Yamaha’s new R200A is a two-channel stereo receiver aimed at first-time Hi-Fi buyers who want familiar connections for passive speakers, a turntable and, optionally, a subwoofer. Yamaha announced a U.S. MSRP of $299.95 and plans to make it available in November 2026; that is a future launch plan, not confirmation of current retail stock.
What the Yamaha R200A is—and what it replaces
Announced on October 1, 2026, the R200A is a traditional stereo receiver for two-channel listening. Yamaha says it replaces the R-S202. The company describes the model as a starting point for Yamaha Hi-Fi, while Gear Patrol characterizes it as a substantial refresh of the earlier receiver. Those are positioning and design descriptions, not independent performance findings. Yamaha’s announcement and Gear Patrol’s October 1, 2026 report provide the launch details.
What can you connect to the R200A?
Passive stereo speakers
The receiver is designed to drive passive speakers in a stereo setup. Yamaha specifies 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms. This is the manufacturer’s published rating, not an independent bench measurement; check a speaker’s impedance and power requirements against the receiver’s documentation before pairing them.
A turntable
A dedicated phono input lets you connect a compatible turntable directly. The announcement does not say a turntable is included. Confirm that your turntable’s output is appropriate for a phono input; a turntable with a built-in phono preamp may need its output set accordingly.

A subwoofer
A dedicated subwoofer output provides a connection for adding a subwoofer to the system. Yamaha’s announcement does not identify a subwoofer as part of the package.
Two speaker pairs, radio and Bluetooth
Speaker A/B selection lets you choose between two pairs of speakers. Yamaha also lists an AM/FM tuner with 40 programmable presets and Bluetooth Multipoint, which is intended to let users switch between two connected devices. Yamaha identifies these features but does not specify Wi-Fi, MusicCast or network streaming for this model.

How it differs from the R-S202
Gear Patrol reports that the R200A adds a phono input, subwoofer connection, speaker A/B selection and Bluetooth Multipoint compared with the R-S202. Those additions make the new model more accommodating for a system that may grow from basic stereo playback to include a turntable, subwoofer or second speaker pair. The available sources do not establish how it compares with other receivers on measured performance or sound quality.
Who the R200A may suit
- A first stereo system: its passive-speaker setup and built-in tuner cover familiar hi-fi basics.
- A system with a turntable: the dedicated phono input avoids requiring a separate phono stage for a compatible turntable.
- A setup that may expand: the subwoofer output and A/B speaker selection provide options beyond one pair of speakers.
- Someone seeking network streaming: Yamaha’s announcement identifies Bluetooth, but does not identify Wi-Fi, MusicCast or other network-streaming features for the R200A.
Price, availability and what is not yet established
Yamaha announced a $299.95 U.S. MSRP and planned U.S. availability in November 2026, in black or silver. Because November is a future date relative to the October 1 announcement, the announcement alone does not confirm that the receiver is already on sale or in stock. Local-market pricing, launch timing and availability outside the United States are not established by the U.S. announcement.

Yamaha says the receiver delivers sound quality and performance intended to appeal even to long-time enthusiasts. That is the manufacturer’s claim.
