A battery-electric Range Rover Evoque for 2027 has not been confirmed in the official announcements reviewed. JLR has described an upcoming, unnamed Range Rover built on its Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) and says it is planned to get a full hybrid option in the future. Separately, Jaguar Land Rover Japan’s 2027 model-year Evoque lineup lists petrol, diesel mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions—not a battery-electric model. Those Japanese specifications do not establish what every market will offer.
Will the Range Rover Evoque go electric in 2027?
There is no confirmed announcement in the cited JLR materials that identifies a 2027 battery-electric Evoque. In its 17 June 2026 strategy announcement, JLR said an upcoming Range Rover model using EMA would be revealed later in 2026. The company did not name that vehicle as the Evoque, so its identity should not be assumed.
The distinction matters: EMA is the platform architecture in JLR’s plan, while the announcement does not provide an Evoque-specific launch date, specification or market rollout. Until JLR names the model, claims that the 2027 Evoque will be fully electric go beyond what the announcement establishes.
Will the 2027 Evoque be electric or hybrid?
JLR’s statement about the unnamed EMA Range Rover says it is planned to gain a full hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) option in the future. It does not give a date for that option or list the markets in which it will be available. That is a future plan for an unidentified Range Rover model, not confirmation of a 2027 Evoque hybrid.

In Japan, Jaguar Land Rover’s 2027 model-year Evoque announcement lists diesel mild-hybrid (MHEV), petrol and P300e plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants. Orders there began on 10 September 2026. The release does not list a battery-electric vehicle (BEV). This lineup is evidence for Japan only; it does not guarantee identical powertrains in other markets.
What the powertrain terms mean
- MHEV: A mild-hybrid system adds limited electric assistance to an engine. It is not a plug-in vehicle and is not a battery-electric car.
- PHEV: A plug-in hybrid combines an engine and electric motor and can be charged from an external power source. The Evoque P300e is this type.
- HEV: A full hybrid pairs an engine with electric propulsion, but JLR’s future HEV reference concerns an unnamed EMA Range Rover; no Evoque-specific timing is stated.
- BEV: A battery-electric vehicle runs on battery-powered electric propulsion rather than a petrol or diesel engine. The Japanese 2027 Evoque release does not list one.
What the Evoque P300e can do—and what its figures do not prove
JLR’s 2023 description of the P300e says it combines a three-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with an 80 kW electric motor, for a total output of 309 PS. The same release gives an electric-only range of up to 62 km (39 miles) from a 14.9 kWh battery. JLR also cited an approximately two-hour 0–100% charge using a 7 kW home charger, alongside rapid DC charging. These are manufacturer figures for the P300e described in that release, not specifications for a future electric Evoque; charging time and specifications can vary by conditions and market.

For context, JLR’s 2020 launch material initially gave different best-case P300e range and emissions figures, then corrected earlier figures in an October 2020 update. Those launch-era numbers are historical and should not be treated as current or 2027 specifications.
JLR executive James Sanderson described the PHEV in 2023 as capable of covering the average daily journey without using the petrol engine. That is the company’s characterization of the P300e, not an independent test result or a guarantee for every driver’s route and conditions.

What to watch for next
The decisive update will be JLR naming the first EMA Range Rover and publishing model-specific powertrain details. For the Evoque, look for an official market-specific announcement that names a BEV or HEV, states when it will be offered, and identifies the markets covered. Until then, the strongest supported answer is that a 2027 electric Evoque remains unconfirmed, while the published Japanese lineup includes hybridized and plug-in hybrid choices rather than a BEV.
