1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteShort answer: The XPENG G9L is the easier vehicle to evaluate in Germany today because XPENG has published launch prices, WLTP range figures, seating choices and charging specifications. The Tesla Model X remains a larger premium electric SUV with several seating layouts and a documented Supercharging claim, but the official material available for this comparison does not establish a current German list price or a directly comparable German WLTP range. That means you can compare dimensions, seating and the manufacturers’ charging claims, but not declare a reliable price-per-range winner yet.
This comparison applies to Germany and the wider European launch context as of 13 October 2026. It keeps European WLTP data separate from China-market CLTC figures, and it treats manufacturer performance statements as claims rather than independent road-test results.

XPENG G9L vs. Tesla Model X at a glance
| Category | XPENG G9L (Germany launch) | Tesla Model X (official material cited here) |
|---|---|---|
| European status | German orders opened 12 October 2026; RWD and AWD battery-electric versions, with six- or seven-seat configurations listed for Germany. | Model X is sold in Europe, but the retrieved sources do not provide a complete current German price and WLTP range table. |
| Seats | RWD Long Range Ultra: seven seats; AWD Performance Ultra: six or seven seats. | Owner’s manual covers five-, six- and seven-seat layouts, depending on configuration. |
| Published range | RWD Long Range Ultra: up to 591 km combined WLTP. AWD Performance Ultra: up to 553 km combined WLTP. XPENG says these figures remain subject to final homologation. | No directly comparable current German WLTP figure was established in the cited material. |
| Charging statement | 800-volt architecture, up to 540 kW DC and under 12 minutes from 10% to 80%, according to XPENG’s German launch release. | Tesla’s German Model X page says up to 267 km can be added in 15 minutes of Supercharging and notes that actual results vary. |
| Length / wheelbase | 5,120 mm / 3,100 mm. | 5,057 mm / 2,965 mm, according to the cited Model X owner’s manual. |
| Luggage figures | 367 litres VDA trunk capacity; up to 1,330 litres with the third row folded in the six-seat AWD version; 65-litre frunk. | 420 litres behind the third row and a 183-litre front trunk in the cited UK owner’s manual. Layout and regional manual affect the figure. |
| Published German price | €74,600 for RWD seven-seat; €79,600 for AWD six-seat; €85,600 for AWD seven-seat. Launch prices include 19% VAT. | Not stated in the sources used for this article; check Tesla’s live German configurator before treating any price elsewhere as current. |
The table is deliberately conservative. XPENG’s trunk number uses the VDA convention, while Tesla’s manual presents configuration-specific volumes; the two sets of litres should not be treated as a laboratory head-to-head without matching the measuring method and seat position.

XPENG launched the G9L in China on 17 September 2026 and presented it in Europe at the Paris Motor Show on 12 October. The company said the model would be sold in 64 global markets. German orders opened on 12 October through XPENG’s European launch programme. Those dates and the German equipment descriptions refer to different market specifications, so a Chinese brochure is not a substitute for the German price list.

For Germany, XPENG describes the G9L as a battery-electric SUV with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The German release specifies a seven-seat RWD Long Range Ultra and six- or seven-seat AWD Performance Ultra versions. The published European range and price information in this article belongs to those configurations.
The China announcement describes a five-seat G9L and includes both battery-electric and range-extended versions. It also quotes a China starting price of RMB 231,800 and range labels of 702 km, 660 km and 755 km for China-market variants. Those figures use China-market specifications and the CLTC convention; they cannot be placed beside a European WLTP value as though they were the same test.
How far can the XPENG G9L go on one charge?
German WLTP figures
XPENG’s German launch release lists up to 591 km combined WLTP for the RWD Long Range Ultra. The AWD Performance Ultra is listed at up to 553 km combined WLTP. XPENG explicitly says the figures remain subject to final homologation, so they are launch specifications rather than a guarantee for every delivered vehicle.
Recommended Free Tools
The difference between the two published results is consistent with the usual configuration trade-off: the AWD version adds a driven axle and performance hardware, while the RWD Long Range Ultra is the range-focused seven-seat model. The figures are not a promise that either vehicle will cover that distance on a motorway in winter. WLTP is a standardized comparison cycle; speed, temperature, rain, payload, wheel choice, heating and air-conditioning can all reduce the distance shown on the display.

