Xiaomi’s Vision Gran Turismo is an electric hypercar concept created for the Gran Turismo racing simulation series—not a production car announced for sale. Xiaomi announced it in Barcelona on February 28, 2026, then showed the full-scale model at MWC Barcelona in March. Gran Turismo says the car is scheduled to join Gran Turismo 7 in the October 2026 Spec IV update, but its announcement gives no exact release date.
What Xiaomi revealed in Barcelona
Xiaomi’s investor presentation dates the announcement to February 28, 2026. The full-scale concept model was then unveiled at MWC Barcelona in March, according to Xiaomi’s official announcement. The distinction is useful: the announcement came first; the model’s show-floor unveiling followed at MWC.

Xiaomi says the collaboration began after Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi invited the company at the GT World Series in London in 2025. Xiaomi describes Vision Gran Turismo as a global initiative in which automakers create original concept cars for the Gran Turismo series.
What the Vision Gran Turismo is—and is not
The car is an electric hypercar concept designed by Xiaomi Auto’s global design team for Gran Turismo. Xiaomi describes itself as the first Chinese brand and first technology company invited to the Vision Gran Turismo project. Its 2026 investor presentation calls the car the “51st Vision GT Concept Car”—a project sequence, not a performance ranking or specification.

The official material presents it as a concept, not a confirmed road car. It does not announce production, road homologation, a retail price or an order process. There is therefore no basis to treat it as a purchasable Xiaomi model or a road-legal vehicle.
How Xiaomi describes the design
Airflow and bodywork
Xiaomi’s concept page describes an Active Wake Control System (AWCS) made up of thousands of microholes. The company says these produce airflow at varying speeds according to the vehicle’s real-time speed and posture, with the aim of reducing turbulence while preserving a seamless exterior appearance. This is Xiaomi’s design description; the official pages do not provide independently verified aerodynamic test results.

Gran Turismo describes a teardrop-shaped cockpit set into a body shaped by cutouts and air ducts that form aerodynamic channels. It also says the halo-shaped taillight doubles as a large air outlet. These are descriptions of the concept’s intended form, not published measurements of drag or downforce.

Xiaomi calls the interior concept “Sofa Racer.” Its described features include an X-shaped steering wheel, steer-by-wire controls and a cocoon-shaped sofa. They communicate a lounge-like, technology-focused approach to a virtual hypercar interior; the concept announcement does not establish that these elements are planned for a production vehicle.

Connected ecosystem concept
Xiaomi also places the car within its “Human × Car × Home” ecosystem, describing connected personal devices and personalized experiences powered by its ecosystem and AI capabilities. That is part of the concept presentation, not a retail feature promise for a vehicle customers can order.
Can you drive the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo in Gran Turismo 7?
Gran Turismo said on October 3, 2026, that the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo is scheduled to be added to Gran Turismo 7 with the Spec IV major update in October. Footage was shown at the 2026 GT World Series Singapore round. The notice does not give an exact release day, so the schedule alone does not confirm that the car is already playable; check the game’s current update status for availability.

This is the clearest announced way to experience the car: in Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation 5, once the stated update makes it available. The in-game car is a virtual implementation of the concept, not evidence of a corresponding production model or independently tested real-world performance.

What has—and has not—been established about performance
The selected official Xiaomi and Gran Turismo announcements do not state a verified aerodynamic coefficient, downforce figure, power output or other measured vehicle-performance statistic. Xiaomi’s airflow descriptions explain design intent, but should not be read as test results. Until official specifications or independent measurements are published, the concept is best understood through its design and its planned place in the game rather than numerical performance claims.

Why the project matters to Xiaomi
Vision Gran Turismo gives automakers a setting to create original cars for a racing simulation without presenting them as production programs. Xiaomi frames its entry as a technology-company perspective on that exercise and connects the concept to its broader ecosystem ideas. Yamauchi is quoted on Xiaomi Auto’s concept page as saying, “Xiaomi Vision GT will become a role model for this era.” That is his characterization of the concept, not a technical assessment.
For readers, the practical distinction is straightforward: Xiaomi has revealed a full-scale show car and described its design, while Gran Turismo has announced a planned game addition. Neither announcement establishes a retail Xiaomi hypercar.
