Yes—among the three U.S. electric pickups compared in Cox Automotive and Kelley Blue Book’s estimates, the Tesla Cybertruck led sales in the first half of 2026. It did not lead because sales were growing: its estimated 7,263 sales through June were down 32.2% year over year. The figures support a period-specific lead over the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T, not dominance of the broader pickup market.
Is the Cybertruck the best-selling electric pickup?
In Cox Automotive and Kelley Blue Book’s U.S. model estimates, the Cybertruck sold more than the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T in both Q1 and Q2 2026. The estimates are for battery-electric pickup models, not every pickup powertrain or the global market.

All figures are Cox Automotive/Kelley Blue Book U.S. sales estimates for 2026, not Tesla-reported Cybertruck deliveries. The second-quarter report puts the Cybertruck at 3,744 for Q2 and 7,263 year to date; its comparable 2025 figures were 4,306 for Q2 and 10,712 year to date. That is a 13.1% year-over-year drop in Q2 and a 32.2% drop through June. The first-quarter estimate was down 45.1% year over year. What does “dominating” mean—and what does it not mean?
The Cybertruck’s lead is specific: it topped the two named rivals in these U.S. model estimates over the first half of 2026. The figures do not establish that it dominates all pickups, holds the largest share of the total pickup market, leads by revenue, or sells more worldwide. They also say nothing by themselves about profitability, owner satisfaction, or lifetime sales.

Tesla’s own delivery reports do not disclose a Cybertruck-only total. The company groups it with other vehicles under “Other Models”: that category covered 50,850 deliveries for full-year 2025 and 12,364 deliveries in Q2 2026, but includes multiple models and cannot be treated as a Cybertruck count. Why might the Cybertruck appeal to electric-pickup buyers?
Its practical case combines truck utility with electric-vehicle features, though usefulness depends on the vehicle’s equipment and the owner’s needs. Tesla says the truck can provide power through onboard outlets or, with a Mobile Connector and Powershare Outlet Adapter, through its charge port. Depending on configuration, the FAQ lists a 240-volt bed outlet and two 120-volt cabin outlets. Tesla also offers Powershare Home Backup equipment, but using the truck for home backup requires eligibility and installation by a Tesla Certified Installer; the vehicle alone is not a complete home-backup installation.

For off-road use, Tesla describes differential-locking hardware, with an important trim distinction: its FAQ says Cyberbeast has a front locking differential, while other Cybertruck vehicles have front and rear locking differentials. Tesla also identifies a Terrestrial Armor Package for underside battery protection during off-road driving and an Off-Road Light Bar for added visibility. These features can matter to buyers who prioritize power access or off-pavement equipment, but they do not establish that the Cybertruck is more capable than competitors in every use case. What should buyers compare before choosing an electric pickup?
A sales lead does not determine which truck is right for an individual buyer. Compare vehicles with the same model year and relevant configuration, and verify current specifications and pricing before purchase. Useful points include:

- Bed dimensions, cargo handling, and day-to-day practicality.

- Warranty, service access, and vehicle-specific recall status.
Tesla’s FAQ also lists 3D All-Weather Interior Liners among Foundation Series items. That does not establish current stock, fitment for every year or trim, or compatibility of third-party floor mats; check the listing and vehicle details before buying.

No. Tesla says a voluntary noncompliance recall applies to certain 2024, 2025, and 2026 model-year Cybertrucks built from November 13, 2023, through October 11, 2025, if they run software earlier than version 2025.38.3. The issue concerns front parking-lamp intensity under FMVSS 108. Tesla identifies software version 2025.38.3 or later as the over-the-air remedy and says a service appointment is not required for vehicles updated to that version. Check your VIN and installed software against Tesla’s recall information; the campaign does not apply to every Cybertruck.
