Yelp completed its acquisition of RepairPal on November 26, 2024, for $80.0 million in total cash purchase consideration, including about $12.3 million in holdback liability, according to Yelp’s 2026 SEC filing. The deal adds a car-repair estimate and mechanic-finding service to Yelp’s auto-services business; it does not mean Yelp bought repair shops or that repair bills will fall.
What is RepairPal?
RepairPal is a consumer service for finding car-repair estimates and mechanics. Yelp described it as connecting consumers with “certified trustworthy mechanics throughout the United States” in its November 26, 2024 acquisition announcement. That description is Yelp’s, not an independent assessment of repair quality.
Yelp’s announcement also said USAA, CarMax and Endurance Vehicle Services direct members or customers to RepairPal Certified shops. The statement describes the relationships Yelp cited at the time of the announcement; it does not establish that a particular shop is the best choice for a given repair.
How much did Yelp pay?
Yelp’s SEC Form 10-Q for the six months ended June 30, 2026 reports $80.0 million in total cash purchase consideration. About $12.3 million of that amount was aggregate holdback liability. The filing’s purchase-price allocation assigned $36.0 million to business relationships, $14.6 million to developed technology and $3.0 million to trademarks, with a weighted average useful life of 7.7 years. Those are acquisition-accounting figures, not current standalone valuations of RepairPal’s products.

Why did Yelp buy RepairPal?
Yelp said the acquisition was intended to expand its advertising offering for auto services. RepairPal gives the company a service focused on repair estimates and a network of mechanics, complementing Yelp’s existing local-business platform.
In its 2024 Form 10-K, Yelp said it planned to improve Request-a-Quote for Auto Services on Yelp and attract more consumers to RepairPal through search engine optimization and search engine marketing. Those were disclosed plans, not evidence that a specific integration is now live or that it has delivered more customers, revenue or savings.

What the deal means for drivers
For drivers, the acquisition may make RepairPal’s estimate and mechanic-finding service part of a broader Yelp auto-services strategy. It does not by itself change repair prices, guarantee an accurate estimate, or confirm that RepairPal is available for every vehicle or location. Current quote availability and geographic coverage are not established by Yelp’s acquisition disclosures.
When comparing repair options, treat an online estimate as a starting point. Confirm that the estimate matches your vehicle and the work needed, ask the shop what is included, and compare the final written quote before authorizing repairs.
