Its headline 250 mph (402 km/h) figure was a project target, not a documented achieved speed.
What is the WMC250EV?
The WMC250EV was built for straight-line land-speed attempts rather than showroom use. Its defining feature is a clear air passage through the middle of the motorcycle—the “big hole” visible in photographs. WMC used the open channel to reduce aerodynamic drag while placing the battery, motors, drivetrain, electronics, suspension and hydraulic hub-steering hardware low in the chassis.

The riding position is almost horizontal, another compromise made for minimum drag rather than everyday comfort. This is a prototype, not a production electric motorcycle.

How the central Venturi tunnel is supposed to help
A conventional motorcycle pushes air around a solid fairing and rider. The WMC layout gives part of that airflow a controlled route through the machine. The tunnel is intended to manage pressure and keep the motorcycle’s frontal flow cleaner, reducing the force required to move through the air at very high speed.

WMC claimed the tunnel reduced drag by 69 percent compared with “the world leading motorcycle.” The same 2021 report gave a drag coefficient of 0.118 with founder and rider Rob White aboard. Those are reported company figures, not an independently documented record.
Where and when were the first tests?
The first reported running took place at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in Leicestershire, UK, in September 2021. The initial outings were shakedown work: the team was checking that the motorcycle’s systems functioned before moving on to medium- and high-speed testing with the interim powertrain.
Bruntingthorpe’s two-mile runway was only part of the requirement. The motorcycle also had to complete a circuit and turn, despite being designed mainly for a straight-line record attempt.

White also said the motorcycle became more stable as speed increased because aerodynamic loads became more influential. The reports do not give a verified top speed for those first runs.

The gap between the interim 100 kW system and the planned approximately 250 kW system matters. Early testing could establish handling, steering and systems operation, but it could not by itself demonstrate the performance intended for the final record configuration.

Did the WMC250EV actually reach 250 mph?
There is no documented 250 mph run or land-speed record in the located reports. The 250 mph number should therefore be read as the project’s stated goal, not as an achieved result. The same caution applies to the 69 percent drag-reduction and 0.118 drag-coefficient figures: they are reported WMC figures from the 2021 development program.

Why the chassis looks unlike a normal electric motorcycle
Low-mounted hardware
Routing air through the center leaves the design team to package major components around the tunnel. WMC described the batteries, motors, drivetrain, electronics and suspension as being mounted low, helping keep the center of mass down while preserving the airflow path.
Hydraulic hub steering
Instead of a conventional telescopic fork, the prototype uses hydraulic hub steering. That arrangement supports the low, enclosed front-end packaging required by the tunnel concept, but it is not a conventional road-bike layout.

Record-focused ergonomics
The nearly horizontal rider position reduces the rider’s contribution to frontal area. It is appropriate to a controlled land-speed attempt, not evidence that the motorcycle was intended for commuting, touring or ordinary cornering.

What happened after the first tests?
A November 12, 2024 follow-up described a ducted Zero SR/S experiment and presented WMC’s broader airflow technology as something it licenses to motorcycle manufacturers. That report said no further WMC250EV progress had been reported after the 2021 tests.
That is a statement about publicly reported progress, not proof that the project was formally cancelled. The available accounts establish the early shakedown program, the proposed higher-power configuration and the later road-bike demonstration, but not a completed 250 mph attempt.
