The report documents the visible result, but not a reproducible workshop method. It does not identify the fabricator, body materials, structural reinforcement, glass attachment method or certification. The safest description is therefore a one-off custom-body conversion that retains important Swift hardware and cabin parts while wearing extensively redesigned exterior panels.

What the car is—and what it is not
The word “clone” describes the appearance. This is not a rebadged MINI, a factory-built R58 or a documented conversion kit. It is a Suzuki Swift made to resemble the MINI Coupe, a two-door, two-seat model produced from 2011 to 2015 and related to the second-generation MINI Hatch R56 and MINI Roadster R59, according to Carscoops.

That distinction matters: the listing is evidence of what the seller claimed, not an independent inspection or a manufacturer record. The finished car still reveals its Suzuki origins in several places, even after the body redesign.

The donor platform
Carscoops identifies the donor as a 2011 ZC21S Suzuki Swift. The report does not document a performance conversion. On that basis, it infers that the car likely retains the standard naturally aspirated 1.5-liter gasoline engine and continuously variable transmission (CVT). “Likely” is important here: those mechanical details were not verified by an inspection in the report.
The styling target
The target is the MINI Coupe R58 silhouette: a short, low-looking two-seater with a distinctive roof taper and prominent rear deck. The Swift’s original hatchback shape is fundamentally different, so achieving the visual effect required more than bolt-on bumpers or badges.
What was changed on the Swift
Carscoops describes extensive custom bodywork while noting which Swift components remain visible. The following changes are the parts established by the report.

- Round headlights replace the Swift’s original visual treatment.
- A custom grille, bumper and hood create a MINI-inspired nose.
- The replica does not reproduce every Cooper S-era detail. Carscoops specifically notes the absence of the Cooper S hood scoop, chrome headlight garnish and wheel-arch cladding.
Those omissions are useful clues when identifying the car. It borrows the overall language of a MINI Coupe rather than attempting a component-for-component reproduction.

Roof and rear transformation
The defining alteration is the rear roof. The report says the rear portion of the roof was cut and that the car received a sloping rear window and a fixed rear wing. This is the point at which the project becomes a major body conversion rather than a cosmetic makeover.
The rear also uses MINI-style Union Jack graphic taillights, a custom tailgate and a redesigned bumper with a diffuser. Side skirts and white alloy wheels reinforce the intended proportions. “Swift Sport” decals remain visible, making the donor identity explicit instead of hiding it completely.
Parts that appear to be retained
Carscoops says the windshield, A and B pillars, doors and mirrors are carried over from the Swift. Keeping those pieces can preserve familiar door openings and glazing locations, but the report does not say how the modified rear structure interfaces with them or whether any original reinforcement was changed.

Interior treatment
The cabin is a blend of retrimmed upholstery and untouched Suzuki hardware. The seats and door cards reportedly have leatherette upholstery with diamond-quilted inserts. The Suzuki dashboard and steering wheel remain, and TRD-branded floor mats are fitted. That combination makes the interior look customized without turning it into a factory MINI cabin.

How this type of replica is built
There is no published, step-by-step build manual for this car. Carscoops reports the visible roof cut and redesigned panels but does not identify the builder or explain the fabrication sequence. Any precise claim about whether the roof was fabricated from steel, composite material or another medium would go beyond the evidence.
What can be stated with confidence
- The project began with a Swift identified in the listing as a 2011 ZC21S.
- The exterior was substantially redesigned rather than fitted with a known commercial Swift-to-MINI kit.
- The rear roof area was cut to create a coupe-like profile.
- New or modified rear glazing, a fixed wing, custom tailgate and bumper were part of the visual conversion.
- Several original Swift body and cabin components remain in use.
What is not documented
- The identity or qualifications of the builder.
- The material and thickness of replacement panels.
- How the new roof and rear glass were attached.
- Whether reinforcement, a roll structure or other structural work was added.
- How door seals, water drainage, crash load paths and electrical systems were re-engineered.
- Any test results, engineering drawings or certification records.
Those gaps prevent a responsible description of a definitive “replica recipe.” Two shops could create similar styling with very different structures, materials and workmanship. The photographed appearance alone cannot establish whether the modified shell meets the standards of the original Swift or a factory MINI.
What a shop attempting a similar project would need to plan
The points below are a practical planning framework, not a claim about how this particular car was constructed. A professional conversion would normally begin by documenting the unmodified donor, measuring door and glass openings, and deciding which structural sections may be altered under local law. Before cutting a roof, the shop would need an engineering plan for maintaining shell rigidity, occupant protection and the alignment of doors, windows and tailgate.
After the structural plan, fabrication would involve creating the new roof and rear surfaces, establishing weather seals and drainage, positioning lamps and the wing, and checking that the modified panels clear suspension and hatch mechanisms through their full travel. The final stages would include corrosion protection, paint, lighting alignment, electrical checks and an inspection appropriate to the vehicle’s jurisdiction. None of these steps is confirmed for the Carscoops example; they are the issues a responsible builder must resolve.

