Yes, Xiaomi’s SU7 is a real production electric car and is already being delivered. But the phrase “is here” needs a geographic footnote: as of August 9, 2026, the latest new-generation SU7 is officially on sale only in mainland China. There is no announced U.S. retail launch, while a European entry is planned from 2027 but still lacks final prices, trims, approval details and delivery dates.
The current Chinese-market SU7 launched on March 19, 2026. It is a five-seat electric sedan available in Standard, Pro and Max versions, with launch prices from RMB 219,900 and headline range of up to 902 km on China’s CLTC test cycle. Those prices and range figures are not U.S. prices or EPA range ratings.
The short answer: the SU7 has arrived, but not globally
Xiaomi’s SU7 is Xiaomi’s first production vehicle: a four-door, five-seat battery-electric sedan aimed at buyers who want premium equipment, strong performance and deep smartphone and smart-home integration rather than a basic low-cost city car.
The original SU7 entered production in 2024 and quickly became a high-volume Chinese-market EV. Xiaomi replaced it with the new-generation SU7 in early 2026. The latest car is already being built and delivered in mainland China, but Xiaomi’s own launch material says the new-generation SU7 is not sold outside mainland China.

- Europe: Xiaomi has indicated a market entry from 2027, with Germany reported as a possible early market, but retail details are not final.
- United States: no official retail launch, price or dealer and service network has been announced in the sources reviewed.
- United Kingdom and other markets: no current official SU7 retail availability has been established.
That makes the most accurate description: the SU7 is a successful Chinese-market EV today and an international product to watch, not a car most American or European buyers can simply order from Xiaomi.
What exactly is the Xiaomi SU7?
The SU7 is a large electric sedan built around Xiaomi’s Human × Car × Home ecosystem. Its software is based on HyperOS, the operating system Xiaomi uses across parts of its device ecosystem. Depending on market and software version, the concept is intended to connect the car with Xiaomi phones, tablets, apps and compatible smart-home products.
Xiaomi first presented the car’s underlying technology in December 2023, before formally launching the original production model on March 28, 2024. First deliveries began in April 2024. The company positioned the SU7 as a technology-heavy smart EV with the size, equipment and performance to challenge established electric sedans, rather than as an inexpensive first car. Xiaomi’s original launch and ecosystem overview is available here, while its technology unveiling is documented here.
The regular SU7 range now consists of Standard, Pro and Max trims. The SU7 Ultra is a separate, substantially more expensive performance model. Its track-focused power, braking and acceleration figures should not be used to describe the ordinary Standard, Pro or Max cars.

2024 SU7 versus the current 2026 SU7
Many online specifications combine the first-generation car with the current model. They are not interchangeable.
| Version | What happened | Relevant details |
|---|---|---|
| First-generation SU7 | Launched March 28, 2024; first deliveries began in April 2024 | Original prices were RMB 215,900 for Standard, RMB 245,900 for Pro and RMB 299,900 for Max. Production ended in early 2026 as Xiaomi transitioned to the new-generation model. |
| New-generation SU7 | Launched March 19, 2026; deliveries began in March 2026 | Current regular range with Standard, Pro and Max trims, upgraded motors, more extensive driver-assistance hardware and revised cabin technology. |
| SU7 Ultra | Separate performance derivative | Much more expensive and designed around maximum performance. Ultra specifications do not apply to the regular SU7 lineup. |
Reported first-generation volume also needs careful wording. TechNode reported nearly 370,000 first-generation SU7 vehicles built, while other coverage cited more than 381,000 delivered. Those are different measurements: a production total is not the same as a delivery total, and the figures should not be presented as one definitive number.
2026 Xiaomi SU7 prices and specifications
The following are mainland-China launch figures. Prices are Chinese list prices in renminbi. Range figures use China’s CLTC test cycle and should not be presented as EPA or WLTP ratings.
| Version | China starting price | Drive layout | Launch-reported CLTC range | Position in the range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SU7 Standard | RMB 219,900 | Rear-wheel drive | 720 km | Entry version with the new-generation motor and driver-assistance hardware |
| SU7 Pro | RMB 249,900 | Rear-wheel drive | Up to 902 km | Long-range version |
| SU7 Max | RMB 303,900 | All-wheel drive | 835 km | Performance-oriented flagship of the regular SU7 range |
Xiaomi says the new-generation lineup uses its V6s Plus electric motor across the range. The company also quotes acceleration as quick as 3.08 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and a top speed of 265 km/h. Those are launch claims for the applicable configuration, not specifications for every trim and not SU7 Ultra figures.

