What the 1,704-km claim means
The G7 is a range-extended electric vehicle (EREV): its wheels are driven by an electric motor, while a gasoline-powered range extender can generate electricity when needed. XPENG’s China-market specification table lists 1,704 km of combined CLTC range and 430 km of battery-only CLTC range for both EREV trims. The combined figure assumes a full tank and full battery under the company’s stated test basis; it should not be read as 1,704 km of electric driving.

XPENG’s “world’s longest-range” wording has a defined but limited scope. The company says it compared full-tank/full-charge CLTC combined range with publicly announced specifications for 145 new-energy SUVs as of January 8, 2026. This is a manufacturer comparison, not an independent endurance test. CLTC figures are produced under specific laboratory conditions, and actual distance varies with temperature, roads, vehicle condition and driving habits. XPENG’s G7 page and official configuration information provide the stated range and qualifications.
How the range extender is configured
The China-market G7 EREV pairs a 55.8 kWh LFP battery with a 60 L fuel tank. XPENG lists a 1.5T range extender with maximum generator output of 85 kW, alongside a 218 kW rear electric motor and rear-wheel drive. Its configuration table gives a 6.9-second 0–100 km/h time and a 202 km/h top speed. The listed fuel-consumption figure is 5.9 L/100 km WLTC in charge-depleted state; XPENG says fuel-consumption figures follow MIIT announcement data and can vary with driving, roads, climate and fuel quality. The tank is specified for 92-octane fuel. XPENG’s China-market configuration table notes that specifications may change by production month.

China-market G7 versions and prices
XPENG lists two range-extended trims and two battery-electric trims. Prices below are Chinese suggested retail prices in RMB, not offers or converted prices for other markets.

The EREV’s maximum figures apply to the standard wheel setup. XPENG lists 1,647 km combined and 410 km battery-only CLTC range when the optional 20-inch wheels are fitted. These remain laboratory-cycle figures, not guarantees of distance in everyday driving. XPENG’s configuration table is the source for the trims, prices and wheel-dependent ranges.

How the EREV compares with the battery-electric G7
The EREV and BEV figures describe different things. The EREV’s 1,704 km combines battery energy and gasoline; its electric-only figure is 430 km. The BEV’s 602 km or 702 km is battery-only CLTC range. A buyer choosing between them is deciding whether the ability to use gasoline-generated electricity is worth more than an all-electric powertrain—not comparing equivalent range measures.
- Choose the EREV configuration if the range extender is important for journeys where charging access may be limited, while recognizing that its headline combined figure depends on both a full battery and full tank.
- Choose a BEV configuration if you want battery-electric-only operation and can plan around its stated 602 km or 702 km CLTC range.
Both powertrain types are listed at the same two China-market price points: RMB 195,800 and RMB 205,800. Local pricing, homologation and delivery availability outside China are not established by the launch announcement.

Charging claim and V2L equipment
XPENG says the G7 can add 314 km of range in 12 minutes when tested with the company’s S5 charger in laboratory conditions. That is a manufacturer test result, not a universal charging promise: charge added and time depend on conditions, charger and vehicle state.
The configuration table also lists 6 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) external discharge. The reverse-charging adapter required to use V2L is a separate purchase, according to XPENG. The company directs customers to its official website, Tmall flagship store, direct sales stores or authorized third-party stores for the adapter; availability and compatibility of other adapters are not established.

Launch and availability
CnEVPost reported that XPENG launched the range-extended G7 in China on January 8, 2026, alongside an updated P7+ sedan. The official page presents the Super Range-Extended and battery-electric G7 as separate editions. The launch information and China-market price table do not establish export-market homologation, delivery dates or local pricing, so availability should be checked with XPENG in the relevant market rather than assumed from the China launch.