What is known about Model X range in Germany?
The sources available for this comparison establish Model X dimensions, seating-related cargo information and Tesla’s German charging statement, but they do not establish a complete, current German WLTP range table. Do not import a figure from a United States page, an older model year or a different European market and label it as the current German specification.
That evidence gap prevents a fair numerical range ranking. A buyer should record the exact Model X variant, wheel option and delivery market from Tesla’s current German order screen, then compare that value with the final homologated G9L figure for the chosen seat and drivetrain configuration.
How long does the G9L take to charge?
XPENG’s 800-volt claim
XPENG says the European G9L uses an 800-volt electrical system capable of up to 540 kW DC charging. Its launch release claims a 10% to 80% session in under 12 minutes. This is a manufacturer claim, not an independent charging test.
“Up to 540 kW” is a peak-input rating, not the power the car will hold throughout a session. Actual time depends on the charger’s maximum output, battery temperature, starting state of charge, cable and site sharing, and the vehicle’s charge curve. A charger rated below the vehicle’s peak cannot deliver 540 kW, and a warm battery near the top of the pack will normally accept less power than a battery in its strongest part of the curve.

Tesla’s 15-minute Supercharging statement
Tesla’s German Model X page says up to 267 km can be added in 15 minutes of Supercharging. The page also explains that charging speed and range added vary with conditions. Tesla’s statement measures kilometres added during a time window; XPENG’s statement measures the percentage change from 10% to 80%. They are not equivalent tests and should not be converted into a single winner.
For a meaningful shopping comparison, ask the retailer for the battery size, charge-curve conditions and charger assumptions behind the advertised result. On a test drive, note the starting state of charge, outside temperature, battery preconditioning and the charger’s actual delivered power. Record both the percentage gained and kilometres added rather than relying on one headline number.
Is the XPENG G9L bigger than a Tesla Model X?
Exterior dimensions
| Measurement | XPENG G9L | Tesla Model X | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall length | 5,120 mm | 5,057 mm | G9L is 63 mm longer. |
| Wheelbase | 3,100 mm | 2,965 mm | G9L has 135 mm more distance between the axles. |
XPENG supplies the G9L dimensions in its 2026 German and global launch material. Tesla’s 5,057 mm length and 2,965 mm wheelbase come from the cited Model X owner’s manual. The G9L is therefore longer on paper and has the longer wheelbase, but exterior measurements do not by themselves prove that every passenger will have more usable space. Seat design, cushion length, door trim, roofline and third-row access still matter.
G9L seating and luggage
The European G9L range is organized around six- and seven-seat layouts. XPENG’s German release gives the vehicle a 367-litre VDA trunk and a 65-litre frunk. In the six-seat AWD version, folding the third row increases the stated luggage capacity to as much as 1,330 litres.

- Buyer's Guide: The seat guard for car seat between seat & console measures 15.75*2.7*1.53", suitable for gaps of 1.43-1.53" in width, please double-check carefully the distance between your seat and the center console before placing an order

- Easy to Install: Car side seat gap filler is easy to install, simply insert it into the gap between the seat and the center console, gap seat filler for car can fit tightly without affecting the normal adjustment of the seat and the use of the seat belt
- Premium Material: Crafted from premium EVA material, our car seat side gap filler boasts a combination of wear-resistant, softness&durability. Maintenance is effortless, simply rinse and wipe to quickly clean the dust and debris in corners and crevices
Those figures answer different practical questions. The behind-seat number tells you what remains with all seats occupied; the folded-row figure describes a load-carrying mode that removes third-row seating. A stroller, suitcases or a dog crate may fit very differently depending on whether the second-row captain’s chairs are fitted and how the third-row backrests fold.
Model X seating and luggage
Tesla’s owner’s manual covers five-, six- and seven-seat Model X configurations. The cited UK manual lists 420 litres behind the third row and a 183-litre front trunk. Other official manuals can show a slightly different third-row figure, such as 425 litres, which is why the market and manual edition should accompany any number.
Do not compare Tesla’s 420-litre behind-third-row figure directly with the G9L’s 367-litre VDA trunk and then conclude that one vehicle has a universally larger boot. The measurement conventions differ, and the seat layouts are not identical. A proper comparison uses the same occupied rows, the same loading line and the same volume standard.

German G9L launch prices

These are the prices in XPENG’s German launch release dated 12 October 2026. XPENG’s Germany model page also displayed €85,600 as the starting price for a selected AWD version; that is a selected-trim presentation, not the entry price for the entire G9L lineup. The lineup entry point is the RWD seven-seat price shown above.

