Used 2014–2016 Toyota Camrys have held their prices unusually well, and a 2016 Camry averages $14,348.12 on iSeeCars’ current model-year page. That is a national model-level average, not a fair price for every car—and the available data do not establish that a Camry costs more than a comparable Accord, Mazda6, Fusion, or Sonata after mileage, condition, trim, and location are matched.
What the 2026 market evidence says
CarGurus says 2014, 2015, and 2016 Camry listing prices have been flat to rising year over year, describing those model years as having “held their value best.” These are asking-price trends, not completed-sale data or proof that a Camry commands a premium over a like-for-like rival. CarGurus’ used Camry listings and its 2016 Camry listings can help shoppers see current inventory, but any individual listing still needs to be compared on its own terms.
iSeeCars estimates 10-year depreciation for the Camry at 59.1%, compared with 63.6% for sedans overall and 65.1% for all vehicles. Its current resale analysis says it examined more than 15 million vehicles. Those figures describe modeled value retention across vehicles; they do not predict what a particular car will sell for. Kelley Blue Book named the Camry the 2026 Best Resale Value winner in the midsize-car category. The award is based on projected residual values for 2026 model-year vehicles in KBB’s January/February 2026 Residual Value Guide, so it supports the Camry’s resale strength as a new-car model; it is not a direct measurement of ten-year-old Camry sale prices. Why buyers may accept a firm asking price
Strong resale performance and model-level longevity estimates may make some shoppers more willing to consider an older Camry, which could help keep its asking prices firm. That is a plausible explanation, not proof of what motivates individual buyers or the cause of any one car’s price.
iSeeCars estimates an average Camry lifespan of 172,479 miles, or about 13.1 years, and a modeled 31.8% chance of reaching 200,000 miles. The estimates draw on more than 300 million vehicle data points, but describe the model as a whole—not the future of a specific car with an unknown maintenance history. How to decide whether a particular 2016 Camry is worth its price
- Compare locally, not just nationally. Check current listings near you for the same year and similar trim, mileage, condition, title and accident history, seller type, and maintenance documentation. Use comparable cars to judge the asking price; listing prices are not confirmed transaction prices.
- Get a current valuation for the exact car. KBB provides Fair Purchase Prices by trim for the 2016 Camry, describes them as typical-condition dealer-purchase prices, and updates values weekly. The figure for an individual vehicle varies with mileage, condition, and location, so use the live page for your ZIP code rather than treating a national or search-result figure as definitive. - Review records and title history. Ask for service documentation and check the vehicle’s title and history. A history report can be useful, but it should not be treated as a complete record of everything that has happened to the car.
- Arrange an independent pre-purchase inspection. A mechanic can assess the specific car’s condition, which is more relevant to its value than a model-wide reliability estimate. An OBD-II reader may help check for diagnostic codes, but it is only a limited aid and does not replace a mechanic’s inspection.
- Compare the full deal. Include fees, taxes, and seller terms in the out-the-door figure, not just the advertised price.
Is a $17,000 2016 Camry SE with 66,000 miles a good price?
That question has appeared in a public Reddit discussion, but the example is not a verified valuation. The national iSeeCars average of $14,348.12 cannot settle whether that specific SE is worth $17,000: trim, condition, location, title history, service records, and dealer fees can all affect the comparison. Check its current local value and compare it with similarly equipped cars before deciding. View the discussion.

The evidence supports the conclusion that Camry resale values are strong and that 2014–2016 listing prices have remained firm. It does not show how large any premium is over a directly comparable midsize sedan, because the cited marketplace data do not match cars by mileage, trim, condition, location, and history. Nor do the figures prove reliability is the sole reason buyers accept a given price.

For a like-for-like check, compare the Camry with other midsize sedans using the same asking-price or transaction-price basis and matching mileage, trim or powertrain, condition, accident and title history, location, seller type, and maintenance records. Do not use an award for projected resale of new 2026 cars as a direct comparison with ten-year-old vehicles.
