Handling that can be adjusted
Critics also responded positively to the handling and the ability to tune the experience. That flexibility gives players room to choose how demanding the riding feels, though it does not mean every reviewer considered the physics a full simulation: one PS4 review excerpt says the game falls short of a true sim even at its highest physics settings.
A more competitive entry
Metacritic summarizes Eurogamer’s June 20, 2014 review, which gave the game 80/100, as finding that a graphical overhaul, refined handling, and experimental modes made it more competitive than its predecessors. That is one outlet’s assessment, not a consensus that every aspect improved.

The configurable handling is useful, but the game can still be difficult for newcomers. That matters if you want an immediately accessible arcade-style racer: the favorable comments about controls do not erase the learning curve or the criticism that the highest physics settings do not make the game a complete simulation.
