What the Costco Auto Program Includes—and What It Doesn’t in 2026

Costco’s Auto Program connects members with approved dealers for prearranged pricing and possible incentives. Here are the included benefits, service discounts, exclusions and transaction limits.

The Costco Auto Program is a member buying service, not a car dealership. Costco arranges a prearranged price with an approved franchised dealer, lets eligible members request a personalized Member-Only Price Sheet, and may pass through qualifying manufacturer incentives. You complete the purchase or lease with the dealer, which controls the vehicle, final paperwork and transaction terms.

The program does not promise one universal discount, a specific dollar saving, a particular vehicle or a guaranteed out-the-door price. Costco says actual savings vary by vehicle, dealer and location, and all inventory, incentive and eligibility details must be confirmed with the participating dealer.

How the Costco Auto Program works

Costco’s role is to connect a member with an approved dealer offering prearranged pricing. The dealer remains the seller. Costco’s official disclaimer states: "Costco and its affiliates do not sell automobiles or RVs, or negotiate individual transactions." That distinction explains both the program’s convenience and its limits.

  1. Check availability. Enter your location and vehicle details through Costco’s Auto Program and identify whether a participating dealer and the model you want are available.
  2. Review the dealer’s prearranged price. Costco says the dealer sets the prearranged price. Ask for the personalized Member-Only Price Sheet and check the exact vehicle configuration, stock number, included equipment and expiration conditions.
  3. Check incentives. Manufacturer offers may be added to the prearranged price when you meet the offer’s rules. Registration, a certificate or code, a qualifying delivery date and model restrictions can apply.
  4. Confirm the complete transaction. Before signing, obtain the vehicle price, dealer fees, taxes, registration, optional products, financing terms, trade-in value and delivery timing in writing. These local terms are not settled by Costco’s general program page.
  5. Buy or lease from the dealer. The participating dealer handles the contract, payment, title and delivery. Costco does not complete the sale or guarantee the dealer’s financing or trade-in terms.

Costco describes participating dealers as trained before assisting members and says mystery shoppers monitor the buying experience. Member Advocates are available for questions during the process. Those are descriptions of Costco’s support system, not guarantees of a particular dealer outcome.

What the program includes

Prearranged member pricing

The central benefit is a price arranged in advance between Costco and participating dealers. The goal is to reduce or remove conventional haggling: you request a Member-Only Price Sheet rather than negotiate from a dealer’s advertised starting price. The price is still specific to the vehicle, dealer and location. Costco does not publish one nationwide price or promise a fixed percentage or dollar saving for every member.

Compare the sheet with the vehicle’s window sticker and the dealer’s buyer’s order. Verify whether destination charges, documentation fees, accessories, protection products and other dealer charges are included or added separately. A prearranged vehicle price is not automatically the same as a final out-the-door amount.

New and qualifying pre-owned vehicles

Members can seek new cars, trucks and SUVs through the program. Costco also offers qualifying pre-owned vehicles, but those vehicles must meet program criteria for quality and pricing. Availability depends on the participating dealer and your location; some vehicles can be excluded. A model appearing in a national advertisement may not be stocked by the dealer assigned to your ZIP code.

Manufacturer incentives that meet their rules

Costco says applicable manufacturer incentives can be combined with the prearranged price when the member and vehicle satisfy each offer’s conditions. The amounts below were displayed on Costco’s program materials with the stated validity windows. Offers can change with inventory, so confirm the live terms before relying on them.

Manufacturer offer Published amount and eligible vehicles Key conditions
Volkswagen $1,250 for Executive members or $1,000 for Gold Star/Business members on qualifying purchases or leases of new 2026 Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan and Taos models. Offer shown as valid September 18, 2026, through January 4, 2027. Registration and a certificate or code are required, along with the offer’s delivery-date and other eligibility rules.
INEOS Grenadier Eligible Executive members may receive a $2,000 incentive plus a $1,000 accessories credit on specified new 2026 or 2027 Grenadier vehicles. Offer shown as valid October 1, 2026, through January 4, 2027. Registration, a certificate or code, specified vehicles and delivery requirements apply; inventory can limit availability.

An incentive is not the same as a Costco-funded price reduction. The manufacturer, dealer and offer certificate determine whether it can be applied. Ask the dealer to show the incentive as a separate line on the buyer’s order and confirm whether the accessories credit has its own eligible products or expiration date.

Member support and participating dealers

Costco says approved dealers receive program training before working with members. Its Member Advocates can answer process questions, and Costco says mystery shoppers monitor the buying experience. These features can make it easier to find a dealer and understand the program, but they do not transfer control of the transaction from the dealer to Costco.

Parts, service and accessory discounts

Service benefits are separate from the vehicle price. Costco’s main Auto Program page lists a 15% discount on eligible parts, service and accessories at participating service centers, with savings capped at $500 per visit. Not every Auto Program dealer participates, and the discount applies only to eligible work.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Separate terms describe a one-time 50% discount for certain members who buy or lease through a participating dealer. The member must receive a referral and complete a satisfaction survey within 30 days. The maximum savings are $200 for Executive members and $100 for non-Executive members, and the discount expires six months after it is issued.

