On paper, yes for a small family—but the specification sheet cannot prove that your particular child seats, stroller or weekly luggage will fit comfortably. Škoda describes the Epiq as a five-seat compact SUV crossover. Its published equipment includes child-seat anchorages, a split-fold rear bench and a manufacturer-quoted luggage capacity that is substantial for the class. Families should still install their own seats and load their usual equipment at a dealer before committing to a purchase.
What the Epiq specification tells a family
The Epiq is nominally a five-seat vehicle, which means two front occupants and three positions across the second row. That number confirms seating capacity, not the comfort of five adults, the practicality of three child seats side by side or the amount of space left for a rear-facing seat behind a tall driver or front passenger. Škoda’s press material describes ample room for passengers in both rows and their luggage; that is the manufacturer’s assessment rather than an independent physical test.

For family use, the useful facts are the location of the child-seat anchorages, the shape-changing rear bench and the boot measurements. Those facts establish what the Epiq is designed to offer. They do not establish fit for a specific stroller, travel cot, child-seat model or shopping load, because those items vary greatly in width, height and shape.

ISOFIX and Top Tether in the outer rear seats
Škoda’s UK dimensions and safety information lists ISOFIX and Top Tether anchorage points on the two outer seats in the second row. This is the normal arrangement for two child seats, one behind the driver and one behind the front passenger. The centre rear position is not identified in the cited specification as having an ISOFIX fitting.

ISOFIX on the front-passenger seat
The same official information says ISOFIX is also available for the front-passenger seat. Whether a family can use that position legally and safely depends on the child seat, the vehicle’s airbag instructions and local regulations. A rear-facing seat in front must never be used with an active passenger airbag unless the vehicle documentation explicitly permits the required deactivation procedure.
What the specification does not establish
No verified source establishes the Epiq’s rear-facing-seat clearance behind either front seat, the ease of reaching the buckles once seats are installed, the fit of any named child-seat model or the ability to install three seats across the rear bench. Those are physical-installation questions, not conclusions that can be drawn from the presence of anchor points.
Bring every child seat your family uses to a Škoda retailer. Install each one in the intended position, check that the ISOFIX indicators or connectors show a secure engagement, attach the Top Tether where required, and confirm that the front seats can be adjusted for the adults who will drive. Try the rear-facing configuration first, because it normally demands the most front-to-back space. If you use a high-backed booster, check that the belt runs freely and that the child can reach and operate the buckle without the neighbouring seat obstructing it.

Litres describe volume, not a guaranteed object fit. A rigid stroller may need a particular opening width or height even when the theoretical volume looks sufficient. A tall suitcase can use space differently from several soft bags, and a folded travel cot may need a long, unobstructed floor. Child seats and passengers also determine whether the split-fold function can be used on a particular journey.
How the split rear seat helps on family trips
One passenger and one long item
The 60:40 arrangement is useful when a family needs to carry a long or awkward item without giving up the entire back seat. Lowering the smaller section can leave two rear seating positions available; lowering the larger section leaves less seating but creates a broader loading area. Check the owner’s manual for the correct belt and head-restraint procedure before folding a section with a child seat installed. Do not assume an occupied child seat can remain safely in place while its backrest section is moved.
Different loads on different days
For a normal school run, the family can keep the row upright and reserve the boot for bags and the stroller. For a home-improvement purchase or holiday item, the split permits a tailored compromise. The practical limitation is that the usable floor, opening and seat-back angle still have to match the object; the split itself does not guarantee a flat or unrestricted surface.

Extra storage: two separate figures
Škoda’s 2026 Epiq press-kit page identifies a 25-litre compartment beneath the bonnet. The Epiq catalogue separately describes up to 24 litres of underfloor storage. These are different storage areas and should not be added together or treated as one large compartment. Ask the retailer to show both spaces on the exact market version you are considering, because equipment and trim can affect how storage is configured.

