Grand Design lists the two versions with the same headline dimensions, tank capacities and $208,813 MSRP on its product page accessed October 4, 2026. It advertises sleeping for two to four, with the pop-top option needed for four. The manufacturer’s published specifications and equipment claims are useful starting points, but confirm the model year, build and price for the specific van you are considering.
What is the Grand Design Lineage VT?
Grand Design describes the Lineage Series VT as a purpose-built, RVIA-certified adventure van built on an AWD Ford Transit chassis. The company announced it on April 23, 2025, calling it its first Class B motorhome. Those certification and first-in-company descriptions are Grand Design’s claims; the manufacturer announcement is not an independent certification or market comparison.

Grand Design’s live VT product page lists both LVT1 and LVT2, but the published material reviewed here does not establish a feature-by-feature difference in layout or equipment. It gives the same headline exterior dimensions, tank capacities and MSRP for both. Do not assume the names indicate a particular bed arrangement or included option.

How many people does the Lineage VT sleep?
Grand Design lists sleeping capacity as two to four. Its launch announcement says the optional pop-top allows the van to sleep four. The listed capacity does not by itself establish how many passengers can travel in seat-belted positions; check the seating and restraint details for the specific floorplan and unit.

Off-grid equipment and the 48V battery claim
In its April 23, 2025 launch announcement, Grand Design names a 48V Lithionics system and says it can provide “up to 3 days with AC” away from shore power. That is a manufacturer claim, not an independently tested runtime. The announcement does not establish a duty cycle, weather conditions or real-world usage profile for that figure. Ask the dealer for the battery configuration in the unit you are evaluating and consult its documentation for operating limits.
The same announcement identifies a 20,000-BTU split AC system, an InvisaCook undermount induction cooktop and a convertible AquaHaven rainshower system. Treat these as announced equipment, then verify which items are included on the actual van rather than assuming every model year or build has identical equipment. Grand Design also calls the integrated pop-top “industry-first”; that superlative is the company’s characterization, not an independently established comparison.

Price, documentation and checks before buying
Grand Design’s owner-support page lists a “Lineage Series VT Owner’s Manual,” revised July 2026. Use the current manual for operating and maintenance instructions, and confirm that it applies to the unit and model year you are considering.

- Model year and whether the unit is an LVT1 or LVT2.
- Current floorplan, bed and table arrangement, and seat-belted travel seating.
- Whether the pop-top is installed or optional on that build, and the sleeping configuration it provides.
- Included equipment and battery-system configuration.
- Weight labels and the payload available once people and cargo are aboard.
- Current dealer price and any differences from the manufacturer’s published specifications.
Grand Design’s specifications are not a substitute for a unit-specific weight check. The published product page lists GVWR and axle ratings, but the actual coach’s labels and build documentation are what a buyer should use to assess its loading limits.
Grand Design’s official pages do not establish independent fuel-economy figures, road-test results, owner reliability data or a comparative test against competing vans. Those qualities should not be inferred from the listed specifications or the launch announcement.