It has five seats. Launch materials list approximately 105 liters of front-trunk capacity and approximately 517 liters at the rear, although luggage capacity, battery configuration, wheels and equipment can vary by trim. Buyers should check Xiaomi’s final Chinese configuration sheet rather than assume every SU7 has identical specifications. Additional filing and dimension information is reported by CNEV Post.
A direct currency conversion of RMB 219,900 may look attractive to an overseas reader, but it is not an American or European price. A local price would also reflect shipping, taxes, tariffs, certification, market-specific equipment, dealer or retail margins, warranty provision and service costs.
What changed with the new-generation SU7?
Powertrain, efficiency and charging
The 2026 car brings the V6s Plus motor to the regular lineup, alongside a higher-voltage architecture than the original entry model. Xiaomi claims improved acceleration, energy efficiency, range and charging performance. Depending on trim and charger, the company also advertises substantial range replenishment in 15 minutes.
It is too broad to describe every new-generation version simply as an identical 800-volt car. Launch coverage distinguishes the Standard and Pro systems from the Max system, and descriptions of the architecture vary by configuration. Charging speed depends on the battery state of charge, temperature, charger output, battery pack and the specific trim. Xiaomi’s launch information is the appropriate reference for the Chinese-market equipment.

More driver-assistance hardware as standard
The new-generation SU7 range is described as having LiDAR, 4D millimeter-wave radar and a Nvidia Thor-based computing platform as standard. Xiaomi quotes up to 700 TOPS of computing power and markets the related assisted-driving system as Xiaomi HAD.
That is a meaningful hardware change, but hardware capability is not the same thing as autonomous driving. LiDAR is a sensor, and TOPS is a measure of computing capacity; neither proves that the car can drive itself or that its assistance is safer in every situation. Real-world behavior depends on software validation, mapping, road conditions, weather, driver monitoring, over-the-air updates and local regulation.
Functions described in Chinese-market materials may be limited to certain cities, roads or software versions. They also may not operate outside China because of map data, language, network, account and regulatory differences. Earlier Xiaomi material, for example, described City Navigate on Autopilot as a mainland-China rollout delivered through OTA updates; it should not be interpreted as a globally available feature. The original announcement can be reviewed through Xiaomi’s investor-relations filing.
HyperOS and the Xiaomi ecosystem
The SU7’s cabin is one of its biggest points of differentiation. HyperOS is intended to provide a connected smart cabin, with links to Xiaomi smartphones, tablets and smart-home devices. Xiaomi has also revised elements of the 2026 interior, including the steering wheel and center console.
This integration could be especially compelling for someone who already uses Xiaomi hardware and services. It also introduces a significant international question: phone compatibility, app availability, account regions, language support, cloud connectivity and smart-home control may not be identical outside China. A Chinese-market vehicle should not be assumed to offer the same connected experience in Europe or the United States.
Battery and body-safety claims
Xiaomi says the new-generation SU7 includes an ASIL-D-rated battery safety architecture, emergency battery power cutoff capability, continuous vehicle-to-cloud monitoring and high-strength structural components including 2,200 MPa steel elements in the body structure.
These are manufacturer claims about design and equipment. They are useful context, but they do not replace independent crash-test results, long-term reliability data or market-specific certification.
What does the 902-km range figure really mean?
It means the SU7 Pro is claimed to travel up to 902 km under China’s CLTC test cycle—not that it has a 902-km real-world range.

