XPENG (XPeng Inc.) is a Guangzhou-headquartered Chinese automaker and technology company that designs, develops, manufactures and sells smart electric vehicles. It also develops driver-assistance software, an in-car operating system, vehicle electronics and powertrain systems. The company now describes its longer-term strategy as “Physical AI,” but that positioning is an expansion of its ambitions rather than a replacement for its core vehicle business: vehicle sales still supplied most reported revenue.
What is XPeng?
XPENG is an electric-vehicle manufacturer based in Guangzhou, China. Its business combines the activities normally associated with an automaker—vehicle design, engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sales—with substantial in-house software and electronics development.

In its company materials, XPENG says it develops smart electric vehicles and other new-energy vehicles (NEVs). Its engineering scope includes full-stack advanced driver-assistance technology, an intelligent in-car operating system, powertrain components and electrical/electronic architecture. That vertical integration is important to understanding the company: XPENG is not simply assembling cars around third-party software. It presents the vehicle, its digital systems and the data-driven services around them as one technology platform.

What cars does XPeng make?
There is no single global XPENG lineup. Model names, specifications, availability and sales channels vary by country and can change over time. The regional Australian XPENG site accessed in 2026 prominently features the L03, G6 and X9. XPENG’s discussion of its China business in a second-quarter 2026 release also refers to China-market vehicles including the GX and G9L. These references are examples of regional products, not a complete worldwide catalogue.
L03
The L03 is one of the models featured on XPENG’s Australian regional site. Its inclusion demonstrates that XPENG’s export lineup can differ from the vehicles most often discussed in Chinese-market announcements. Buyers should check the local site or authorized retailer for the exact body style, battery, software functions, charging equipment, warranty and delivery status offered in their market.
G6
The G6 is also highlighted in Australia. As with any imported EV, the name alone does not establish identical specifications across countries. Local versions can differ in battery capacity, motor output, charging hardware, driver-assistance activation, connectivity and certification. A specification sheet for one country should not be used to price or configure a G6 in another.
X9
The X9 appears alongside the L03 and G6 on the Australian site, showing that XPENG’s overseas range includes more than one vehicle type. Availability, seating configuration and equipment are market-specific; prospective buyers need the local model page and dealer documentation rather than an international brochure.
China-market models
XPENG’s Q2 2026 corporate update names the GX and G9L in its China-market discussion. Their appearance in an investor release does not mean they are sold in Australia, Europe or every other export market. China and overseas lineups should therefore be described separately when comparing the company’s products.

How to verify a local model
- Open the XPENG website for the country where the vehicle will be registered.
- Confirm that the model is listed for sale, rather than only shown in a global or corporate announcement.
- Check whether sales are direct or handled by a distributor or dealer.
- Read the local specification, warranty, charging and driver-assistance terms.
- Ask the retailer whether software features, parts and service support are available in the delivery region.
How XPeng makes money
Vehicle sales are XPENG’s primary revenue stream. In the company’s FY2025 results, total revenue was RMB76.72 billion. RMB68.38 billion came from vehicle sales, while RMB8.34 billion came from services and other activities. On those reported figures, vehicles generated roughly nine-tenths of revenue, so the company’s technology positioning should not be mistaken for a business already dominated by software or robotics.

The services-and-other category is broader than a subscription-software line. XPENG attributed growth there to technical research and development services performed for a car manufacturer, sales of parts and accessories as its installed vehicle base grew, and carbon-credit trading. These sources can supplement vehicle revenue, but the published breakdown does not establish that they are recurring at the same rate or have the same margins as car sales.
XPeng’s technology business
Driver assistance
XPENG says it develops full-stack advanced driver-assistance technology in-house. “Full-stack” indicates responsibility across software and the underlying vehicle systems needed to run it, rather than only supplying an application. It does not mean every feature is autonomous driving, available on every model or legally permitted in every country. Functionality depends on hardware, software version, local regulation, road conditions and the configuration sold in a particular market.
In-car operating system
The company also develops an intelligent operating system for the vehicle. Such a system can coordinate the infotainment interface, connected services and vehicle functions, but the exact features and update policy are market- and model-dependent. Buyers should distinguish an operating-system capability announced by the company from a specific function included in the vehicle they can order.
Vehicle systems and architecture
XPENG identifies powertrain and electrical/electronic architecture among the core systems it develops. Control over these layers can help an automaker integrate energy management, computing, sensors and software updates. It can also increase engineering complexity and make regional certification and service training more demanding.

Physical AI as a strategy
XPENG’s investor-relations description places chips, world foundation models, integrated hardware and software, smart EVs, robotaxis and humanoid robots under the Physical AI umbrella. This is a corporate strategy and positioning statement. Public references to robotaxis, humanoid robots or future overseas software deployments should not be read as proof that those products are already mass-produced, commercially available or generating material revenue. The FY2025 revenue breakdown shows that cars remain the economic center of the company.

