The biggest recent change to Ford’s Nugget camper van is a fixed high-roof version unveiled in August 2025. It adds permanent interior headroom and storage, while the established folding pop-top remains the lower-profile option when closed. The wider range also spans short- and long-wheelbase bodies and, in some markets, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Exact combinations and equipment depend on country and trim; the Nugget is developed with camper converter Westfalia.
What changed on the Ford Nugget?
Ford introduced the fixed high-roof Nugget at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon in August 2025. Unlike a pop-top, its roof does not fold down for travel. Ford says the permanent roof creates more sleeping and storage space and makes the camper more suitable for use throughout the year. Those are the manufacturer’s claims, not the result of an independent insulation or winter-use test.

The high-roof announcement was a new body style, not a replacement for the pop-top Nugget. Ford’s 2026 materials describe both folding-roof and fixed-roof models, as well as a plug-in hybrid option. Which roof, engine, trim, length and drivetrain can be ordered together varies by market.
The original German high-roof launch specification
At the 2025 German market introduction, Ford specified the high-roof Nugget in Titanium trim with a 150 PS 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel, six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive. Treat that as the launch configuration for that market—not as a specification for every current high-roof Nugget.

Fixed high roof or folding pop-top?

A pop-top’s lower closed height can be useful where garages, barriers or other height limits matter; a fixed roof prioritizes space inside without setting up the roof. Neither choice is automatically better for every trip. The official specifications cited here do not establish a like-for-like comparison of weight, fuel economy or prices across all roof variants.
How do length, powertrain and drivetrain choices vary?
Ford’s 2026 range information covers short- and long-wheelbase bodies, diesel versions and a plug-in hybrid option. The UK price list, effective 1 April 2026, illustrates how much the exact specification can vary: it lists 150 PS manual and 170 PS automatic diesel versions, with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive in specified trims. It does not establish that every engine or drivetrain is offered with every roof, body length or trim.

Ford Germany’s current product page describes a plug-in hybrid Nugget and lists a 13-inch SYNC 4 touchscreen, 5G modem, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. Product pages are localized and can change, so check current availability in the market where you plan to order.

Ford UK’s list effective 1 April 2026 provides a concrete reference for the folding-roof van. It gives dimensions and camper equipment for that UK specification; these figures should not be applied to the fixed high-roof body or to Nugget versions sold elsewhere.

Those dimensions are useful for checking a specific UK pop-top against parking or access restrictions. For either wheelbase, check the actual vehicle configuration and required clearance rather than relying on a general Nugget height.
What is the 40 Years Nugget edition?
Ford announced the limited 40 Years Nugget edition in 2026. Orders opened in January, with deliveries due to begin in spring. Ford Germany announced a starting price of €89,646.65, matching the equivalent L2 Active specification at the time. This is a Germany-specific announcement price for the special edition, not a current price for all Nuggets or markets.

What do the German sales figures say?
Ford Pro reported more than 2,000 Nugget registrations in Germany during 2025 and a 16% share of that country’s urban camper segment, placing the model second behind the VW California. These are Ford-reported German figures for 2025, not global sales totals.
