Harbor Freight sells a kart-specific Predator 212cc GHOST engine and a matching accessory kit, but neither is a complete go-kart package. You will still need a frame-specific mount and a compatible kart with its own chassis, steering, brakes, wheels, axle and drivetrain. Use Harbor Freight’s engine and kit as parts of a build—not as everything required to make one.
What Harbor Freight sells for a go-kart
Predator 212cc GHOST engine
The Predator 212cc GHOST Kart Racing Engine, item 57531, is marketed by Harbor Freight as a kart racing and competition engine. Harbor Freight says it fits most major chassis brands, but “most” does not mean universal compatibility. Check the engine’s current listing and specifications against your kart before purchase. Harbor Freight’s GHOST engine listing is the place to start.
Harbor Freight’s June 1, 2022 announcement identifies a digital ignition system with a built-in 6100 RPM rev limiter. That is a manufacturer-published engine specification, not a measured kart speed or a promise of performance in a particular build. Harbor Freight’s announcement does not establish how fast a finished kart will go.
GHOST 212cc accessory kit
The Predator GHOST 212cc Kart Racing Engine Accessory Kit, item 58057, is designed for the GHOST engine. The listing says the engine, engine mount and mounting plate are sold separately, so the kit does not include those essentials. Check the current accessory kit listing for current contents before relying on any specific item being included.

Harbor Freight’s 2022 announcement described the kit as including an exhaust pipe and muffler, silencer and mounting hardware, air filter, six-foot fuel line, head gasket, fuel pump and other items. Because product contents can change, confirm the present listing rather than treating that announcement as a current packing list. The announcement is dated June 1, 2022.
What is not included—and what a complete kart still needs
The GHOST engine manual labels the engine-to-frame motor mount and its hardware as not included. Its installation instructions also identify an exhaust pipe/muffler, fuel pump, fuel tank, fuel lines or tubes, air filter and throttle cable as not included with the engine. The accessory kit may supply some engine-related components, but check its current contents against the manual item by item; it does not replace the separate engine mount or mounting plate.

Beyond the engine package, a functioning kart requires a compatible frame and coordinated components such as steering, brakes, wheels, an axle and a drivetrain. The Harbor Freight sources cited here do not establish a complete parts list or endorse specific configurations for those systems. Choose them as part of a coherent kart design; do not assume an engine or generic kit will fit an unspecified chassis.
Check fit before buying or mounting the engine
Compatibility is a physical fit question, not just a chassis-brand claim. Harbor Freight advises checking the shaft and mounting specifications. Its catalog guidance identifies shaft and mounting-pattern shape and dimensions, thread size and orientation as factors to verify. The engine manual says to use a motor mount plate specifically designed for the go-kart frame.

- Check the mounting pattern, dimensions, thread size and orientation against the frame-specific mount and plate.
- Confirm that the mount is designed for your kart frame, rather than assuming the engine’s advertised broad fit claim covers it.
- Review the current engine and accessory-kit listings and the current manual before ordering; product details may change.
Harbor Freight’s catalog guidance says to verify specifications before buying a replacement. If the dimensions or orientation do not match, stop and resolve the fit rather than forcing the assembly.
Plan the engine controls and installation safely
The GHOST manual says the engine is not equipped with a governor and directs the installer to fit a throttle return spring before use. It also describes connecting a cable between the carburetor and the kart throttle. These are engine-installation requirements; they do not constitute a complete control or safety design for the kart.

Before installation, inspect the engine and components for damaged, loose or missing parts. Do not use the equipment until problems are fixed, and install the engine according to the instructions for the equipment it will power. If you cannot complete work safely or correctly, the manual directs you to use a qualified mechanic.
Harbor Freight’s manual warns: “Using an engine indoors CAN KILL YOU IN MINUTES.” Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which cannot be seen or smelled. Operate the engine outdoors, far from windows, doors and vents, as the manual instructs.

What this Harbor Freight list can—and cannot—tell you
The engine and its dedicated accessory kit give a builder a defined Harbor Freight starting point for the engine portion of a kart project. They do not establish a complete chassis, steering, braking, axle, wheel or drivetrain bill of materials, nor a total build cost or finished-kart speed. Those depend on the specific design and compatible parts selected; the cited Harbor Freight material does not supply a tested, complete build or endorse a particular configuration.
