What the Rome debut announced
Mercedes-Benz unveiled the new CLA at Villa Miani in Rome on March 13, 2025, calling it the first vehicle in a new model family. CEO Ola Källenius described it as the company’s most efficient and intelligent Mercedes yet and positioned it as the start of a new era. Those are the automaker’s launch claims, not independent measurements. Mercedes-Benz’s launch announcement also connected the debut to a “Class of Creators” campaign featuring Ice Spice, Gustaf Westman, Colm Dillane (KidSuper), League of Legends and Hot Wheels; that collaboration does not establish that a retail CLA collectible is available.
The Rome event introduced the CLA, not every body style in the family. Mercedes-Benz presented the CLA Shooting Brake later, in July 2025, and said its European market launch would begin in March 2026. Read the Shooting Brake announcement.
Which powertrains were announced?
Electric CLA 250+ and CLA 350 4MATIC
Mercedes-Benz USA identified the 2026 CLA 250+ with EQ Technology and CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology as the initial electric portfolio for the U.S. The company characterizes the 350 as the performance variant. 48-volt hybrid to follow
Mercedes-Benz announced a 48-volt hybrid as a second powertrain route, with rollout timing and specifications dependent on market and model year. In its December 2025 U.S. description, the company specified an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and a 1.3-kWh usable battery. It says the system can provide electric-only propulsion in some low-demand city driving, coast with the engine off in certain conditions and recuperate energy at up to 25 kW. In practical terms, the electric versions require charging, while the hybrid is intended to combine a combustion engine with electric assistance and limited electric-only driving. The published materials here do not establish a single global hybrid arrival date or a worldwide final specification.

How far can the electric CLA go, and how quickly can it charge?
Mercedes-Benz quotes up to 792 km of WLTP range for the CLA 250+ with EQ Technology and says it can add up to 325 km of range in 10 minutes under the company’s stated charging conditions. Those are manufacturer figures, not independently verified real-world results. Mercedes-Benz’s launch material presents the WLTP and charging claims.
For the U.S.-market 2026 CLA 250+, Mercedes-Benz USA gives an EPA range of up to 374 miles. That U.S. figure uses a different test cycle and market specification from the 792-km WLTP figure. They should not be treated as directly comparable measurements, and neither figure guarantees the distance a particular driver will achieve.

The cited material establishes the automaker’s published estimates; it does not establish an independent real-world range result or comparative test. For a buying decision, use the rating applicable to the exact local version and allow for driving conditions, charging access and equipment differences.
What changes inside: MB.OS and MBUX
Mercedes-Benz says the CLA is its first vehicle to run fully on its in-house MB.OS operating system. The company describes fourth-generation MBUX, AI integrations from Microsoft and Google, connected vehicle computing and over-the-air updates that can include driver-assistance functions. These are central software changes, though specific functions and availability may vary by market and configuration. The official launch materials describe the platform.
The MBUX Superscreen is optional, not standard equipment on every CLA. Buyers should check the specification and equipment list for their market rather than assume the show-car display setup is included. Mercedes-Benz’s CLA press kit also covers safety, driver assistance, aerodynamics, chassis and dimensions.