As with other laboratory cycles, the result is useful for comparing vehicles tested under the same system, but it is not directly interchangeable with U.S. EPA or European WLTP figures. Test-cycle results can be substantially more optimistic than sustained highway driving, especially at high speeds, in cold weather or with heavy climate-control use.
For perspective, 902 km is about 560 miles by simple arithmetic. It is incorrect to report that as a 560-mile U.S. EPA rating. The SU7 has no U.S. EPA range rating because Xiaomi does not sell or certify it for the U.S. market. In an independent first drive, MotorTrend estimated that the Chinese-market SU7 Max’s range might translate to roughly 380 miles under an EPA-style expectation, but that was an editorial estimate, not an EPA certification. Its test coverage should be read in that context.
The same caution applies to the 720-km Standard and 835-km Max figures in the table. They are Chinese-configuration CLTC numbers. An eventual European SU7 would need an official WLTP result, and a U.S.-market model would need an EPA rating if Xiaomi ever certifies and sells one there.
Is the Xiaomi SU7 safe?
There is encouraging Chinese-market safety evidence, but it needs to be kept within its boundaries. The first-generation SU7 Max received a five-star result in China’s C-NCAP program, and Xiaomi has publicized C-IASI and other Chinese safety assessments.

The C-NCAP result applies to the tested vehicle, model configuration and test protocol. It is not an NHTSA or IIHS rating, and it does not automatically establish that every SU7 trim or a future international version would receive the same result. The relevant C-NCAP evaluation is available from the testing organization.
The first-generation assisted-parking recall
China’s market-regulation authority reported a recall affecting 12,521 first-generation SU7 Standard vehicles produced between August 8 and November 26, 2024. A software timing-synchronization problem could affect the system’s detection of static obstacles during assisted parking. Xiaomi planned to correct the issue through an over-the-air software update, and the authority reported no associated accidents or injuries.
This was a defined production-batch recall involving a software-related parking function. It is not evidence that every SU7 is unsafe. It is, however, relevant ownership context: software recalls and OTA fixes are part of the risk profile of a technology-led automaker. The official recall notice is available here.
Is the SU7 autonomous?
No. The SU7 is an electric car with driver-assistance systems, not a driverless car.

Terms such as HAD, NOA, pilot or navigate-on-autopilot describe assistance features. They do not remove the driver’s legal and practical responsibility. The driver must remain attentive and ready to intervene.
Availability can vary according to:
- city and road coverage;
- mapping and geofencing;
- software version and OTA rollout;
- weather, construction and road markings;
- language, account and cellular-network support; and
- the regulations of the country where the vehicle is operating.
Consequently, the presence of LiDAR, radar and 700 TOPS of computing power is not proof of superior autonomous performance—and it certainly is not proof that Chinese-market assistance features will work in the United States or Europe.
Where can you actually buy the SU7?
Mainland China
The new-generation SU7 is officially orderable and delivered through Xiaomi’s Chinese EV sales and service network. Xiaomi’s launch materials identify the Xiaomi EV app and WeChat mini-program as ordering channels. That is the market for which the current prices, equipment, software and delivery statements apply.
Europe
Xiaomi opened an EV research and design center in Munich in September 2025, a concrete sign that Europe is part of the company’s automotive strategy. Xiaomi representatives and founder Lei Jun have pointed to entering Europe from 2027, and reporting has identified Germany as a possible initial market. Xiaomi’s Munich announcement is here; the reported 2027 target is covered by The Standard.

United States
As of August 9, 2026, no U.S. SU7 retail launch, U.S. price, dealer network or official service network has been announced in the reviewed sources. That does not prove Xiaomi will never enter the United States; it means there is currently no announced route for an ordinary U.S. customer to buy a new SU7 directly from Xiaomi.
Can an American privately import one?
A reseller listing or parallel-import advertisement is not proof that the SU7 is legal to register or supported by Xiaomi in the United States.

