Rider Magazine described an $85,000 out-the-door price in its 2020 review, while the Los Angeles Times reported an initial $78,000 price in 2014. The main reasons the price is high
Low-volume custom production
The Speed Journal describes ARCH’s method as “custom production”: the basic design remains consistent, while buyers select control combinations and finish treatments. Parts are produced in runs counted in single digits. Engineering, machine setup, tooling, inspection and finishing therefore serve very few motorcycles, so ARCH cannot spread those costs across the volumes achieved by a major manufacturer.

Billet machining and labor-intensive finishing
High-volume motorcycles commonly rely on cast, molded or shared components. ARCH instead uses extensively machined billet-aluminum parts and detailed hand finishing. Is an ARCH hand-built or custom made?
Both descriptions are useful, but they mean different things. ARCH uses a repeatable core design, so the KRGT-1 is not engineered from scratch for every customer. It is “custom production”: a limited series assembled with owner-selected controls and finishes, using substantial machining and hand-finishing. That makes each motorcycle individually curated without making every component a unique prototype.

Motorcycle News rated the KRGT-1 four out of five, called it exquisitely finished and said its accomplished ride separates it from many expensive rolling art pieces. The same review said it was difficult to call £90,000 conventional value. Rider Magazine likewise presents the $85,000 price as understandable in light of the motorcycle’s limited-production, hand-built character and performance, not as a consequence of raw specifications alone.
The differing published output figures deserve care: ARCH’s 2026 listing says 170 hp, while Motorcycle News reported 94 bhp for its 2023 tested model. Without a common dyno, model-year specification and test procedure, those numbers should not be used as a direct performance comparison.
