The XPENG L03 is not a single global-price proposition. In XPENG Germany’s 16 July 2026 launch announcement, the car starts at €35,600 including 19% VAT for the rear-wheel-drive Standard Range. Depending on country, tax treatment, incentives, trim and financing, the closest alternatives can cost materially more or less on paper.
For a fair shortlist, use the German L03 price as a clearly labelled reference, then check each rival in the same market and specification. The BYD ATTO 3 EVO is the closest compact-SUV comparison, Tesla’s Model Y is a larger step-up in Ireland, and the Škoda Elroq is worth examining when charging and practicality matter more than an exact sticker-price match.

XPENG L03 prices and specifications to use as the reference
XPENG Germany lists four L03 versions. All figures below come from the company’s 2026 launch announcement and include German 19% VAT. The stated combined-consumption figures were still subject to final WLTP homologation, so confirm the final registration specification before ordering.
| German version | Drive | Battery | Claimed combined WLTP range | Launch price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RWD Standard Range | Rear-wheel drive | 58.3 kWh LFP | Up to 445 km | €35,600 |
| RWD Long Range | Rear-wheel drive | 71.2 kWh | Up to 520 km | €38,600 |
| AWD Performance | All-wheel drive | 71.2 kWh | Up to 440 km | €41,600 |
| AWD Performance Ultra | All-wheel drive | 71.2 kWh | Up to 440 km | €46,600 |
The price ladder matters when selecting alternatives. The Long Range costs €3,000 more than the Standard Range and raises the stated range from 445 km to 520 km. The AWD Performance adds another €3,000, while the Performance Ultra is €5,000 above that version. Those are German launch-price differences, not a universal European tariff, but they show why a rival may be a match for one L03 trim and not another.

- Safe & Durable: Rely on this UL-certified EV charger for safe home charging. It can be installed indoors or outdoors by an electrician and includes a cold-resistant cable.
- Fast & Powerful: This EV charger charges 9× faster than a 120V outlet, delivering up to 45 mi/hr., dependent upon your vehicle. It features a J1772 connector for all non-Tesla EVs and requires a 20A or 80A circuit. For Tesla EVs, this will require an adapter.
XPENG says the L03 can accept up to 236 kW of DC charging and take 18 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%. Those are published manufacturer figures, not independent test results. Actual charging depends on the vehicle’s battery temperature, state of charge, charger output and site conditions. A site rated above 236 kW will not necessarily make the car charge faster, and a cold battery can reduce the power available at the start of a session.
The range figures are also claims for the specified drivetrain and battery. They should not be treated as guaranteed motorway or winter distances. No independent road-test range comparison or head-to-head safety result was established for these models in the available material. For a purchase decision, record the exact battery, drive layout and wheel specification on the quote, then compare the final local certificate rather than a generic model name.
Why the same “price” can mean different things
The L03 is already being quoted with different numbers in different sources and countries. That is normal for a new electric car, but it makes a cross-border table misleading unless every figure is labelled. A list price may include VAT but exclude registration; a campaign price may require financing; and a configurator may show delivery or documentation fees that are absent from a headline recommendation.

China presale figures are not European retail prices
XPENG’s 2 July 2026 China presale announcement listed the MONA L03 at the following prices:
| China presale version | Powertrain | Presale price |
|---|---|---|
| 525Max | BEV | ¥143,800 |
| 625Max | BEV | ¥153,800 |
| 1330Max | Range-extender | ¥149,800 |
| 525Ultra SE | BEV | ¥155,800 |
| 625Ultra SE | BEV | ¥165,800 |
| 1330Ultra SE | Range-extender | ¥161,800 |
XPENG said the deposit promotion ran through 16 July 2026. These are Chinese presale values, not prices that can be converted directly into a German or other European on-road cost. Import duty, VAT, equipment, homologation, distribution and local incentives can all change the final figure. The Chinese names and powertrain labels should not be assumed to correspond exactly to the German Standard Range, Long Range or Performance trims.
EAFO lists different European market values
The European Alternative Fuels Observatory lists the L03 as available from July 2026, but its market-model data differs from XPENG Germany’s announcement:
| EAFO-listed version | Listed price | Listed range |
|---|---|---|
| RWD Standard Range | €36,300 | 350 km |
| RWD Long Range | €39,300 | 420 km |
| AWD Performance | €42,300 | 390 km |
EAFO’s figures should be read as EAFO listing data, not silently merged with the German launch release. Before buying, check the country-specific configurator, the exact battery and drivetrain, and the homologated WLTP value on the vehicle’s documents. The difference between the two datasets is a reason to verify the car, not evidence that one publisher is necessarily describing the same final configuration.

