New Atlas reported a starting price of US$749 for the WAU e-bike in October 2018. That price applied to a launch configuration with a 250 W motor and 10.5 Ah battery; it is not a verified current price, and current US availability of that original setup is not established.

What did the WAU e-bike cost?

In its October 15, 2018 launch coverage, New Atlas reported two prices: US$749 for a 250 W version with a 10.5 Ah battery, and US$949 for a 500 W version with a 15.5 Ah battery. These are historical launch prices, not confirmed current retail prices. New Atlas’s 2018 report described the bike as the product of a London-based team.

Launch configuration reported in 2018 Motor Battery Reported price
Entry version 250 W 36 V, 10.5 Ah US$749
Higher-power version 500 W 36 V, 15.5 Ah US$949

New Atlas also described battery options spanning 10.5 Ah to 24.5 Ah. The report does not provide a current price for the larger battery options.

What equipment did the launch bike include?

The 2018 account described a road-style e-bike with an aluminum frame, rear hub motor, removable 36 V battery, Panasonic Pasela road tires, an eight-speed Shimano drivetrain and Tektro disc brakes. Its security, visibility and convenience equipment included:

What range did WAU claim?

New Atlas reported a maximum pedal-assist range claim of up to 100 miles (161 km) with the largest battery option. That was a product claim in the 2018 launch coverage, not an independently verified test result or a guarantee of everyday range. The account does not state riding conditions for that figure.

A later TechRadar electric-bike article dated September 28, 2026 describes a 250 W rear-hub WAU and reports a claimed maximum of 346 km (215 miles) with an additional power pack, alongside five pedal-assist modes, an eight-speed cassette, an anti-tamper alarm, rear lights and geofencing. This is a separately dated description; it does not establish that the bike is the same model or configuration covered in 2018, so the two range claims should not be merged or treated as comparable test results.

Is the 2018 WAU still available?

The sources do not establish current US availability of the original 2018 launch configuration. A retailer in Serbia currently indexes a black Colossus WAU listing as in stock for 79,980 RSD. Its specifications identify a 250 W motor, 48 V system and removable 48 V 20 Ah lead-acid battery, with a stated maximum speed of 25 km/h, hydraulic disc brakes, lights, indicators and alarm. The listing names Colossus Technology as manufacturer and Zom-Impex d.o.o. as producer/importer contact. See the Colossus retailer listing.

That Serbian listing differs from New Atlas’s 2018 description, including in battery voltage and chemistry. It is evidence of a regional WAU-branded listing, not proof that it is the original bike or that the same model is sold in the United States. Its price is in Serbian dinars and should not be read as a US price.

What the launch coverage can—and cannot—tell buyers

New Atlas reported in October 2018 that the crowdfunding campaign had passed twice its goal and that shipping was planned to begin in December if all went to plan. That contemporary expectation does not verify that every backer received a bike or that a delivery program exists now.

For a buyer assessing a WAU listing, confirm the exact model and market, then check motor power, battery voltage, capacity and chemistry, the conditions behind any range figure, included security and lighting equipment, drivetrain and brakes, and the price and compatibility of upgrades. In particular, do not assume that batteries, chargers, racks or electronics described for one WAU-branded bicycle fit another without model-specific confirmation.
