The company said organizational changes were intended to improve efficiency and help it navigate market realities. It did not disclose the store’s closing date or how many employees were affected.
What happened to Rad Power Bikes’ Brooklyn store?
The Brooklyn RadRetail location had opened in October 2022. GeekWire reported on November 9, 2023, that Rad Power Bikes had confirmed it would close the store. The company declined to give GeekWire a closure date, the number of employees affected, or an updated company headcount. Why did Rad say it was closing the store?
Rad’s company statement described the decision as part of organizational changes to drive efficiency and position the business to navigate market realities. The company wrote: “The Rad Power Bikes team has worked diligently to ensure the company is in the best position possible to navigate the realities of the current market and become a sustainable, enduring business. While we have made some difficult decisions over the last several months, it has become necessary to make organizational changes to drive further efficiency in our business.” The statement was emailed to GeekWire and was not attributed to a named executive. How the closure fit Rad’s other 2023 cutbacks
The store announcement came amid layoffs and a planned retreat from European sales. GeekWire reported that Rad announced in July 2023 it would stop selling to customers in the United Kingdom and European Union starting in 2024, alongside plans for fewer than 40 layoffs. The report described those cuts as the company’s fifth round since April 2021. What changed after Rad’s 2023 closure announcement?
The Brooklyn closure is a historical event, not by itself a description of Rad’s current ownership or retail status. Rad’s announcement, published March 6, 2026, says Life EV completed a court-approved acquisition of the Rad Power Bikes brand, intellectual property, inventory, and certain operating assets on March 5, 2026. Rad’s warranty page gives February 27, 2026, as the date the brand came under new ownership, and says the former operator filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on December 15, 2025. The page also says the current owner has no obligation to provide warranty or other service for products purchased before December 15, 2025. Does Rad have a Brooklyn store or repair provider now?
Rad’s current locations page advertises retail partners, test rides, and more than 1,200 service partners nationwide. That company-published network figure does not establish that a Rad-owned Brooklyn store exists or identify a provider in Brooklyn. Check the current locations page and confirm directly with any shop that it can service your particular bike and obtain needed parts before arranging a repair. Rad’s locations page
