In May 2024, a Xiamen owner said his newly delivered Xiaomi SU7 Standard broke down after 39 km. IT之家 reported that Xiaomi Auto staff agreed to arrange a replacement under his original order and provide 150 yuan per day—or equivalent points—while he waited. The arrangement was reported for this customer; it was not announced as a general Xiaomi policy.
What happened to the SU7 after 39 km?
IT之家 reported on May 9, 2024, that an owner identified as Mr. Wen took delivery of a new SU7 Standard at Xiaomi’s delivery center in Xiang’an, Xiamen, and that the car failed after traveling 39 km. The outlet said he shared a video and customer-service screenshots. Caixin Global later dated the failure to May 5 and reported that the car was towed back.
The coverage describes one owner’s incident. It does not establish a broader defect rate or show that SU7 vehicles generally fail after a particular distance.
What replacement and compensation did Xiaomi reportedly offer?
According to IT之家’s May 9 account of the screenshots and the owner’s confirmation, after-sales staff initially offered to handle a return. Mr. Wen wanted a replacement instead. He was reported to have said, in translation, that he wanted a car rather than a return and questioned whether it was fair to make him enter production scheduling again.

The outlet reported that staff agreed to request a replacement using the original order number, but could not promise when it would be delivered because of the queue. It also reported these case-specific terms:
- From signing the replacement agreement until delivery of the replacement, the owner could choose 150 yuan in cash per day or equivalent points.
- Certain registration costs might be covered.
- Staff could help transfer financing and insurance arrangements made through Xiaomi.
These terms were reported by IT之家 from customer-service screenshots and the owner’s account. Xiaomi’s public confirmation of the arrangement was not located in the coverage cited here, and the report does not establish that a replacement was ultimately delivered.

Was the technical cause confirmed?
No final technical finding is established in the available reports. Caixin Global’s May 15, 2024 coverage said the owner was told a high-voltage line problem was involved and that the vehicle would be sent to the factory. IT之家’s follow-up said the initial inspection found no problem. The reports therefore differ on what was known after the first inspection, and neither establishes the factory’s final diagnosis.
