What cars were shown in the leaked photos?
Motor1 reported on November 26, 2024, that Instagram account brunei_cars_2001 had posted images showing McLarens, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, Bentleys and other cars. That is the outlet’s description of the posts, not independent authentication of every vehicle or its owner. Motor1’s report documented the renewed online attention.

Manila Bulletin reported on December 5, 2024, that brunei_cars_2001 and taffy_c_s_145 were sharing pictures. It identified examples including a road-legal Porsche 962 and a specially commissioned Ferrari 456GT station wagon. Those identifications are the outlet’s, and the pictures should not be treated as a complete or confirmed catalogue. Manila Bulletin’s account describes the unusual models.

These are reported highlights, not a verified present-day list of vehicles or proof that any specific example remains in the same ownership or condition.

How many cars does the Sultan of Brunei have?
There is no verified public count of cars the Sultan personally owns today. CarExpert reported in November 2024 that the wider collection associated with the royal family was rumoured to have peaked at approximately 3,000 to 7,000 vehicles. CarExpert’s report presents that as a rumoured peak range, not a current audited total.

CarCody’s 2026 guide describes roughly 7,000 as a popular estimate for the collection at its peak. That figure concerns the wider royal-family collection, not a confirmed number of vehicles personally owned by the Sultan now. No public vehicle-by-vehicle audit establishes the collection’s current total, ownership split, location or condition.
Did the Sultan own all of them?
Calling the entire fleet “the Sultan’s cars” can imply a certainty the available reporting does not establish. Prince Jefri Bolkiah, the Sultan’s brother, is reported to have played a central role in assembling the collection. The sources do not establish that every car belonged to either brother individually, or that all vehicles are now held by one person.

Some coverage has described vehicles as abandoned or deteriorated, but that is not evidence that the whole collection is derelict, in one place or inaccessible. Reports about some cars cannot establish the condition or whereabouts of every vehicle.