Under NHTSA rules, a vehicle under 25 years old that was not originally manufactured to comply with U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards generally cannot be lawfully imported unless it is determined eligible and brought into conformity through the required process, typically involving a NHTSA Registered Importer. NHTSA’s guidance on Registered Importers and its importation and certification FAQ explain the framework.
EPA requirements and import documentation also apply. The EPA advises importers to consider both EPA and Department of Transportation requirements; its vehicle-import guidance and certification overview are the starting points.
A private importer would also need to investigate:
- FMVSS compliance, eligibility and certification;
- EPA documentation or an applicable exemption;
- customs duties, tariffs, brokerage and transportation;
- state DMV registration and inspection rules;
- insurance and crash-repair availability;
- parts, diagnostic tools and qualified technicians;
- charging connector and charging-network compatibility;
- Chinese-language software, account and cellular support;
- whether Xiaomi will honor any warranty outside China; and
- how the car could be resold if support remains unavailable.
Anyone still considering an import should obtain written answers from a current customs broker, a NHTSA Registered Importer and the relevant state DMV before paying a deposit. An OTA update might fix a software defect, but it cannot solve registration, crash-certification, warranty, parts or physical-repair problems.

|---|---|---|
| Reservation or pre-order | An early expression of interest | May not become a final purchase |

| Production | A vehicle has been built | It may not yet have been handed to a customer |
| Delivery | A vehicle has been handed over to a customer | The clearest measure of customer vehicles on the road |
According to Xiaomi’s reporting, the new-generation SU7 passed 26,000 deliveries by April 23, 2026, and exceeded 80,000 locked-in orders by May 6. Those 80,000 orders should not be called 80,000 deliveries or 80,000 cars sold. Xiaomi’s relevant filing is available through the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Xiaomi also reported 80,856 total smart-EV deliveries in the first quarter of 2026. That company-wide figure included the YU7 and remaining first-generation SU7 activity, so it is not a new-generation SU7-only total. Its 2025 annual report recorded 411,082 smart-EV deliveries for the full year, again covering Xiaomi’s broader EV portfolio rather than only the SU7. Any figure described as more than 650,000 Xiaomi cars likewise refers to the wider vehicle portfolio unless the source explicitly says otherwise.
More recent reporting said Xiaomi EV’s monthly deliveries remained above 30,000 in June 2026, but that figure also covered the company’s vehicle lineup rather than the SU7 alone. The June context is reported by CNEV Post. These figures show momentum; they do not by themselves establish long-term reliability, resale value or international service quality.
How does the SU7 compare with Tesla and Porsche?
The most sensible broad comparison for the SU7 is the Tesla Model 3, because both target technology-focused EV shoppers and compete in the electric-sedan conversation. In China, more direct rivals include the BYD Seal, XPeng P7, Zeekr 007 and Nio ET5. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 and BMW i4 are relevant international comparisons, depending on the market.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The Porsche Taycan is a useful performance-positioning reference, but it is not an equivalent purchase. A headline acceleration figure does not make two cars equivalent in price, ride comfort, chassis tuning, materials, brand positioning, charging access, dealer support or ownership cost. Likewise, saying the SU7 “beats Tesla” or is a “Porsche killer” is meaningless without specifying the metric, trim, test cycle and market.
For a fair comparison, an eventual buyer should check:
- local, not Chinese-market, price;
- EPA or WLTP range using the same test standard;
- charging speed with the same battery state-of-charge assumptions;
- insurance, warranty and service coverage;
- driver-assistance features that are actually enabled locally;
- rear-seat and luggage space;
- ride and handling, not just acceleration; and
- resale value and parts availability.
Why someone might want an SU7
- Strong Chinese-market value: Xiaomi combines a large sedan, ambitious performance and long headline range at prices that are competitive in China.
- Ecosystem integration: Existing Xiaomi users may value the phone, app and smart-home connections more than they would in a conventional EV.
- New-generation hardware: LiDAR, 4D millimeter-wave radar and high-performance computing are standard claims across the 2026 regular range.
- Choice of character: The Standard and Pro emphasize rear-wheel-drive efficiency and range, while the Max adds all-wheel drive and stronger performance.
- Evidence of scale: Xiaomi is delivering vehicles in meaningful volume rather than selling a technology demonstrator in tiny numbers.
Why an international buyer may want to wait
- The SU7 is not officially sold in the United States or other markets outside mainland China as of the stated date.
- European launch timing is a plan, not a complete retail rollout.
- International pricing, warranty, service, parts and resale values are unknown.
- CLTC range is not directly comparable with EPA or WLTP.
- Chinese-market assisted-driving software may be region-locked or unavailable elsewhere.
- New-generation reliability evidence is still limited because the model launched in March 2026.
- First-generation owners may face depreciation questions now that production has ended and the new model is on sale.
- A private import may be difficult or impossible to register legally, depending on the country or U.S. state.
Who should buy, wait or choose an alternative?
A buyer in mainland China
The 2026 SU7 is a genuine purchase option. The Pro is the range-focused choice on the published figures, the Max is the regular lineup’s performance flagship, and the Standard offers the lowest entry price. Buyers should still verify delivery timing, battery and wheel configuration, charging access and the exact software features included with the chosen trim.
An existing first-generation Chinese owner
Upgrading could bring the new V6s Plus powertrain, improved charging and range, standardized driver-assistance hardware, and revised cabin and safety systems. Reasons to keep the original include its lower sunk cost, acceptable existing performance and the uncertainty that accompanies a newly introduced generation. A higher new-car price and possible first-generation depreciation also matter.

