The Falcon F7 was a hand-built, mid-engine American supercar from Falcon Motorsports in Holly, Michigan—not a car assembled in Detroit. Its Detroit connection was the auto show where it made its public splash. Today, the F7 remains notable for its ambitious engineering, tiny and disputed production run, and occasional appearances in collector-car listings and auctions.
What was the Falcon F7?
Falcon Motorsports was led by founder and designer Jeff Lemke, whose earlier work included Viper and Corvette projects. Falcon’s account says the 2009 downturn helped prompt him to pursue a supercar of his own. The company was based in Holly, about 55 miles north of Detroit, and described the F7 as an individualized, hand-built car rather than a high-volume production model. The car appeared at the 2011 North American International Auto Show; its production version debuted in 2012. Falcon Motorsports’ account of the F7’s Michigan origins
The Detroit framing is therefore about the car’s regional identity and auto-show debut, not its assembly location. In a 2012 Fox 2 Detroit report reproduced by Falcon, Lemke said he saw a missing market “in the $200,000 range.” That was his explanation of the project’s positioning, not an independent assessment of the car’s value or engineering. What engine and performance did the F7 offer?
The F7’s core layout was mid-engine and rear-wheel drive, with a Chevrolet LS7-derived 7.0-liter V8 and a six-speed transaxle. Contemporary launch coverage gave slightly different output figures for the naturally aspirated car: Road & Track reported 620 bhp and 585 lb-ft, while MotorTrend described VIN 001’s modified LS7 at 620 hp and 600 lb-ft. Both cited a claimed weight of 2,785 pounds. These are period specifications, not results from road tests by those publications. Falcon also advertised a more powerful Lingenfelter twin-turbo, intercooled V8 version. Its current product page rates that configuration at 1,100 hp and lists estimated acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds, a top speed above 200 mph, and a 10.9-second quarter mile. Those figures are manufacturer claims and estimates, not independently established test results. Falcon Motorsports’ F7 specifications
How was the F7 built?
Falcon’s current specifications page calls the structure an aluminum/carbon-fiber/Kevlar monocoque. MotorTrend’s 2012 launch coverage instead describes a hydroformed tube chassis with composite body panels. The descriptions differ, and available accounts do not establish whether that reflects a changing specification, a difference in terminology, or a particular car’s construction. The safest summary is that Falcon emphasized lightweight construction and composite materials, while attributing the more specific chassis descriptions to their sources. How many Falcon F7s were built?
The production total is not settled by the available records. Falcon said in August 2015 that it was building its ninth F7. Later retrospectives and numbered auction listings, however, identify cars as part of a seven-car total. That discrepancy means a definitive count should not be presented without qualification. The numbered cars documented in auction results make clear how small the surviving-car pool is, but they do not by themselves explain Falcon’s earlier ninth-car statement. What did the F7 cost, and what have used examples sold for?
New-car prices reported in 2015 were approximately $295,000 for the standard F7 and $395,000 for the twin-turbo version. Those are historical prices, not current asking prices. Falcon Motorsports, August 2015

More recent completed auctions show how individual used-car outcomes can differ from those old new-car figures. Cars & Bids recorded a 2012 F7 numbered #2 selling for $129,000 and a 2014 F7 #5 selling for $181,000 in 2025. These are two specific sales, not a reliable market valuation or a promise of what another F7 will fetch; condition, specification, documentation, and sale timing all matter. Can you still buy a Falcon F7?
F7s can surface through specialist dealers and collector-car auctions, but listings change and a search result is not proof that a car remains available. As checked on October 8, 2026, Cars & Bids showed no live F7 auctions. Hemisphere Motor Company’s inventory page carried a 2014 F7 listing dated November 6, 2025, with the price available on request; its live status should be confirmed directly. Falcon’s own site also has an inquiry form. Cars & Bids F7 results · Hemisphere Motor Company inventory · Falcon Motorsports

Why does the F7 still matter?
The F7 is a useful reminder that a small independent automaker could bring a serious, high-powered supercar project to the Detroit auto-show conversation without having the scale of an established exotic-car brand. Its rarity is part of the appeal, but also a reason to read claims carefully: the production count conflicts, specifications vary by version and source, and performance numbers on Falcon’s page are estimates. Period coverage captured the car as an ambitious newcomer; the lasting story is how a tiny Michigan project made that ambition tangible, then left only a handful of documented examples circulating among collectors.
