Which 2026 GM models are confirmed to tow hands-free?
2026 GMC Sierra EV
GM’s 2026 Sierra EV announcement confirms Super Cruise as standard on the Denali and available on the Elevation. That makes these the specifically confirmed 2026 examples in the available official information; availability on Elevation means it is an option, not equipment on every Elevation. Check the vehicle’s exact trim and configuration. GM’s 2026 Sierra EV announcement also notes that towing figures depend on configuration.
GM’s broader Super Cruise model page lists vehicle lines and the model years in which the feature first became available. A starting model year does not prove that every 2026 version has Super Cruise or that a particular configuration supports trailering. The available evidence therefore does not justify presenting a complete 2026 list across GMC, Chevrolet, Cadillac and Buick.
Do not use 2027 equipment as proof of 2026 availability
GM’s September 2026 announcement about the Sierra 1500 describes 2027 model-year equipment, including Super Cruise with trailering capability on specified trims. It does not establish the feature’s availability on a 2026 Sierra 1500. Read the announcement’s model-year details before using it to compare vehicles.

What hands-free towing with Super Cruise means
Super Cruise is a driver-assistance system that can manage steering, acceleration and braking on compatible roads under certain conditions. “Hands-free” describes the driver’s hands, not their attention: GM says the driver must watch the road and be ready to resume steering. It is not eyes-off or autonomous driving. GM’s system overview explains its road and operating limitations.
When a compatible trailer is connected, GM says Super Cruise can adjust to certain towing conditions, including increasing the following gap to allow more stopping distance. That adjustment does not replace safe trailer loading, adequate braking, or staying within the vehicle’s ratings. GM’s towing guidance explains that towing limits vary by vehicle setup and that passengers and cargo affect the available capacity.

How to check whether a specific GM vehicle can tow hands-free
- Confirm the model year and trim. Use current official information for the exact vehicle; do not infer 2026 equipment from a 2027 announcement.
- Verify the installed feature. Ask whether Super Cruise is fitted to that vehicle’s VIN and whether its configuration includes trailering capability. A model-line listing alone is not enough.
- Check route and trailer compatibility. Confirm that the intended roads and trailer meet Super Cruise’s operating conditions. The system is limited to compatible roads and may not be available in every situation.
- Check the actual towing limits. Confirm tow rating, payload, tongue weight and combined-weight limits for the vehicle’s configuration and intended load, including passengers and cargo.
- Review service terms. Confirm any included period, renewal requirements and current plan pricing for the vehicle and market.

GM’s August 18, 2026 explainer says equipped vehicles include three years of Super Cruise and that plans afterward start at $39.99 per month. These are the terms and starting price stated in that dated explainer, not a guarantee for every model, market or purchase; check current terms for the specific vehicle.