A U.S. buyer shopping today
The SU7 is not a practical mainstream purchase because it lacks official sales, U.S. certification, a local warranty and a service network. Reasonable alternatives to investigate include the Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Ioniq 6, BMW i4, Lucid Air at a higher price point, and Porsche Taycan for buyers prioritizing premium performance. These are not one-for-one equivalents; compare local price, size, range standard, charging access and support.
A European buyer interested in Xiaomi
Waiting for Xiaomi to publish country-specific pricing, homologation, WLTP results, warranty terms and service arrangements is more sensible than buying an unsupported import. Depending on country and availability, alternatives include the Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Ioniq 6, BMW i4, BYD Seal, XPeng P7 and Zeekr models. Local availability varies, so the comparison must be made in the buyer’s actual market.
An international enthusiast considering a private import
Treat the SU7 as a research project, not a normal car purchase, unless all of the following have been confirmed in writing:

What to watch before calling it a global success
The SU7 matters because Xiaomi has brought a major consumer-electronics ecosystem into a high-volume vehicle business. Its early Chinese sales and the new-generation specification suggest serious competitive ambition. But a global automotive product requires more than attractive hardware and a compelling launch price.

The next meaningful evidence will be official market announcements, type approval, local range testing, service and parts networks, insurance support, software localization and independent reliability and safety data. Until those arrive, the Chinese-market SU7 and the eventual European or American product—if launched—should be treated as related offerings rather than assumed to be identical.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Xiaomi SU7 available in the United States?
No. As of August 9, 2026, Xiaomi has not announced a U.S. retail launch, U.S. pricing, dealers or an official service network. A reseller listing does not establish official availability or legal registrability.
What is the range of the 2026 Xiaomi SU7?
The Chinese-market figures are 720 km CLTC for the Standard, up to 902 km CLTC for the Pro and 835 km CLTC for the Max. CLTC is not the U.S. EPA test cycle, so 902 km should not be reported as a 560-mile EPA range.
Is the SU7 Ultra the same car as the regular SU7?
No. The SU7 Ultra is a separate, much more expensive performance model. Its acceleration, power, braking and track-related specifications do not apply to the regular Standard, Pro or Max versions.

When will the Xiaomi SU7 be available in Europe?
Xiaomi has indicated that its vehicles will enter Europe from 2027, and Germany has been reported as a possible initial market. However, Xiaomi has not yet published complete country-by-country pricing, trim selection, homologation, warranty, service or delivery details.
Can I privately import a Chinese Xiaomi SU7 into the U.S.?
It is not automatically legal or straightforward. Vehicles under 25 years old that were not originally built to meet U.S. safety standards generally require an eligibility and conformity process involving NHTSA requirements. EPA, customs, state registration, insurance, parts, software and warranty issues also apply. Consult a current customs broker, NHTSA Registered Importer and state DMV before paying for one.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Xiaomi’s SU7 is here in the meaningful automotive sense: it is a real, high-volume production EV, and the new-generation 2026 model is being delivered in mainland China. It is not here yet for American buyers, and it is not currently an ordinary European purchase either. The car’s RMB prices, CLTC range, LiDAR hardware and Xiaomi ecosystem make it compelling on paper, but international shoppers should wait for official local certification, pricing, software, warranty and service support rather than mistake a Chinese launch—or a reseller listing—for global availability.