The main alternatives at or near the L03’s price
| Model | Market evidence | What it offers | Price comparability |
|---|---|---|---|
| BYD ATTO 3 EVO | Spain: Design €42,990 recommended retail; Excellence €45,990 recommended retail | Compact electric SUV; six-year vehicle warranty and eight-year/250,000-km battery warranty, subject to stated terms | Usually above the German L03 list price; a displayed €29,455 campaign figure has strict eligibility conditions |
| Tesla Model Y | Ireland: €45,332 purchase-price example including listed fees; 498 km WLTP for the shown configuration | Larger vehicle and longer-range step-up in the cited configuration | Not an exact same-price match; live configurator pricing changes |
| Škoda Elroq | No market-specific price stated in the reviewed material | Compact electric SUV; 82 kWh 85x charges at up to 165 kW and 10–80% in 29 minutes | Requires a local price check before calling it similar-priced |
These are models to investigate rather than a universal ranking. The manufacturer pages cover Germany, Spain and Ireland, so their numbers cannot be treated as one national comparison. A buyer in another country should use the table as a checklist of models, then rebuild the comparison with local currency, tax, equipment and delivery terms.
BYD ATTO 3 EVO: the compact-SUV alternative
The ATTO 3 EVO is the most natural alternative if you want a compact electric SUV rather than simply the lowest L03 entry price. BYD Spain lists the Design trim at a €42,990 recommended retail price and the Excellence at €45,990. Against the German L03 reference, the Design is €7,390 higher and the Excellence is €10,390 higher, before accounting for differences in country, equipment and fees.
The same Spanish page displays a lowest Peninsula and Balearic price of €29,455 for Design. That lower number depends on campaigns, Plan Auto+, CAE support and financing. It is not a general cash price and cannot be compared directly with the €35,600 German L03 list price. Eligibility, registration region, trade-in rules, finance cost and campaign dates must be checked line by line. Ask whether the displayed amount includes every mandatory charge and whether the finance arrangement changes the total amount paid.
Warranty distinction
BYD states a six-year vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 250,000 km battery warranty, subject to its published terms. Compare the exclusions, minimum capacity commitment, servicing requirements and transfer rules with the warranty offered for the L03 in your country; headline duration alone does not establish which car provides better protection. Request the written warranty schedule, including what happens if the car is sold before the time or mileage limit.
Who should consider it
- Choose the ATTO 3 EVO when a raised driving position, SUV cargo shape and local BYD campaign support are more important than matching the L03’s German starting price.
- Ask the dealer for the uncapped cash price, total finance repayment, mandatory fees and the exact incentive assumptions behind any lower advertised amount.
- Do not use the Spanish campaign figure as a proxy for pricing in Germany, Ireland or another country.
- Compare the vehicle warranty and battery warranty separately. A long battery term does not automatically mean the same coverage for the rest of the car.
Tesla Model Y: a larger step-up, not a direct match
Tesla’s Irish configurator shows a purchase-price example of €45,332 including the listed fees, with 498 km WLTP for the displayed configuration. Prices and delivery estimates are live and can change, so record the configuration date when comparing it with another quote.
That Irish figure is above the €35,600 German L03 Standard Range and close to the L03 AWD Performance Ultra’s €46,600 German launch price. It therefore makes sense as a step-up comparison, not as evidence that the two cars cost the same everywhere. Equipment, financing, registration charges and local incentives can move the gap. The Model Y configuration shown by Tesla should be compared with the L03 trim that fits your budget, not automatically with the cheapest L03.
Charging equipment and compatibility
Tesla’s page presents a Wall Connector as its recommended home-charging solution. That does not establish compatibility with the L03. If you are considering a home charger for either car, verify the vehicle’s connector, charging specification, electrical supply, installation requirements and any country-specific permissions before purchase. A charger quote should state the unit, installation work, cable length, protection equipment and any required upgrade to the home supply.

