How to compare the prices fairly

- Choose the specific grades and drivetrains. The RAV4 Hybrid is offered with front-wheel drive or electronic on-demand all-wheel drive, depending on grade. A starting price for the FWD model is not a direct price for every AWD grade.
- Use the same price basis. Compare MSRP with MSRP, or ask for written out-the-door quotes for both vehicles. If one figure includes dealer processing, handling, destination or other charges and the other does not, the apparent difference is not apples to apples.
- Compare actual quotes on the same date. Ask each dealer to identify the model year, trim, drivetrain, installed options, discounts and itemized fees. The quote for each specific configuration determines which costs more—not the model names alone.
Fuel economy is a separate comparison
Fuel economy can affect running costs, but it does not change which vehicle has the lower purchase price.
