Porsche’s sales are falling, but not for one universal reason and not in every market. Porsche AG delivered 279,449 vehicles worldwide in 2025, 10.1% fewer than in 2024, and group deliveries fell another 16.5% year over year in the first half of 2026. Porsche attributes the pressure to a difficult luxury market, especially intense competition for electric cars in China, supply gaps, and model changeovers such as the end of 718 Boxster and Cayman production. For shoppers, the key point is that lower deliveries do not automatically mean lower prices. The useful response is to check the exact local car, obtain written out-the-door offers, and include Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles in the comparison.
What the reported numbers actually show
Porsche’s 2025 global result was a meaningful decline, but the regional pattern was uneven. China was the largest pressure point, while North American deliveries were almost flat. Porsche also reported 2025 sales revenue of €36,272 million, down 9.5% from the prior year. The company said lower group sales were the main factor, partly offset by mix and price effects.

These are Porsche’s reported deliveries, not registrations from every country and not retail transaction prices. A delivery is recorded when a vehicle reaches a customer or market channel; it does not reveal the discount, financing rate, trade-in allowance, or profit on that vehicle.

Luxury demand and tougher competition in China
Porsche’s 2025 delivery release cites difficult conditions in the luxury segment and intense competition, particularly for all-electric models in China. Deliveries there fell 26.3%, a much steeper decline than in North America. That statement supports a market- and product-specific explanation, not a claim that one macroeconomic event explains every Porsche sale.

China is also an unusually competitive electric-car market. Buyers have more premium electric choices, and established brands face fast product cycles and aggressive local competition. Porsche’s own explanation links the pressure specifically to luxury demand and electric-model competition; broader claims about consumer confidence, property markets, or tariffs would require separate evidence.
Supply gaps and regulatory-related shortages
Porsche said shortages of combustion-engined 718 and Macan models affected Germany and the rest of Europe. The company associated those gaps with European cybersecurity regulations. When a desired version is unavailable, a buyer may postpone an order, switch powertrains, or buy another brand. A lower delivery count can therefore reflect missing supply as well as weaker demand.
The same issue complicates 2026 comparisons. Porsche’s first-half 2026 report identifies the discontinuation of the 718 Boxster and Cayman as a relevant factor. Porsche Cars North America later said that near-zero 718 deliveries in the United States reflected the planned run-out. A product ending its production cycle naturally produces fewer deliveries even if the remaining cars are still sought after.

Model launches and powertrain mix distort year-over-year comparisons
Electric and combustion versions do not enter a company’s figures at the same time. The prior-year ramp-up of the all-electric Macan affects some 2026 comparisons, while Taycan deliveries declined in 2025. Porsche reported 84,328 Macan deliveries in 2025, up 1.9%, including 45,367 all-electric Macans. That total combines electric and combustion Macans, and availability differs by market, so it cannot be read as a pure measure of electric demand.
The Macan example shows why a group decline does not mean every nameplate is shrinking. A new powertrain can add volume while an older version is constrained, and a model can grow globally while being unavailable in a particular country or specification.
Porsche is deliberately managing supply for value
Porsche’s annual report describes a value-oriented sales approach intended to balance supply and demand rather than maximize unit volume at any cost. This is the company’s stated strategy. It does not prove that dealers are cutting prices, that incentives are widespread, or that used values are falling. Managing production and allocations can protect brand positioning while still producing fewer deliveries.

Are Porsche sales down everywhere?
No. The regional and model results move in different directions, and the reporting periods are not identical.

Timo Resch, president and CEO of Porsche Cars North America, summarized the U.S. pattern this way: “The strength of the Cayenne and the continued appeal of the 911 demonstrate the breadth of demand across our product portfolio.” The statement is consistent with the model-level data: some products remain strong while another is disappearing from the lineup.
Does a sales decline mean buyers can get a Porsche deal?
Not by itself. The reported releases provide delivery counts and revenue, but they do not provide a market-wide series for transaction prices, dealer discounts, or used-car values. A falling group total can coexist with full-price sales of scarce cars, incentives on a specific unit, or no change at all in a popular trim.