- WORKS WITH EVERY NON-TESLA EV: Standard J1772 connector plugs straight into Ford, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Rivian, Lucid and every other EV or plug-in hybrid sold with a J1772 port - no adapter needed. Tesla drivers can charge too, using the J1772 adapter that comes with the car.
- PLUG IN, NO HARDWIRING: Level 2 charger delivers up to 40A to fully charge most EVs overnight. Plugs into a 240V, 4-prong NEMA 14-50 outlet (the RV/range type - NOT a dryer outlet) on a dedicated 50A circuit. The extra-long 25 ft cable easily reaches across a garage or driveway. Before ordering, check your car's port type and that you have the right outlet.
- CONTROL & SAVE FROM YOUR PHONE: A stronger built-in antenna keeps the charger online even in a garage or basement. Use the free app to start/stop charging, set speed (6-40A), get reminders, and track energy use and cost. Schedule off-peak overnight charging to cut your electric bill. Requires 2.4 GHz WiFi.
- SAFETY-CERTIFIED & WEATHERPROOF: Independently tested and certified (UL, ETL, FCC, Energy Star). A fully sealed IP66 / NEMA 4 housing stands up to rain, snow, heat and dust indoors or out, and internal steel shielding protects the electronics for years of reliable use.
- GLOW-IN-THE-DARK HOLSTER: The included high-visibility holster glows in the dark so you can find and dock the plug easily at night. Holds the connector securely when not in use.
Who should consider it
- Consider the Model Y if the Irish-market configuration’s 498 km WLTP claim and larger-vehicle format justify paying above the L03 entry price.
- Use the live configurator immediately before ordering; a saved price can become obsolete when Tesla changes inventory, fees or delivery estimates.
- Compare total delivered cost, not only the headline purchase-price example.
- Check whether the larger body is useful for your parking space, garage and regular passengers before treating the extra cost as an upgrade.
Škoda Elroq: examine it when charging and practicality lead
The Elroq is a credible compact electric SUV alternative, but the available material does not state a market-specific price. It should therefore not be described as a same-price L03 rival until you check the buyer’s local price list and trim. Obtain a written quote for the 85x or another version, including VAT, delivery and mandatory options, before making a price claim.
Škoda says the 82 kWh 85x version charges at up to 165 kW and takes 29 minutes to go from 10% to 80%. The smaller variants are described as taking 26 minutes or less under the company’s stated conditions. Those charging times are not directly equivalent to XPENG’s 20–80% claim, because the test windows differ.
How to compare the charging claims correctly
| Model or version | Published charging claim | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| XPENG L03 | Up to 236 kW; 20–80% in 18 minutes | XPENG Germany launch claim; final homologation and real-world conditions matter |
| Škoda Elroq 85x | Up to 165 kW; 10–80% in 29 minutes | Škoda claim for the 82 kWh version |
Peak kilowatts are not the same as an entire charging session. Ask for the charging curve, usable battery capacity and cold-weather performance if frequent motorway charging is central to your decision. Also check which public-network connectors are available on your regular routes and whether the car’s navigation can identify suitable charging stops.
What to check beyond the sticker price
An electric-car budget has more than one number. Start with the local on-road purchase price, then list every condition attached to that number. A price that requires a specific finance contract may produce a lower deposit but a higher total repayment. An incentive may be limited by registration region, vehicle eligibility, trade-in or a campaign end date. A deposit promotion may reduce the initial commitment without changing the final vehicle price.
Next, compare the equipment included in each quoted trim. The L03 table shows that battery capacity and drive layout change with price, while the alternative pages describe different body styles and versions. Ask for the standard equipment list, wheel size, charging cables, driver-assistance features and any mandatory packs. If an option is essential to you, include its price in every rival’s total rather than comparing a base model with a fully equipped one.
Recommended Free Tools
Ownership practicality is equally market-specific. Confirm service locations, roadside assistance, warranty administration and expected delivery timing. For home charging, check whether your property has a suitable electrical supply and permission for installation. For public charging, estimate how often you will rely on rapid charging and whether the stated peak rate is available at the sites you actually use.
How to make an apples-to-apples shortlist
- Choose the market first. Decide where the car will be registered. A German VAT-inclusive list price, a Spanish incentive price and an Irish configurator total answer different questions.
- Select the exact trim and drivetrain. Record battery size, drive layout, wheels and any mandatory options. The L03 ranges from 58.3 kWh RWD Standard Range to 71.2 kWh AWD versions, so “L03 price” is not enough.
- Write down the unadjusted price. Capture the manufacturer’s recommended retail or purchase price before incentives, trade-in credits or finance discounts.
- Separate conditional discounts. Label every campaign, scrappage payment, tax credit, CAE payment, deposit promotion and finance condition. Calculate the cash price and total finance repayment separately.
- Compare certified range on the same basis. Use the specific WLTP value for the chosen trim. Do not mix XPENG’s German announcement with EAFO’s different listing numbers, and do not treat WLTP as a real-world guarantee.
- Check charging in the way you actually drive. Compare battery size, maximum DC input, charging window and access to suitable public chargers. A peak-power number is useful only if the battery and charger can sustain it.
- Read the warranty terms. Record vehicle and battery duration, mileage limits, capacity guarantees, exclusions and servicing obligations.
- Confirm practical fit. Check seating, luggage space, towing or roof-load needs, parking dimensions, winter equipment and whether an SUV body is genuinely useful to you.
- Calculate the delivered total. Add registration, delivery, finance charges, home-charger installation and any required options. Keep recurring energy and insurance estimates separate from the purchase price.
- Recheck availability before paying a deposit. New-model trims, delivery dates and local specifications can change quickly, especially around a market launch.
Common comparison mistakes and how to avoid them
Converting a Chinese presale price into a European bargain
A renminbi presale price omits the European cost structure. Treat it as information about the Chinese offer only; do not multiply it by an exchange rate and call the result a European retail price.

