It is not a controlled benchmark, and the available reporting does not establish that either system is safer or better overall. Tesla says its FSD (Supervised) requires an attentive driver and does not make a vehicle autonomous.
What was discussed on Ludicrous Feed?
In his October 2, 2026 post, CleanTechnica contributor Larry Evans describes joining host Tom, Joy, Riz, and Roland to discuss his recent test of an XPENG L03 with VLA 2.0 and a Tesla Model 3 with FSD. The episode is titled “Xpeng VLA 2.0 vs Tesla FSD: Autonomous Driving Real World Comparison.” Evans’s post is the source for what the conversation covered; it does not provide a transcript or a full technical evaluation.
Evans describes Ludicrous Feed as an Australian YouTube channel that began in January 2018 with discussion of Tom’s Tesla Model S and broadened its coverage as more electric vehicles became available in Australia. He says co-hosts Riz and Roland joined later, that he met Tom and Joy in Guangzhou and Riz in Beijing, and that this was his second appearance after discussing CES in January. These are details from Evans’s account of the show.
What is the difference between XPENG VLA 2.0 and Tesla FSD?
The two names refer to driver-assistance systems used in different vehicles, but the reporting here does not provide a matched technical specification or controlled scorecard. Evans’s adjacent Amsterdam coverage describes how the systems felt in a particular set of urban drives, not how they would perform across all roads, conditions, vehicles, or software versions.

What Evans observed in Amsterdam
In his Amsterdam comparison report, Evans characterized XPENG’s behavior as “Anticipate & Act” and Tesla’s as “React & Correct.” He described the XPENG as smoother and more anticipatory, and the Tesla as more cautious and corrective in the conditions he encountered. In a separate account of the Model 3 drive, he reported abrupt stops, lane-choice problems, and steering corrections, while noting that the car felt more comfortable in lighter traffic and that open-road performance may differ. Traffic conditions changed during the loops.
Those descriptions are one reporter’s impressions from a limited drive. They are not instrumented measurements, a controlled same-condition trial, or evidence of a general safety ranking. Evans also cautioned that driving context and perspective affect comparisons.

What a fair comparison would need
A useful system-to-system comparison would hold the route and conditions as constant as possible and report the vehicle, hardware, software version, region, and driver interventions. It would also distinguish comfort and smoothness from lane choice, intersection handling, traffic response, and local driving adaptation. The cited reporting does not provide a shared rubric or quantitative results across those dimensions.
Does Tesla FSD drive without supervision?
No. Tesla calls the product “Full Self-Driving (Supervised)” and says the driver must remain attentive and responsible for the vehicle. Tesla’s support page states: “None of these advanced driver assistance features make your Tesla vehicle fully autonomous or replace you as the driver.” Its listed capabilities include lane changes, following navigation route forks, navigating around vehicles and objects, turning, and assistance with parking and summoning; their availability depends on vehicle configuration, hardware, software version, region, trim, and model year.

Tesla currently lists a US subscription price of $99 per month on that page and says pricing and feature availability can change. That figure is a live, market-specific offer, not a stable or directly comparable measure of how FSD performs against VLA 2.0.

The Ludicrous Feed discussion is useful as a report on a specific test and as a prompt for questions about how the two systems behave in real traffic. The adjacent Amsterdam observations offer a qualitative account of comfort and driving style, with stated limits. They do not establish a winner across markets or conditions, and the available sources contain no independently verified, matched collision or safety comparison between VLA 2.0 and FSD.

Market and software context matter: Tesla explicitly says availability varies across configurations and jurisdictions. The cited material does not independently verify XPENG’s current regional rollout or authorization details, so the XPENG system’s availability should not be inferred from this comparison.
