and note the model year and the date of the quote.

Seat height and the Low package
Seat height is the figure most riders need to check against their inseam, and it is where Yamaha offers a choice. The standard Japanese-market seat height is 875 mm. Yamaha Motor Sales Japan describes a Low accessory package that lowers the seat by about 30 mm in total compared with the standard model. The package combines a low seat, which lowers the seat by about 15 mm, with a lowering link, which lowers it by about 15 mm more.
The lowering link changes the bike’s suspension characteristics, and Yamaha says so explicitly. Treat the Low package as a specific trade-off between seat height and suspension behavior, not as a general fix for a tall seat. Ask a dealer how the package changes the bike’s handling for the way you ride, and check whether it is available for your model year and market.

Photos and how to use them
Yamaha’s Japanese announcement includes images of the 2025 model. Yamaha’s notice states that these images are CG composites and that colors and specifications may differ from the domestic model shown. If you use them, label them as Yamaha press images and keep that qualification with them.
The sources did not identify a separate official photo gallery showing current US-market colors and trim. Use Yamaha’s official product page or press images, and confirm the market and model year of the pictured bike before writing a caption.

Accessories and fitment
Yamaha’s US shop lists model-specific accessories for the Ténéré 700, including a 2025–2026 Rally Seat, side cases, and a top case. The listing confirms that these products exist and shows prices at the time of the search. Those prices and stock levels change, so check the current price, and confirm fitment against your model year and VIN before ordering. Accessories like these change how the bike carries luggage and how it fits the rider. They do not change the engine output in the figures above.
How Yamaha describes the bike
Yamaha frames the Ténéré 700 as an adventure motorcycle that balances off-road capability with touring utility. Its Japanese release uses the tagline “The Total Ténéré – Top in Adventure.” That is Yamaha’s marketing language.
The MY2025 technical review also states: “The ‘Ténéré 700’, launched in 2019, has been highly acclaimed for its unique value proposition — offering true off-road performance combined with excellent on-road versatility.” The sentence is the review’s own summary, not a quote from a named person and not an independent award or test result.
What the published figures cannot tell you
The sources do not include independent road or track testing, instrumented acceleration figures, top speed, or fuel economy measured under real riding conditions. No independent reviewer’s assessment was available, and no named expert quote on the bike’s performance was found. If you need those measurements, look for a road test that states its own test conditions, the bike’s model year, and the market in which it was tested.
Recommended Free Tools
Comparisons with other adventure bikes also need the same market, the same model year, and the same measurement method. The sources here do not contain a competing-bike data set, so they do not support ranking the Ténéré 700 against rivals.
Quick Recap
Before you rely on a figure
- Match the model year on the spec sheet to the bike you are buying.
- Use the Japanese-market figures only for Japanese-market context. Do not treat them as US specifications.
- Get the current US price from Yamaha’s US site or a dealer, and record the date of the quote.
- Check the owner’s manual for your market before you use the ABS settings or power modes.
- Confirm accessory fitment and current price by model year and VIN.
