The Honda NT1100 could be a one-bike touring answer if your riding is mainly on paved roads and you want a mix of everyday usability, touring equipment and sport-tourer proportions. It is not a universal substitute for a larger two-up tourer, a lighter motorcycle, or an adventure-focused bike. The right choice depends on your market, fit, luggage needs, transmission preference and budget.
What kind of touring bike is the NT1100?
Honda positions the NT1100 as a sport-tourer: a road-focused motorcycle intended to combine sport-bike response with long-distance comfort. That description comes from Honda, not an independent comparative ride test. Its equipment and proportions make it worth considering for commuting, weekend rides and paved-road touring, but the phrase “the only touring bike you actually need” is a judgment, not a fact established by specifications.
That distinction matters because “touring” covers very different jobs. A rider who mostly travels paved highways with modest luggage may want a different motorcycle from someone who routinely carries a passenger and substantial cargo for long trips, rides rough roads, or prioritizes low-speed ease above all else.
What the 2026 specifications say—and which market they describe
Honda’s US and UK materials describe different market configurations. Do not assume that a feature, trim, price or measurement listed for one is included in the other.

2026 US NT1100 DCT
American Honda’s 2026 US model is the NT1100 DCT, with a 1,084cc liquid-cooled parallel twin and six-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Honda lists a 5.4-gallon fuel capacity, a 32.3-inch seat height and a 547-pound curb weight. That weight includes standard equipment, required fluids and a full tank. The listed base MSRP is $11,999; adding Honda’s $775 destination charge gives a total MSRP of $12,774. Taxes, registration, dealer fees and any discounts are separate. The US specifications also include a 43mm Showa SFF-BP inverted fork and Pro-Link Showa rear shock, each with 5.9 inches of travel; dual 310mm front discs and a 256mm rear disc with ABS; 17-inch tires; and a 60.4-inch wheelbase. Honda’s brochure specifies a #525 chain final drive. These are manufacturer figures for the US 2026 DCT, not independent measurements or claims about other years and markets. 2026 UK range
Honda UK lists a 2026 NT1100 price of £12,799 and specifications including 1,084cc displacement, 75 kW at 7,500 rpm, 112 Nm at 5,500 rpm, a 20.4-litre tank, an 820mm seat height and a 238kg kerb weight, plus 12kg for panniers. Its stated fuel consumption is 5.0 L/100 km. The UK range includes manual, DCT and electronic-suspension configurations at differing prices, so the headline price should not be treated as the price of every trim. Honda UK describes the updated model as having a six-axis IMU, cornering ABS, rear tyre lift control, revised low-speed DCT behavior, a five-level screen adjustable while seated, and standard panniers with four additional litres per side. The company says the panniers can accommodate a full-face helmet. Showa EERA electronic suspension is optional. These are UK/European-market descriptions; confirm fitment and availability for the particular country and trim. Honda’s UK model overview describes the update.

Why it could cover several jobs for one rider
Touring equipment without a full-dresser format
For the US DCT, Honda lists cruise control, ABS, selectable ride modes, connectivity and a five-position windscreen with 6.5 inches of adjustment. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on the US model; audio through a Bluetooth headset is optional. Honda also lists detachable luggage as optional in the US, unlike the UK update’s standard-pannier description. Those features may suit a rider who wants to commute and take longer paved-road trips on the same machine, rather than own a dedicated touring motorcycle. Adjustable screen height, cruise control and luggage provision address common touring needs on paper. They do not establish how the screen behaves in your airflow, how comfortable the seat feels after a full day, or how the motorcycle handles with your passenger and load.

DCT for riders who want to reduce clutch work
The US 2026 version reviewed here has a six-speed DCT rather than a manual gearbox. Honda describes the transmission as automatic while also providing rider control through paddle shifters. A rider who prefers a clutch lever and conventional gear changes should check whether a manual NT1100 is offered in their market and year; Honda UK lists manual and DCT versions in its 2026 range. Transmission availability is market-specific.
Who may be better served by another kind of motorcycle?
- Frequent two-up, long-distance riders: Compare passenger space, comfort, payload and luggage capacity in person. If carrying a passenger and substantial gear is the central use, a larger full-dresser category may be a better starting point.
- Riders who prioritize low-speed manageability: The US DCT’s 547-pound curb weight and 32.3-inch seat are relevant figures, but they cannot tell you how easy the bike is to balance, back up or maneuver with your own inseam and strength. A lighter middleweight may be worth comparing.
- Riders whose routes include rough roads: A road-focused sport-tourer is not automatically the best match for frequent unpaved travel. Compare adventure-oriented motorcycles for ground clearance, wheels, suspension, protection and luggage needs.
- Riders who want a manual gearbox or shaft drive: Confirm local trim availability and drivetrain. The US 2026 model specified here is DCT and chain-driven; the UK range includes manual versions. Chain-drive maintenance is an ownership factor to weigh against alternatives, not evidence by itself of poor value or reliability.
- Mostly urban riders: Touring equipment and a substantial tank may be less important than compact dimensions, low-speed ease and the realities of parking and daily traffic. Consider whether a touring-focused motorcycle suits your routine.
How to decide whether it is your one-bike answer
- Identify your actual routes. Separate regular commuting and paved-road trips from frequent rough-road travel or very long two-up journeys. The NT1100’s sport-tourer positioning best fits the paved-road use case.
- Confirm your local version. Check the model year, market, transmission and trim on Honda’s local site. Compare equipment only after confirming whether luggage, electronic suspension and other features are standard, optional or unavailable on that version.
- Check fit and loaded handling. Sit on the bike and, where possible, test ride it. Assess reach to the ground, weight at walking pace, passenger space and how it feels with the luggage you intend to use. A published seat height or curb weight is not a substitute for this.
- Work out the real touring setup. Verify luggage capacity and fitment for your year and trim, then consider what you carry and whether you travel with a passenger. Do not assume an accessory listed for one market or model year fits another.
- Compare local ownership costs and support. Check the purchase price after destination charges and local taxes or fees, dealer support, service requirements, chain maintenance and available parts. Honda’s specifications and marketing do not establish comparative reliability, resale value or total cost of ownership.
- Evaluate comfort on your routes. Use a test ride or credible independent road tests to assess wind buffeting, ergonomics and long-day comfort. Honda’s equipment list cannot answer those rider-specific questions.
Fuel capacity is not a verified touring range
The US model’s 5.4-gallon tank is a capacity figure, not a promise of a particular distance between stops. Honda UK’s 5.0 L/100 km figure is a manufacturer-stated consumption figure for its market specifications; it is not a third-party test of the US motorcycle. Do not combine figures from the two markets to calculate a verified range. Speed, weather, route, riding style, load and fuel reserve affect practical distance.

What the available evidence does not establish
Honda’s product pages and specifications are useful for identifying equipment, configurations and manufacturer-listed figures. They do not show that the NT1100 is superior to a named competitor, universally reliable, more comfortable than another touring motorcycle, or the best value over time. Nor do they supply an independent comparison of real-world handling, fuel economy or passenger comfort. Those decisions call for a test ride and current, like-for-like comparisons for the market and trim you can actually buy.
