Fujitsu’s Calypso MB9EF126 was a single-chip controller designed to combine conventional automotive gauges with a color digital display in one instrument cluster. Announced in August 2011, it supported up to six traditional gauges alongside Fujitsu’s IRIS 2D graphics engine. The launch report said first samples were planned for Q3 2011; that historical schedule does not establish present-day availability.
What the Calypso MB9EF126 was designed to do
Hybrid instrument clusters mix familiar physical gauge functions with digital graphics. Fujitsu designed the MB9EF126 to handle both on one chip: it included intelligent support for up to six traditional gauges and an IRIS graphics engine to drive a color display. This integration was intended to serve a cluster combining analog-style gauge functions and graphical information, rather than a display-only graphics processor. The sources describe the intended design and interfaces; they do not establish how a particular vehicle or production cluster implemented the chip.
CPU, memory and package specifications
The contemporaneous launch report identifies the MB9EF126 as the first FCR4-family device based on an ARM Cortex-R4 core. Its operating frequency was up to 160MHz, with performance of more than 200 DMIPS. The memory figures and package details below come from Fujitsu’s factsheet and the launch report. The launch report says Flash, EEFlash and RAM were ECC protected. It does not extend that ECC statement to the separate 2MB graphics memory.
IRIS graphics and display support
IRIS was a 2D graphics engine intended to drive the cluster’s color display. Fujitsu’s implementation had four display layers and a display output with a timing controller (TCON); the stated pixel-clock limit was up to 40MHz. A command sequencer let the CPU and IRIS work in parallel, while the graphics pipeline was designed to use memory efficiently. These are launch-era specifications, not a guarantee of the display capabilities of a complete vehicle system.

The launch report also described an IRIS API for graphics operations such as drawing lines and filling rectangles. CGI Studio was identified as Fujitsu’s software-development platform for graphical interfaces, including 2D and 3D interface development; that description does not mean the MB9EF126’s IRIS engine itself provided 3D acceleration.
Automotive interfaces and AUTOSAR-related features
The reported communication interfaces included LIN, CAN, HS-SPI, I2S and Ethernet. Fujitsu’s factsheet additionally lists six SMCs and three CAN interfaces. For AUTOSAR-related support, the report points to the chip’s memory protection unit (MPU), timing protection unit and peripheral protection unit. These are protection and timing features described in the launch coverage; they should not be read as evidence that every AUTOSAR software component or vehicle-level safety requirement was automatically met.
Launch plans and software enablement
In its August 26, 2011 announcement, Fujitsu said first MB9EF126 samples would be available in Q3 2011. The company also planned dedicated boards, software examples and an AUTOSAR MCAL (Microcontroller Abstraction Layer). The announcement records those plans at launch; it does not confirm whether the materials remain available now.

Is the Fujitsu MB9EF126 still available?
Current lifecycle status, stock, distributor listings, pricing and availability of CGI Studio or the associated development materials are not established by the available historical sources. The 2011 sample schedule is not evidence that the part can still be purchased. Anyone evaluating the chip for a present-day design should confirm lifecycle and supply status directly with Fujitsu or an authorized semiconductor supplier, and check whether current development tools and software support the intended application.