Benefit Amount When it applies Important limits
Participating-service-center discount 15% off eligible parts, service and accessories At a participating service center Maximum $500 per visit; exclusions apply and the benefit is not universal.
Qualifying purchase or lease discount 50% off eligible parts, service or accessories One time, after a qualifying program purchase or lease, referral and survey completed within 30 days Maximum $200 for Executive members or $100 for non-Executive members; expires six months after issue.

Work excluded from the 15% discount

  • Work performed at Costco Tire Centers.
  • Tires and oil changes.
  • Airbags and state-mandated vehicle inspections.
  • Work performed previously, or work covered by a vehicle warranty or insurance.
  • Work performed at the time you purchase or lease the vehicle.

The 15% discount cannot be combined with other promotions or incentives. Its maximum is $500, and taxes may be calculated on the pre-discount amount where required by law. Ask the service center to identify eligible line items before authorizing repairs.

What Costco does not include or guarantee

Costco is not the seller or negotiator

The dealer—not Costco—sells the automobile, prepares the contract and receives payment. Costco does not negotiate an individual transaction for you. If the dealer proposes optional equipment, financing products or protection plans, evaluate them as dealer offers rather than Costco benefits.

  • Comprehensive troubleshooting and fault-finding guides to quickly diagnose problems and reduce costly downtime.

No guaranteed savings amount

Costco’s own qualification is that actual savings may vary based on the vehicle purchased, dealer and location. There is no supported program-wide statistic showing that every member saves a particular percentage or dollar amount. The useful comparison is between your personalized price sheet and credible local prices for the same trim, equipment and fees.

No guarantee of a vehicle, dealer or service center

Vehicles are subject to availability, some vehicles may be excluded, and a service discount may not be offered by every Auto Program dealer. A dealer may sell the vehicle before your appointment or be unable to obtain a particular color, drivetrain or package. Get the stock number and a written hold or delivery commitment if timing matters.

No guaranteed out-the-door price, financing or trade-in value

The general program information does not establish a guaranteed final price after taxes and fees, an interest rate, a loan approval, a lease payment, a trade-in value or a delivery date. Request each item from the dealer in writing. Compare financing independently if the dealer’s rate or term is not competitive, and keep the trade-in value separate from the vehicle price while you compare offers.

Service discounts are not cash back

The parts and service offers do not reduce the purchase price, provide cash, or apply automatically to every repair. They are conditional benefits with participating-center, eligibility, timing and dollar limits. A dealer cannot substitute an unused service discount for a vehicle-price reduction unless the specific offer says so.

Questions to answer before signing

Use this checklist with the specific participating dealer. It addresses details Costco’s general page leaves to the local transaction.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • What is the exact stock number, trim, model year, mileage and installed equipment?
  • Does the Member-Only Price Sheet still apply, and when does it expire?
  • Which destination, documentation, electronic-filing, registration and other dealer fees are included?
  • Which manufacturer incentive am I receiving, and what certificate, code, delivery date or membership proof is required?
  • Is the vehicle physically available, and what is the written delivery date?
  • What are the cash price, financed price and lease figures before optional products?
  • What interest rate, term, mileage allowance, acquisition fee and end-of-lease charges apply if leasing?
  • What is the trade-in value, and is it contingent on financing or purchasing add-ons?
  • Does this dealer participate in the 15% service discount, and which repairs qualify?
  • If I qualify for the one-time 50% offer, when will the referral be issued and when does its six-month period end?

How to judge whether the program fits your purchase

It can be useful when you value a simpler process

The program is most useful for a shopper who wants a defined dealer price, help locating participating inventory and access to eligible incentives without conducting every negotiation alone. A Member-Only Price Sheet gives you a concrete starting document, while the dealer network and Member Advocates provide process support.

It still requires normal buyer diligence

You should independently verify the vehicle’s condition, history, equipment and market price. For a pre-owned vehicle, request a history report and an independent inspection where practical. For a new vehicle, check the window sticker, warranty terms and any dealer-installed accessories. The Costco label does not replace a written buyer’s order or your own financing comparison.

Use the right comparison

Compare identical vehicles on the same basis: selling price before tax, mandatory fees, incentives, financing cost and trade-in treatment. A dealer’s low monthly payment can hide a longer term or a larger down payment. A large manufacturer incentive can be offset by unavailable inventory or expensive optional products. The program’s value depends on the complete transaction you can document, not on a headline discount.

Separate Costco membership services

Costco presents an auto and home insurance option through American Family Insurance as a third-party service. That insurance offering is separate from the Auto Program and is not included with a vehicle purchase. Costco also lists Camping World for RV buying, which is a separate service rather than an automobile benefit. Check current terms, availability and eligibility for those services independently.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Current offer timing and verification

The Volkswagen and INEOS offers above were displayed with end dates of January 4, 2027. Because manufacturer programs can change, inventory can disappear and Costco’s pages can update without a conventional publication date, verify the live offer immediately before registering, obtaining a certificate or signing a contract. Confirm your membership tier, the exact model and delivery date, and whether the dealer has recorded the incentive on the final paperwork.

In practical terms, the Costco Auto Program includes access to participating dealers, prearranged member pricing, possible manufacturer incentives, trained-dealer support and conditional service benefits. It does not include a Costco-sold vehicle, a universal discount, guaranteed inventory, guaranteed financing or an automatic reduction in every ownership cost.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