Replica versus factory MINI Coupe
The visual resemblance can obscure major differences. A factory R58 was designed and assembled as a two-seat coupe. The Swift conversion starts with a hatchback platform and changes selected body sections while retaining visible Suzuki components.

Mechanical and condition claims
The seller reportedly claimed that the electrical systems work, the engine has no leaks and the interior is clean. These are seller statements repeated in the report, not test results. They should be verified in person or by an independent mechanic before purchase.
Because no performance upgrades are reported, the safest expectation is ordinary Swift performance rather than MINI Coupe performance. Engine output, acceleration, fuel economy, braking changes and suspension specifications are not provided, so they should not be inferred from the styling.
Safety, legality and inspection questions
A roof modification deserves more scrutiny than a bumper swap. The report does not establish what reinforcement was used or whether the altered shell has passed a crash, torsional-rigidity or roadworthiness test. That does not prove the car is unsafe; it means the evidence is insufficient to make a safety claim.

Before viewing the car
- Ask for the VIN, registration documents and the legal description of the vehicle after modification.
- Confirm whether the local authority requires an inspection or approval for roof, glazing and body-structure changes.
- Request photographs taken before paint, especially around the roof cut and rear glass opening.
- Ask which parts are original Swift components and which were fabricated or replaced.
At the inspection
- Look inside the cabin and luggage area for uneven seams, exposed fasteners, corrosion, damp carpet or signs of water entry around the new rear glass.
- Open and close both doors and the tailgate repeatedly. Check that gaps remain even and that latches engage without force.
- Inspect the roof and rear pillars for distortion, ripples or cracking in paint that could indicate movement.
- Test every lamp, indicator, brake light, wiper and demister. Custom rear lighting must be correctly aligned and wired.
- Scan the engine and restraint systems with suitable diagnostic equipment, then check the engine and CVT at operating temperature.
- Have an independent body specialist examine the underside, suspension mounting points and any visible structural joints.
A clean interior or a working radio cannot substitute for evidence that the modified shell was engineered and approved correctly.
Sale details and how to interpret the price
Carscoops reported the car in Sewon, Indonesia, with an asking price of IDR 129,000,000, reported as $7,200, in its October 10, 2026 article. That is a dated marketplace asking price, not a guaranteed transaction value, a current quotation or proof that the car remains available on October 18, 2026. Currency conversion also changes over time, so the rupiah figure is the more precise reference for that listing.
The price should be assessed alongside documentation and workmanship. A custom car can be expensive to repair if replacement panels, glass or trim are unique to the build. Before treating the asking price as a bargain, establish whether the vehicle can be registered, insured and maintained where you live.
Why this one-off is interesting
The appeal is straightforward: it delivers the visual drama of a rare MINI Coupe using a more common Suzuki starting point. The Union Jack-style rear lamps, tapered roof, wing and white wheels communicate the target quickly, while the retained Suzuki dashboard and “Swift Sport” decals reveal the project’s origin.
Its limitation is equally clear. There is no evidence here of a standardized kit, repeatable construction method or independently verified structural and mechanical specification. It should be understood as an individual fabrication project whose quality depends on work that is largely hidden beneath the finished paint.
Bottom line for prospective buyers and builders
This Suzuki Swift-based MINI Coupe clone is best described as a 2011 ZC21S donor transformed with extensive custom bodywork. The rear roof cut, sloping rear glass, fixed wing, custom tailgate and redesigned bumpers create the coupe silhouette; the front receives round lamps and MINI-inspired panels; and the cabin keeps much of the Swift’s original architecture beneath retrimmed upholstery.
What cannot be answered from the available reporting is how the roof was structurally engineered, what materials were used or whether the conversion passed any formal safety inspection. Treat the car as a one-off custom build, verify every seller claim, and require independent structural and mechanical checks before relying on it as a road car.
