The X-Cape 700 is Moto Morini’s middleweight adventure bike with a 693 cc liquid-cooled parallel twin, built for mostly paved touring with light off-road use. It moves the X-Cape from the earlier 650 class up to the 700 class. The manufacturer’s figures for power, torque, weight and price differ somewhat between its US and European pages, so this article keeps each figure tied to its market and explains which differences matter when you are deciding whether the bike fits your riding.
What changed from the 650 to the 700
The 700 designation reflects the engine’s current displacement of 693 cc. The sources behind this article document the 700’s specifications and equipment in detail, but they do not provide a complete side-by-side list of every component that changed from the earlier 650 version. Where this article describes a change, it is one the current manufacturer pages support. For a full comparison with an earlier 650 model, check the earlier model’s archived specification sheet with a Moto Morini dealer before assuming a component carried over.
Engine and performance figures
Moto Morini publishes two sets of engine figures. They are close but not identical, and the gap is mostly a matter of units and rounding rather than a different engine. Use the table below to see which figure belongs to which market.
| Item | US page (Moto Morini USA) | European page (Moto Morini Europe) |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 693 cc liquid-cooled parallel twin, DOHC, Bosch EFI | 693 cc liquid-cooled parallel twin |
| Power | 70 hp at 8,500 rpm | 71 HP (52.21 kW) at 8,500 rpm |
| Torque | 50.2 ft-lb at 6,500 rpm | 68 Nm at 6,500 rpm |
| Listed top speed | 115 mph | Not stated |
| Emissions standard | Not stated | Euro 5+ |
The power gap is most likely a units difference. The European figure of 52.21 kW corresponds to 71 metric horsepower (PS), and 71 PS converts to roughly 70 imperial horsepower. The torque figures agree once converted: 50.2 ft-lb is about 68 Nm. Read the two pages as describing the same engine, stated in different units, rather than as two versions of the bike.

Chassis, brakes and suspension
The two pages describe the same suspension layout and largely the same brake package, with some differences in tire naming and in which measurements each page publishes.
| Item | US page | European page |
|---|---|---|
| Wheels | 19-inch front and 17-inch rear, tubeless spoked | Spoked rims, with wheel alternatives described on the page |
| Tires | Pirelli Scorpion STR | Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR for spoked rims |
| ABS | Switchable Bosch ABS | Bosch ABS (switchability not stated) |
| Front fork | Marzocchi 50 mm, 6.9 in (about 175 mm) of travel | 175 mm front travel |
| Rear shock | KYB, 6.5 in (about 165 mm) of travel | 165 mm rear travel |
| Seat height | Not stated | 820 mm and 845 mm (about 32.3 in and 33.3 in) |
| Ground clearance | Not stated | 190 mm (about 7.5 in) |
| Fuel capacity | Not stated | 18 L (about 4.8 US gal) |
| Dry weight | Not stated | 213 kg (about 470 lb) |
The matching suspension travel numbers are a useful check: the 6.9 in and 6.5 in US figures convert to the same 175 mm and 165 mm published on the European page, so the chassis specification appears consistent across the two markets.
Seat height and what the two figures mean
The European page lists two seat heights, 820 mm and 845 mm. The source does not explain how the seat is adjusted between them. Treat the pair as the range available on the bike and confirm the exact method and the seat option that comes with your model year at the dealer before you ride it.

In case of stubborn dirt, it is possible to use a common spray for cleaning glass or a liquid degreaser. Finally, dry the surface thoroughly and proceed with the application of the adhesive.
- [EASY TO APPLY]: Handle the sticker exclusively from the edges avoiding touching the adhesive part with your hands, apply the adhesive keeping it perfectly aligned to the shape of the bike to avoid sticking and detaching actions that could compromise the tightness of the glue over time. We recommend starting on one side and gently eliminate any air bubble as you proceed to the opposite side.
Dry weight is not wet weight
The 213 kg figure is a dry weight, which excludes fuel and other fluids. A full tank adds to the number you will actually lift and push. Because the US page does not publish a weight, do not compare the 213 kg figure against a rival’s wet weight. Compare dry with dry, using the same convention on each manufacturer’s page.