Use the under-bonnet area only for items that the manufacturer permits there and that are protected from heat, moisture and movement. The underfloor area may be convenient for charging cables, a compact emergency kit or muddy items, but the available depth and access shape matter more than the headline volume for a particular object.
Will a stroller fit?
The published boot volume makes the Epiq look promising for a compact crossover, but there is no verified stroller-loading test in the available material. Strollers differ in folded length, wheel arrangement, handle position and whether the seat unit folds with the chassis. A family should measure its stroller in the exact folded state used in the car and compare that with the boot opening and floor, not just the stated litre figure.
- Fold the stroller exactly as you would at home, including removing or leaving the seat unit as usual.
- Place it through the boot opening without forcing the tailgate or resting weight on trim panels.
- Check whether the stroller blocks the parcel shelf, emergency equipment or visibility required by the vehicle instructions.
- Put the normal number of shopping bags, coats or nursery items beside it.
- Repeat the test with the child seats installed and the rear seats in the position used on a normal trip.
If the stroller only fits diagonally, test whether that position leaves space for groceries and whether the tailgate closes without contact. A successful empty-boot demonstration is not enough if the family cannot load the stroller with passengers and seats in place.

For groceries, school bags and small suitcases, the important question is not simply whether the load fits once. It is whether it can be packed without blocking the view, crushing fragile items or requiring a child seat to be removed. Use the family’s real bags during the dealer visit. Include the largest weekly shop, a changing bag, coats and any equipment normally carried year-round.

Soft luggage is easier to arrange around a stroller than rigid cases. If you travel with a cot, sports equipment or a pet barrier, bring those items too. The Epiq’s split-fold capability can help on occasional bulky-load days, but a family that regularly needs all three rear seating positions cannot count on folding a section for every journey.
Can three child seats fit across?
The Epiq’s five-seat layout provides three nominal rear seating positions, but the official material does not confirm three-across compatibility. Child seats have different shell widths, base shapes and belt-routing requirements. Two ISOFIX seats on the outer positions can leave very little usable width for a third seat, and a seat that appears to fit may prevent the neighbouring buckle from being operated correctly.
Test the exact three-seat combination, including any infant carrier base. Check that each seat is independently tight, that no seat relies on another for support, and that the vehicle belt can be routed as instructed. If the family may change from an infant carrier to a larger rear-facing seat later, test that future arrangement before buying rather than judging only the current setup.

- Bring every child seat. Include infant carriers, bases, rear-facing seats and boosters that will be used together.
- Install the most demanding seat first. Start with the rear-facing seat behind the driver and adjust the driver to the family’s normal driving position.
- Check anchor use. Verify ISOFIX and Top Tether attachment points in the positions you intend to use, following both manuals.
- Test adult access. Sit in every occupied position, buckle the children and confirm that adults can reach the releases without moving another seat.
- Load the real equipment. Bring the folded stroller, weekly bags, travel cot and any recurring sports or mobility equipment.
- Try normal and exceptional layouts. Check the row upright, then test the 60:40 fold with the passengers you would still need to carry.
- Repeat before signing. If a different trim, wheel option or accessory is supplied, repeat the installation and loading check on that exact vehicle.
Questions the specification cannot answer
- Whether a particular rear-facing child seat leaves enough legroom for the driver or front passenger.
- Whether three named child seats fit across without compromising belt access.
- Whether a specific stroller fits through the opening while other luggage remains in the boot.
- How easy it is to reach the outer buckles when two child seats are installed.
- Whether the boot floor is level enough for a particular long object with one rear section folded.
These unknowns are not defects in the published specification; they require a hands-on check because products and family routines differ. Treat any salesperson’s general assurance as provisional until your own equipment has been installed and loaded.
How to compare the Epiq with another family car
If you are cross-shopping, use identical checks rather than comparing litre numbers alone:

The Škoda Epiq has the basic ingredients many small families need: five seats, ISOFIX and Top Tether points on the two outer rear seats, front-passenger ISOFIX availability, a split-fold rear bench and a quoted boot capacity suitable for everyday use in principle. The evidence does not prove three-across child-seat compatibility, rear-facing clearance or stroller fit. Make the purchase decision only after your own seats and normal luggage have been installed in the exact Epiq you would receive.
