“Park” does not have one universal meaning on an AC blower motor diagram. It may identify a vehicle-specific parked-ventilation circuit, an auxiliary HVAC mode used with the engine off, or—on some HVAC control boards—a place for unused blower-speed leads. The label’s location and the equipment’s own wiring diagram determine what it means; do not move or connect a wire based on the word alone.
First, locate where “PARK” appears
Check whether the label is printed on an automotive schematic, an auxiliary HVAC control, or a furnace control board beside blower-speed terminals. Those contexts can describe different things, so identify the make, model, and year and consult the matching diagram before treating “PARK” as a wire terminal or connection instruction.
What “Park” can mean in different diagrams
A vehicle’s parked-ventilation circuit
The 1998 BMW E36 electrical documentation uses “park ventilation” for a vehicle-specific feature. Its diagram shows an automatic climate-control module, final-stage unit, blower motor, blower relay, park-ventilation relay, and on-board-computer vent output. A related E36 HVAC diagram labels the feature “if equipped.” These references describe that car’s circuit; they do not define a general blower-motor terminal. See the 1998 BMW E36 park-ventilation diagram and the related E36 HVAC diagram.
An auxiliary HVAC system’s PARK mode
In the Freightliner Cascadia ParkSmart troubleshooting manual, PARK is a button or operating mode that enables auxiliary HVAC with the engine off. The manual identifies parked blower or fan power through separate relay circuits. Here, PARK describes when the auxiliary system operates, not a generic connection on the blower motor. Consult the Freightliner Cascadia ParkSmart troubleshooting manual for that system.

A control-board terminal for unused speed leads
HVAC advice discussions use “PARK” for control-board terminals where unused blower-motor speed leads may be placed. These are user discussions, not manufacturer instructions. They do not establish which lead belongs on a particular board or how an unused lead should be secured. Do not copy that arrangement to another unit without the unit and motor wiring diagrams. See the HVAC discussion about PARK terminals.
How to identify the right meaning for your equipment
- Note the label’s location. Record whether “PARK” appears on a vehicle schematic near a relay, on an auxiliary HVAC control, or on a furnace board beside speed terminals.
- Identify the equipment. Gather the vehicle or HVAC unit’s make, model, and year, along with the blower motor’s wiring label.
- Match the label to the exact diagram. Use the manufacturer’s wiring diagram or service manual for that equipment and check the legend or description of the circuit.
- Do not infer a connection from the word alone. If the diagram does not clearly identify the lead or terminal, leave the wiring unchanged until you can confirm the correct instructions for that model.
What to provide when asking about a specific wire
To get a reliable answer, provide the equipment make, model, and year; a clear photo of the diagram or control-board label showing “PARK”; and a photo or transcription of the motor’s wiring label. The diagram context matters: the documented E36 and Cascadia examples use “park” in different, equipment-specific ways, while HVAC-board discussions do not establish a universal wiring rule.