Prices differ by market, and the figures below are not directly comparable. They also change, so confirm the current number with a local dealer.
| Market | Price shown by Moto Morini | What the price includes |
|---|---|---|
| United States (Moto Morini USA) | $8,299 MSRP | Freight and setup are charged in addition |
| Spain (Moto Morini Europe) | €6,590 starting price | Not stated on the page; taxes and delivery charges are not established |
A US MSRP is not an out-the-door price, and a European starting price is not a fully equipped price. Before comparing, ask your dealer for a written total that includes tax, delivery, setup and any dealer fees. Do not convert one currency to the other as a shortcut, because the bikes and the included equipment may not be identical.

Accessories and equipment
The US page lists several factory accessories for the model:
- Heated seat and heated grips, useful for cold-weather touring.
- Hard cases, for luggage on a touring setup.
- Drop bars, an alternative handlebar for a more road-focused riding position.
- Skid plate, which the US page marks as arriving soon. Confirm current availability before you plan around it.
The European page also lists an SC-Project homologated exhaust. Confirm that a homologated exhaust is legal and available in your country, and check fitment for your model year before buying any accessory. Parts listed on a manufacturer page are not guaranteed to be stocked by every dealer.
Availability timeline
Moto Morini’s official press release dated 4 December 2024 forecast the launch this way: “The new Moto Morini X-Cape 700 will be available at authorized dealers in the first half of 2025.” Moto Morini press release (PDF, 4 December 2024) That was a planned timeline. A later Moto Morini Spanish news post dated 26 June 2025 reported that the bike had reached Spanish dealers, as Moto Morini’s Spanish announcement states. Those are dated launch statements for one country. They do not show how much stock is available today in the United States, Spain or anywhere else, so check current inventory with a dealer.

Off-road use: what one published review observed
The Cycle News review of the 2026 model, published in October 2025, described ground clearance as adequate for the bike’s intended use. The reviewer also reported that the factory center stand touched the ground on a few occasions while shooting off-road. That is one reviewer’s observation from one ride, not a controlled test and not a measure of how the bike will perform for every rider. Cycle News, 2026 Moto Morini X-Cape 700 review (October 2025)
The sources used here do not establish long-term reliability, owner satisfaction or maintenance costs. If those matter to you, ask a dealer for service intervals and warranty terms for your country, and ask owners of the earlier X-Cape models about their experience.
Who the X-Cape 700 suits
The specifications point to a bike built around road touring with the option of light off-road riding, rather than hard-enduro use. Its suspension travel and ground clearance support gravel tracks and rough forest roads, while the drop-bar option and hard-case mounts favor long days on pavement.

- It fits well if you want a mid-size twin for highway and back-road touring, plan to carry luggage, and expect occasional gravel or dirt roads rather than technical trails.
- Think again if you plan frequent technical off-road riding, where a higher-clearance or lighter machine would give you more margin; the one published review noted the center stand contacting the ground.
- Check first if you need a specific seat height, a particular weight or a particular accessory, because the sources do not give every value for every market.
How to check the X-Cape 700 against a rival
This article does not compare the X-Cape 700 with named competitors, because the sources here do not give current, like-for-like specifications for rival bikes. To make a fair comparison, collect the same seven items for each bike from its manufacturer’s current market page:
- Price in the same market, with delivery and setup included.
- Weight, using the same convention (dry or wet) for every bike.
- Seat height, and whether it is adjustable.
- Wheel type, tire model and suspension travel.
- Engine output and torque, with units and engine speed stated.
- ABS and electronics, and which touring equipment is standard.
- Dealer and service access, and warranty terms in your country.
Two X-Cape 700 figures are easy to misread in such a comparison: the 70 hp versus 71 HP difference between pages, and the dry weight, which is not the same as the weight on a showroom scale.
Quick Recap
Before you buy
- Get a written out-the-door price that lists tax, freight, setup and dealer fees.
- Confirm the model year and the exact seat height you are getting.
- Ask whether the skid plate and any other accessory you want are in stock, and check fitment before ordering heated grips or hard cases.
- Confirm the ABS setting and how it is switched on the bike you are buying, since the US page describes it as switchable and the European page does not say so.
- Check the warranty and service network in your country, including the nearest authorized dealer.
