The launch was followed by a production ramp—not a single moment when full-scale output suddenly began. Xiaomi said double-shift factory operations started in June 2024, then reported 27,307 deliveries in the second quarter and 136,854 SU7-series deliveries for the full year.
What Xiaomi announced about the SU7
In materials published ahead of the launch, Xiaomi described the SU7 series as a “full-size high-performance eco-technology sedan” and identified it as the company’s first electric vehicle. The company said pricing would be announced on March 28, 2024, the date the car launched in China. That description is Xiaomi’s positioning, not an independent assessment of the car. The launch-era lineup included SU7, Pro and Max variants. The performance figures Xiaomi highlighted in its investor materials were for the SU7 Max, so they should not be taken as specifications for every version.

Xiaomi reported the following specifications for the SU7 Max in 2024. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results:

The range figure uses CLTC, the China Light-duty Vehicle Test Cycle. It is a test-cycle figure, not a guarantee of the distance a driver will cover in everyday conditions. How the 2024 production ramp unfolded
“Gears up for mass production” describes the period around the SU7’s launch, but the milestones that followed are distinct: the March launch, a factory operating change in June, and reported deliveries across the second quarter and full year.

- March 28, 2024: Xiaomi launched the SU7 in China after saying its price would be announced that day.
- June 2024: Xiaomi said double-shift operations began at its EV factory, an increase in operating shifts as it worked to ramp production.

These company-reported delivery totals show how the launch was followed by a ramp through 2024; they should not be confused with factory capacity or production figures.
What changed after the original SU7
The first-generation SU7 is no longer the current generation. Xiaomi’s Q1 2026 investor materials said sales of the first-generation SU7 series had been discontinued and that a new-generation SU7 launched in March 2026. Xiaomi later reported more than 500,000 cumulative SU7-series deliveries as of August 17, 2026. That cumulative figure covers the SU7 series and is not a first-generation-only total. For readers interested in a collectible rather than the full-size vehicle, Xiaomi’s official global product page describes a 1:18 SU7 replica with opening doors, bonnet and boot, plus steerable front wheels. The page warns that the model contains small parts and should be kept away from children to prevent accidental swallowing.