Inventory is local and specification-specific. A dealer may have several cars in an unpopular color but no allocation for the engine, seat package, or transmission you want. Conversely, a scarce configuration may command strong demand even while the group total is down. Treat any claim of a universal Porsche discount cycle as unproven unless it is backed by current written offers in your market.
How to shop intelligently while the market is changing
- Define the exact vehicle. Record the model, body style, powertrain, model year, production status, options, exterior and interior colors, and must-have equipment. “A Macan” or “a 911” is not specific enough for a price comparison.
- Check real local inventory. Porsche Finder lists current dealer inventory. Availability and displayed figures can change, and dealers set actual selling prices. Use the listing to identify stock numbers and equipment, then confirm that the car is physically available and whether it is sold, reserved, or in transit.
- Request written, like-for-like offers. Ask each dealer for the selling price, destination and documentation fees, taxes, registration, dealer-installed items, financing assumptions, trade-in value, and delivery date. Compare the total out-the-door amount rather than a monthly payment.
- Separate a discount from a financing change. A lower payment can come from a longer term, a larger down payment, or a promotional interest rate. Compare the cash price and the total amount paid over the loan or lease.
- Ask about production and allocation. If a 718 or a combustion Macan is unavailable, find out whether the issue is a discontinued model, a temporary supply gap, or a market-specific allocation. The answer affects waiting time, replacement choices, and future service support.
- Value your trade independently. Obtain at least one outside appraisal or a separate purchase quote. A dealer can make a new-car discount appear larger by reducing the trade-in allowance, or make a trade look generous while holding the new-car price firm.
- Include CPO cars. Compare a Porsche Approved vehicle with a new one using the same model, powertrain, equipment, history, condition, price, and coverage period. A CPO car may provide a better specification or immediate availability, but its premium is worthwhile only if the inspection, warranty, and vehicle condition justify it.
- Keep every promise in writing. Save the build sheet, buyer’s order, warranty terms, promised accessories, and delivery estimate. Verbal statements about incoming allocations or future values are not substitutes for contract terms.
What Porsche Approved CPO adds to the comparison
Porsche USA says its CPO process includes a vehicle inspection, warranty coverage, and roadside assistance. Its warranty information states that, after the original new-vehicle warranty expires, the CPO warranty lasts two years with unlimited mileage, subject to the program’s terms. Coverage and eligibility are market- and vehicle-specific, so read the actual contract for the car you are considering.

The 2.3% increase in U.S. CPO sales during the third quarter of 2026 indicates that buyers continue to use the program. It does not establish that CPO cars became cheaper or that every used Porsche is a bargain.

What electric-car shoppers should check
Macan Electric and Taycan comparisons require more than looking at the badge. Confirm the exact battery and powertrain version, charging equipment, software and connectivity features, warranty coverage, and the service network in your area. Ask whether the listed car is a current model year, a demonstrator, or an earlier production run. Regional availability can differ substantially, and a global delivery total cannot tell you how quickly a local dealer can replace a specific electric configuration.
Compare charging access and energy costs with the same care you apply to purchase price. A home charger, apartment access, public-charging reliability, and long-distance route coverage can determine whether an electric Porsche fits your use better than a combustion model, regardless of the group’s sales trend.
How to read the 2026 decline without overreacting
The first-half 2026 fall of 16.5% is not a clean demand experiment because it includes the 718 Boxster and Cayman production run-out and follows the previous year’s Macan Electric ramp-up. Porsche’s U.S. third-quarter release makes the timing issue visible: 718 deliveries were nearly zero, while Cayenne deliveries rose 36% and 911 demand remained strong. A single quarter or half-year therefore cannot answer whether buyers have broadly lost interest in Porsche.
For a purchase decision, separate three questions: Is the model still being produced? Is the exact configuration available in your market? What is the written total price today? Those answers are more actionable than the global percentage.
Practical decision guide
- Buy new now when the exact specification is available, the written total is acceptable, and waiting would cost you more in time or financing than any likely incentive.
- Consider a different model when a run-out product has no allocation or when a current model offers the equipment and support you need without a long wait.
- Choose CPO when a documented car has the right specification, clean history, acceptable condition, and meaningful remaining coverage at a total cost you can verify.
- Wait and keep shopping when a dealer will not provide a complete buyer’s order, the car’s status is unclear, or the price depends on an uncertain trade-in or financing assumption.
Porsche’s falling deliveries create a reason to negotiate carefully, not a guarantee of a bargain. The evidence shows a business dealing with regional luxury-market pressure, Chinese electric competition, supply constraints, and product transitions. Because the effects differ by model and location, the best buyer advantage comes from detailed comparisons of actual cars and contracts rather than from assuming that every Porsche has become cheaper.