Why there is no honest Model X price gap yet
The Tesla material retrieved for this comparison does not state a current, directly comparable German Model X list price. It also does not provide the full German WLTP range table needed to calculate a meaningful price-per-kilometre comparison. A number copied from another country, a used-car advert or an earlier model year could describe a different specification and tax treatment.
Before ordering, capture the live German Tesla configuration screen, including the selected seating layout, wheels, delivery charges and any options. Compare that total with the G9L configuration that has the same number of seats and the nearest drivetrain. Until both figures are current and market-matched, the only defensible price conclusion is that XPENG has published the German entry and AWD prices while the cited Tesla evidence leaves the Model X side open.
Which vehicle fits which buyer?
Choose the G9L when published German data is your priority
- You want a seven-seat electric SUV with a stated German launch price rather than an estimate.
- You value the longest published European WLTP figure in this comparison and are willing to choose rear-wheel drive.
- You want a stated 800-volt, high-power charging specification and will use chargers capable of supporting it.
- You need a longer wheelbase on the published dimensions and want the option of a six- or seven-seat AWD layout.
Consider the Model X when its configuration is the deciding factor
- You specifically need the Model X seating arrangement that suits your family, because Tesla’s manual covers five-, six- and seven-seat versions.
- You regularly use Tesla Supercharging and the German page’s “up to 267 km in 15 minutes” claim matches the way you plan trips, while accepting that actual results vary.
- You are prepared to verify the current German price and WLTP figure directly before comparing the vehicle with a G9L.
Neither list is a quality ranking. It translates the documented differences into purchase questions without inventing a Model X price, range or performance result that the cited sources do not support.
How to make a fair G9L–Model X test-drive comparison
- Match the specification first. Compare the G9L RWD seven-seat with a Model X configuration that has the same seat count, or compare AWD versions with the same number of rows. Write down wheel and tyre sizes as well.
- Save the market data. Keep a dated copy of the German order summary, including VAT, delivery charges, options and the vehicle’s official range value. Do not mix a China CLTC figure with a German WLTP figure.
- Inspect every seating position. Sit in the second and third rows, measure the step-in height, try child-seat access and check whether the seats you need remain usable when the luggage area is loaded.
- Measure the boot in the configuration you actually use. Check behind the third row first, then fold only the rows you would sacrifice on a normal trip. Ask which measurement standard the salesperson is quoting.
- Repeat a charging session under controlled conditions. Begin at a similar state of charge, use chargers with comparable power, record battery temperature and preconditioning, and log both percentage gained and kilometres added.
- Test the route you drive most. A short urban loop will not expose motorway consumption, wind noise, winter heating demand or charging-stop spacing. Use the same route and weather window for both vehicles where possible.
- Check delivery and homologation status. XPENG’s published WLTP figures are subject to final homologation. Confirm the final certificate, equipment and delivery specification on the contract.
Details to verify before placing an order
- For the G9L, confirm whether the selected vehicle is the RWD seven-seater, AWD six-seater or AWD seven-seater; the published price and luggage configuration depend on that choice.
- Confirm the final homologated WLTP value rather than relying solely on the launch release.
- Ask which DC charger power is required to approach XPENG’s peak charging claim and whether the route’s charging sites can provide it.
- For the Model X, obtain the current German configurator price and WLTP value for the exact build. Treat figures from another region or model year as non-comparable until Tesla confirms them.
- Use the owner’s manual for the exact Model X market and seating layout when ordering accessories such as a cargo liner; a liner designed for one row arrangement may not fit another.
- Compare warranty, service intervals, insurance, financing and delivery dates from current German contracts. None of those commercial terms is established by the launch specifications alone.
Verdict
On the evidence available for Germany in October 2026, the XPENG G9L is the more transparent proposition: its European release states the configurations, launch prices, WLTP targets, dimensions and charging claim. It is also the longer vehicle and offers the longer published wheelbase. The Tesla Model X remains a credible alternative for buyers who need its available five-, six- or seven-seat layouts or prefer the Supercharging claim, but a current German price and directly comparable WLTP range must be confirmed before anyone can calculate a genuine value or range advantage.
The sensible buying order is therefore simple: select the required seat layout, obtain current German configuration data for both cars, compare luggage with the same rows occupied, and treat both manufacturers’ charging headlines as conditional results rather than guaranteed trip times.
