Yes. In China during 2025, Xiaomi SU7 sales outnumbered Tesla Model 3 deliveries: figures attributed to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) put the SU7 at 258,164 and the Model 3 at 200,361. That is about 57,800 more SU7s, or roughly 29% more. It is a model-level result for one market and year—not evidence that Xiaomi outsold Tesla worldwide or delivered more vehicles as a company.
How the 2025 China comparison breaks down
Electrek and the South China Morning Post reported the figures as CPCA-attributed: 258,164 Xiaomi SU7s versus 200,361 Tesla Model 3s in China during 2025. The difference is 57,803 vehicles; rounded, that is about 57,800, or roughly 29% more SU7s than Model 3s.
The comparison is between two models, not the automakers’ total deliveries. It is also specific to China and 2025. The figures do not show that Xiaomi surpassed Tesla in global sales, total company deliveries, or every vehicle category. Electrek and the South China Morning Post reported the same CPCA-attributed totals.
What Xiaomi’s own rankings add
Xiaomi’s 2025 annual results say the SU7 Series ranked first among sedans priced at or above RMB 200,000 in mainland China. That is a separate company-reported category ranking, not the source of the exact Tesla comparison. For the broader company context, Xiaomi reported 411,082 vehicle deliveries across its range in 2025, up 200.4% year over year, and set a 2026 delivery target of 550,000. Neither the annual total nor the target is an SU7-only figure. They should not be compared directly with the Model 3 count.
Why the result is not a complete buying comparison
Annual sales counts show how many vehicles were sold or delivered in a defined market and period; they do not establish which car is better for a particular buyer. Price, range, equipment, and software can differ by Chinese-market trim and model year. A fair vehicle-to-vehicle comparison requires matched versions and consistent terms for those specifications. The reported sales figures alone do not provide that comparison.

The result also sits within a much wider EV market. The International Council on Clean Transportation’s monitor for the first half of 2025 included the SU7 among China’s ten best-selling battery-electric models and described it as Xiaomi’s first appearance on that list. Five of the ten models were minicars, illustrating why the SU7–Model 3 contest is best read as a premium-sedan comparison, not a picture of the entire Chinese EV market. What changed in 2026
In its first-half 2026 interim report, Xiaomi said it delivered 185,055 vehicles across its range, up 17.7% year over year. It also said the SU7 Series ranked first among pure-electric sedans priced above RMB 200,000 in mainland China during that period. This ranking has a different period and category wording from the 2025 ranking: 2025 covered sedans priced at or above RMB 200,000, while H1 2026 specified pure-electric sedans priced above that threshold. Xiaomi attributed lower SU7 Series deliveries in H1 2026 to ending sales of the first-generation SU7 in the first quarter, partly offset by higher YU7 deliveries. The lineup and measurement period therefore differ from the 2025 model comparison. The company-wide H1 total does not establish how the SU7 compared with the Model 3 in the first half of 2026.

The headline is supported when read precisely: CPCA-attributed reporting says the Xiaomi SU7 outsold the Tesla Model 3 in China in 2025. The lead is about 57,800 vehicles. It is a one-year, one-market, model-level result—not a global or company-wide victory for Xiaomi.

At the SU7’s 2024 launch, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun described surpassing Porsche as a long-term aspiration, saying it could take five to ten years of continued effort.
