How much power does the 2026 KTM 690 have?
KTM publishes 79 PS and 73 Nm for both the 2026 690 SMC R and 690 Enduro R. Each uses a 692.7 cm³ single-cylinder, four-stroke engine and a six-speed transmission. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test measurements. KTM’s 2026 690 SMC R specifications and KTM Australia’s 2026 690 Enduro R specifications publish the same headline figures.
Because KTM lists identical output, the published numbers do not show one model as more powerful than the other. They also do not establish a category-wide ranking: the available manufacturer figures are not a consistently measured comparison with every other single-cylinder motorcycle.
What is the difference between the SMC R and Enduro R?
The key distinction is wheel, suspension and chassis setup. KTM describes the SMC R as a supermoto; its 17-inch wheels and lower seat height suit a different riding configuration from the Enduro R’s 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels and longer suspension travel.

Which one is better for supermoto or off-road riding?
Choose the 690 SMC R for its supermoto configuration
The SMC R pairs 17-inch front and rear wheels with WP APEX suspension, 224 mm of front travel and 240 mm at the rear. Its listed seat height is 899 mm, 36 mm lower than the Enduro R’s. KTM identifies the 2026 SMC R as a supermoto on its official model page.

Choose the 690 Enduro R for its enduro-oriented setup
The Enduro R uses a 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear, WP XPLOR suspension, 265 mm of front travel and 250 mm at the rear. Its 265 mm ground clearance is 28 mm greater than the SMC R’s listed clearance; the 935 mm seat height is also higher. These specifications point to the Enduro R’s more off-road-oriented configuration, rather than greater engine output.
Do the published figures prove either bike is the most powerful single-cylinder motorcycle?
No. KTM’s 2026 pages support a precise claim about these two models: both are listed at 79 PS and 73 Nm. They do not establish which single-cylinder motorcycle leads across the market. A defensible category ranking would require comparable, current output figures for the wider class; the manufacturer specifications here do not provide that comparison.

What should owners check before buying or servicing one?
The specifications are for the 2026 models and the linked pages are market-specific. For another model year or country, check the relevant KTM specifications and the bike’s owner’s manual rather than assuming the figures or service requirements are identical. KTM lists Motorex Power Synth SAE 10W-50 as engine oil for both 2026 models; follow the exact manual for your motorcycle.
KTM says its premium manufacturer warranty covers street-legal motorcycles in its street range from model year 2025, subject to regular servicing according to the service plan at an authorized KTM dealer.