Tesla drivers can charge too, using the J1772 adapter that comes with the car. The extra-long 25 ft cable easily reaches across a garage or driveway.
- HARDWIRED - PROFESSIONAL INSTALL: This Level 2 charger is hardwired (not plug-in), so a licensed electrician installs it per National Electrical Code. It delivers up to 48A on a dedicated 60A, 240V circuit - enough to charge most EVs fully overnight. Want more speed? You can set DIP switches 4 and 5 to unlock 50A on a dedicated 70A circuit. Before ordering, check your car's port type and that your electrical panel can support the circuit.
- CONTROL FROM YOUR PHONE: A stronger built-in antenna keeps the charger online even in a garage or basement. Use the free app to start and stop charging, set the charging speed (6-48A), get reminders, and track how much energy and money each charge uses. Requires a 2.4 GHz home WiFi network.

Using an incentive price as the normal price
The €29,455 ATTO 3 EVO Design figure shown in Spain depends on named programmes and financing. Ask whether you qualify, how long the campaign lasts and what repayment or trade-in conditions apply.
Combining incompatible range figures
XPENG Germany claims up to 445 km for the L03 RWD Standard Range and up to 520 km for the RWD Long Range, while EAFO lists 350 km and 420 km for corresponding entries. That difference may reflect a different market model, test value or data update. Use the final local certificate for the car you are ordering.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesAssuming charging claims are directly comparable
The L03’s 18-minute claim covers 20–80%; the Elroq 85x figure covers 10–80%. Different starting states, battery temperatures and charger limits can produce different elapsed times even when both claims are accurate.
Comparing body styles without acknowledging the trade-off
The L03 is being compared with compact SUVs and a larger SUV. A raised seating position or larger cargo opening may matter more to one household than a lower entry price. Decide whether you need SUV practicality before assigning a value to the ATTO 3 EVO, Model Y or Elroq.
Interpreting a manufacturer claim as an independent test
The published ranges, charging times and warranty descriptions are manufacturer or listing data. They are not independent road-test, safety or degradation results. Keep that distinction in your buying notes.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which alternative makes the most sense?
If your local price is close to the German €35,600 reference and you want a compact electric car with the L03’s published 236 kW charging capability, start with the L03 Standard Range and Long Range configurations, then verify final homologation and equipment. The Long Range costs €3,000 more in Germany and carries a higher stated range, but the extra battery is worthwhile only if its local price and your driving pattern justify it.

Which car is the closest compact-SUV alternative to the XPENG L03?
The BYD ATTO 3 EVO is the closest body-style comparison in the listed markets. BYD Spain gives recommended retail prices of €42,990 for Design and €45,990 for Excellence, while a €29,455 displayed figure depends on campaigns, Plan Auto+, CAE support and financing.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Is the Tesla Model Y the same price as the L03?
No. Tesla Ireland shows a €45,332 purchase-price example including listed fees for a configuration with 498 km WLTP. That is a step-up from the German L03 Standard Range and close to the German Performance Ultra price, not a universal same-price match.
How fast does the XPENG L03 charge?
XPENG states up to 236 kW DC charging and 20–80% in 18 minutes. These are manufacturer figures and depend on battery temperature, state of charge, charger output and site conditions.
How does the Škoda Elroq charging claim compare?
Škoda says the 82 kWh Elroq 85x can charge at up to 165 kW and go from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes. The smaller versions are described as taking 26 minutes or less. The charging windows differ from XPENG’s 20–80% claim, so the times are not directly equivalent.
Can I convert the Chinese XPENG L03 presale price into euros?
An exchange-rate conversion is not a European retail comparison. The Chinese presale values exclude the European combination of import duty, VAT, homologation, distribution and local equipment differences, so use a country-specific European price instead.

No. XPENG Germany states up to 445 km for RWD Standard Range, up to 520 km for RWD Long Range and up to 440 km for both AWD versions. EAFO lists different values, so confirm the final local homologated specification.
What should I verify before paying a deposit?
Confirm the registration country, exact trim and battery, unadjusted cash price, incentives and finance conditions, final WLTP document, charging equipment, warranty terms, mandatory options, delivery timing and all on-road fees.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Use €35,600 for the German XPENG L03 RWD Standard Range as a reference point, not a global price. The BYD ATTO 3 EVO is the most direct compact-SUV alternative, Tesla’s Model Y is a larger Irish-market step-up, and the Škoda Elroq needs a local price check. Compare the same market, trim, incentives, range test, charging window and warranty terms before deciding.
