BluSmart is implicated because it was a related-party electric ride-hailing business associated with Gensol promoters Anmol Singh Jaggi and Puneet Singh Jaggi. Gensol told SEBI it bought electric vehicles with loans from public lenders IREDA and PFC and leased them to BluSmart. SEBI later alleged that some loan money was diverted from that purpose. Those are serious allegations and interim findings—not proof that BluSmart itself misused the loans or that anyone has been convicted.
Why BluSmart appears in the Gensol investigation
Gensol Engineering and Gensol EV Lease were involved in borrowing money to acquire electric vehicles (EVs); BluSmart operated an electric ride-hailing business. The companies were associated through Gensol’s promoters, the Jaggi brothers. Gensol told the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) that it procured vehicles and leased them to BluSmart.

That relationship made BluSmart relevant to investigators tracing where the vehicles and loan funds went. It does not, by itself, show that BluSmart received or misused loan proceeds, or establish that the ride-hailing company committed an offence. The reported allegations focus on the borrowers, the movement of funds and entities linked to the promoters.

SEBI’s April 15, 2025 interim order said Gensol had availed ₹977.75 crore in term loans from IREDA and the Power Finance Corporation (PFC). Of that, ₹663.89 crore was earmarked for financing 6,400 EVs.

SEBI’s order said Gensol acknowledged procuring 4,704 vehicles. That is 1,696 fewer than the 6,400 vehicles for which the EV financing had been obtained. The order also recorded that supplier Go-Auto confirmed total consideration of ₹567.73 crore for those 4,704 vehicles.
SEBI calculated that about ₹262.13 crore remained unaccounted for in its comparison of expected vehicle deployment—including the required margin contribution—with the consideration reported by Go-Auto. This is SEBI’s calculation in an interim regulatory order; it should not be treated as a court-established finding that exactly that amount was stolen or that the calculation alone proves where every rupee went.

SEBI’s fund-tracing allegations
SEBI said its examination of bank statements showed that money transferred to Go-Auto for EV purchases was, in many instances, transferred back to Gensol or routed to entities directly or indirectly related to the Jaggi brothers. The order alleged that some uses were unrelated to the sanctioned loan purpose, including personal expenses, high-end real estate and benefits to promoter-linked entities.
Those statements describe SEBI’s prima facie findings and allegations. They do not amount to a final adjudication of every transaction or establish that BluSmart itself directed or knowingly participated in any alleged diversion.

Why the reported amount changes across the case
The ₹262.13 crore figure in SEBI’s 2025 order and the larger loss figures reported in connection with IREDA’s 2026 complaint refer to different assessments and should not be merged into one “missing money” total.

The latter figures come from IREDA’s complaint as reported in connection with the criminal investigation; they are allegations, not an adjudicated loss. Their scope and basis are not interchangeable with SEBI’s earlier vehicle-cost comparison.

What SEBI, the MCA and the CBI have done
The agencies are pursuing different legal tracks. SEBI’s action concerns securities-market regulation, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) ordered a company-law investigation, and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a criminal FIR following IREDA’s complaint.

What the CBI complaint reportedly alleges
India Today reported on August 20, 2026, that IREDA’s complaint alleged forged letters had been submitted to credit-rating agencies, purportedly issued by IREDA, about the loans and withdrawal of ratings. The complaint reportedly said IREDA officials had not issued those letters and described them as forged. This remains an allegation in the complaint, not a finding established at trial.

Has the Gensol–BluSmart case been proved in court?
The record described in the available dated actions does not establish a final conviction, a completed publicly resolved forensic-audit outcome for every investigative track, or a final court ruling proving that BluSmart misused EV-loan funds. SEBI’s July 30, 2025 confirmatory order explicitly characterized its observations as tentative while detailed investigation and forensic-audit work remained pending. The 2026 CBI FIR adds a criminal-investigation track, but registration of an FIR is not a verdict.
The most accurate way to describe the case is therefore as an ongoing set of regulatory, corporate-law and criminal investigations into alleged loan diversion and related conduct. BluSmart is within the MCA inquiry and is connected to the financing structure through Gensol’s stated vehicle-leasing arrangement; that association should not be presented as proof of its own guilt.
