New Atlas reported the project as just getting started on February 23, 2025; that report does not establish whether the trike has since been completed.
What is Grind Hard’s tractor-wheel trike?
It is a proposed three-wheeler built around a giant front wheel, with the rider positioned inside the wheel’s hub rather than above it as on a conventional trike. The plan also draws on Humvee hardware at the rear. New Atlas described the vehicle as being in its early stages in its February 23, 2025 report, so the details below are a snapshot of the proposed build, not confirmation of a finished machine.
How big is the front tractor wheel?
New Atlas identifies the front tire as a 320/105-54 tractor tire and reports its height as 80 inches (204.5 cm), or about 6 feet 8.5 inches. The tire and wheel were reportedly purchased specifically for this project.
The reported rear tires are two 46-inch (117 cm) Mickey Thompson tires left over from Grind Hard’s Monster Chopper project. That makes the front tire 34 inches taller than either rear tire, underscoring how much the layout revolves around the front wheel.

What engine and Humvee parts are planned?
The engine on hand was reported as an older BMW E36 2.5-liter M50B25. New Atlas gives estimates of about 190 hp and 181 lb-ft (245 Nm) for the engine; those are reported engine figures, not measured output from the trike, and the report does not confirm that this is the final installed engine.
At the rear, the plan was to transplant a Humvee assembly described by New Atlas as apparently from an M998 variant, including its rear subframe, brakes and suspension. The vehicle’s final configuration is not established in the report.

What does the gearing estimate mean?
New Atlas discusses the possible rear assembly as though it were stock, citing a 2.73:1 differential reduction and a 1.92:1 hub reduction. Based on those ratios and the engine’s reported torque, the publication estimates more than 900 lb-ft (1,200 Nm) at the trike. This is a conditional calculation—not a measured result—and depends on the rear unit being stock. It does not establish the trike’s actual wheel torque or performance.
Why put the rider inside the wheel?
The unusual seating concept is the build’s defining feature: instead of placing the rider above a front wheel, it puts the rider inside the front hub. Ethan Schlussler, identified by New Atlas as a master builder at Grind Hard, explained the project’s ambition: “I had to do something more ridiculous than the chopper, you know?”

The available February 2025 reporting describes a developing project; it does not verify completion, road legality or ride safety. Interesting Engineering’s February 25, 2025 photo story also characterizes it as a developing Humvee trike project, rather than confirming a completed vehicle. Without newer evidence, the reported dimensions, parts and gearing remain details of the proposed build.