China is XPENG’s home market and manufacturing base. The company has also expanded internationally through a mix of regional operations and dealer or distributor pathways. XPENG reported 45,008 overseas deliveries in 2025, a 96% increase from the previous year, and said it was present in 60 countries and regions at the end of 2025.
In its Q2 2026 release, XPENG said overseas markets generated 25% of first-half 2026 revenue. That is a revenue measure for a stated period, not a claim that one-quarter of all vehicles were delivered outside China. It also should not be merged with the 2025 country count without keeping the dates and definitions visible.
An Australian regional site accessed in 2026 described a footprint spanning 79 countries and regions and more than 1,200 stores. Because those are dynamic site claims with no clear reference date shown, they should be treated as changing corporate-site information rather than a directly comparable continuation of the 60-country figure reported for year-end 2025.

How XPeng’s international model works
Country presence does not automatically mean the same level of retail or service coverage everywhere. In one market XPENG may operate through a local distributor and dealer network; in another it may have a more direct sales and service structure. The practical questions for a buyer are whether the model is legally sold locally, who supplies the warranty, where repairs are performed, how parts are stocked and which software features function in that jurisdiction.

There is not enough published information in the cited company materials to create a reliable country-by-country ranking of sales share, pricing or market penetration. A sensible comparison uses four separate tests:
- Local availability: Is the specific model orderable in the country, or merely mentioned in a global announcement?
- Sales channel: Is the transaction direct from XPENG or through a distributor or dealer?
- Ownership support: Are approved service centers, parts, charging guidance and warranty administration available nearby?
- Scale measure: Are you comparing deliveries, revenue, store count or a country-and-region footprint? These are different metrics.
XPeng’s reported performance
XPENG reported 429,445 vehicle deliveries for FY2025, representing a 125.9% year-over-year increase, according to a company results release issued in 2026. The same release reported RMB76.72 billion in FY2025 revenue. These are company-reported figures and should not be treated as an independently audited market ranking.
For the fourth quarter of 2025, XPENG reported a 21.3% gross margin and net profit of RMB0.38 billion. That net-profit figure applies to Q4 only; it is not a full-year 2025 profit figure. In a later Q2 2026 release, XPENG reported quarterly revenue of RMB19.74 billion and a 20.7% gross margin. Comparing those periods requires care because a quarter can be affected by product launches, delivery timing, incentives, foreign-exchange movements and seasonal costs.
“In 2025, XPENG delivered a total of 429,445 vehicles, representing a 125.9% year-over-year increase. We continue to push the boundaries of Physical AI, accelerating the mass production and commercialization of product innovations as we expand our global footprint,” said Chairman and CEO Xiaopeng He in the company’s FY2025 results release.

Those quotations describe management’s interpretation of the results. They are statements by XPENG executives, not independent verification of the company’s competitive or profitability claims.
What the numbers mean for a potential buyer or investor
For a vehicle buyer
The most relevant evidence is local: a confirmed model, final price, delivery timetable, warranty, charging compatibility and service network. A large global footprint or fast overseas growth does not guarantee convenient support in a particular city. The country-specific model page and written dealer terms matter more than an international headline.
For someone evaluating the company
Separate the established automotive revenue base from forward-looking technology initiatives. Vehicle deliveries and vehicle-sales revenue show the scale of the core operation. Services and other revenue indicate additional activity, including engineering work, parts and accessories and carbon credits, but the FY2025 release does not provide enough detail to value each component independently. Physical AI projects may affect future products and costs, yet the available figures do not show them as a separate material revenue segment.

- “XPENG is only an AI company.” No. It is an automaker whose main reported revenue comes from selling EVs.
- “Every XPENG model is sold worldwide.” No. The L03, G6 and X9 are featured in Australia, while GX and G9L are discussed in China-market materials; availability is regional.
- “A country count equals sales penetration.” No. A presence in countries and regions can include different sales, distribution and service arrangements.
- “Q4 profit proves full-year profitability.” No. RMB0.38 billion was the reported Q4 2025 net profit, not a full-year result.
- “A robotaxi or humanoid-robot announcement is a commercial product.” Not necessarily. XPENG describes several such areas as part of its broader strategy, and commercial status must be established separately.
Bottom line: what XPeng is today
XPENG is a Chinese smart-EV manufacturer with substantial in-house software and vehicle-systems engineering. Its core commercial engine is still vehicle sales: 429,445 deliveries and RMB68.38 billion in vehicle-sales revenue were reported for 2025. International expansion is significant, with 45,008 overseas deliveries in 2025 and overseas markets contributing 25% of first-half 2026 revenue, but country counts and model availability vary by date and definition. The Physical AI label describes where XPENG says it wants to go; the cars and related services explain how the business is currently funded.
