Ram’s reported goal is to make its planned full-size SUV meaningfully different from the Jeep Grand Wagoneer—not simply to sell the same vehicle with a different badge. That intent was attributed to then-Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis in a June 2026 report. The final Ram SUV’s name, specifications, price and launch timing have not been established by the sources available here.
What did Ram say about the SUV?
A June 21, 2026 report by MoparInsiders, describing an interview with The Drive, attributed the differentiation goal to Tim Kuniskis, who was Ram’s CEO at the time. The report reproduced this statement:
“So our whole intent was: look at what the other guys are doing with multiple versions in different showrooms and see how much we can differentiate these two sitting next to each other so it’s not like, ‘Hey, that one’s got a Jeep badge on it and that one’s got a Ram badge on it.’”
The point was not merely to distinguish the vehicles by emblem. Ram reportedly wants customers to see two distinct vehicles even when they are sold alongside each other. The quoted remarks express an intended positioning, not confirmation of the production SUV’s design or equipment. The underlying The Drive interview was not independently verified in the available source material.

How should shoppers understand “completely different”?
It describes the brand’s reported objective, not a published specification sheet. The available report does not establish exactly how Ram intends to differentiate the SUV in styling, cabin, trims, capability or powertrain. Those are the areas shoppers will need to compare once official details are released.
Jeep identifies the Grand Wagoneer as its full-size SUV beginning in 2026 in its 2027 Grand Wagoneer FAQ. It is the comparison vehicle—not another name for Ram’s planned SUV.

What is confirmed about the Ram SUV?
The June report describes it as Ram’s planned first full-size SUV, but it does not confirm a production name or complete powertrain lineup. Its discussion of possible engines, performance and trims is speculative; none should be treated as a final vehicle specification.
The sources also do not establish the Ram SUV’s price or launch timing. Until Ram or Stellantis publishes those details, comparisons on equipment, capability or value would be premature.

Who is Ram’s CEO now?
Kuniskis made the reported remarks while he was Ram CEO. Stellantis later announced that Matt VanDyke would become Ram brand CEO effective July 20, 2026, in its leadership announcement. The June comments should therefore be attributed to Kuniskis as the then-CEO, not to Ram’s current chief.

No. Stellantis’s February 2026 business reset said the previously planned Ram 1500 BEV pickup was canceled. That announcement concerned a pickup project; it does not establish that the separate planned SUV was canceled.
