Walmart and Wing plan to bring drone delivery to the Seattle metro area in 2027, but they have not announced a launch date, participating stores or neighborhood boundaries. The plan is part of a wider expansion that also includes Denver; it does not yet show which Seattle-area addresses will qualify.
What Walmart and Wing have announced for Seattle
In an October 5, 2026 announcement, Wing and Walmart said Seattle and Denver would join a broader expansion intended to bring their partnership to nearly 20 major U.S. metropolitan areas. Seattle is a planned 2027 market, not a service area with a published opening day or confirmed coverage map.
Wing says its company-wide expansion target is more than 270 Walmart locations and more than 40 million people by 2027. Those figures describe the planned network overall; they are not estimates of Seattle-area store participation or population coverage.
The announcement names the Seattle metro area but does not specify local stores, neighborhoods, flight routes, delivery fees, flight counts or how many customers in the region might be eligible. Those details should not be inferred from the national targets.

How customers may use Walmart drone delivery
Walmart’s current help information says drone delivery is available only to eligible customers in select markets. Its instructions describe the existing service generally, so they do not guarantee that the same terms, vendors or selection will apply in Seattle when it launches.
- Check the address. Use the address-checking option on Walmart’s website or app. Eligibility depends on the delivery address and its distance from a participating store, as well as the order, weather and vendor rules.
- Confirm the basket. Not every address or item will qualify. The eligible selection is determined for the specific order.
- Choose a delivery location. Walmart’s general description says the customer selects a predetermined spot in a front yard, backyard or driveway. At a Wing-operated site, a cable lowers the package from the drone to the ground.
- Track the order. Walmart says customers can track an order and cancel it before the drone is out for delivery.
Walmart’s general help page says delivery takes up to 30 minutes. That is the stated timing for the service described on that page, not a Seattle launch guarantee or a promise for every order. The same page says that for failed deliveries and post-delivery returns at Wing-operated sites, Wing may issue a refund or promotional code; local terms may differ or change.

How the Seattle plan compares with Amazon Prime Air
“Amazon’s backyard” is a competitive framing, not proof that the two services will serve the same Seattle neighborhoods. Amazon’s 2026 announcement sets out a national ambition, while the Walmart-Wing announcement gives Seattle as a planned metro without a local coverage map.

| How is customer eligibility described? | Walmart says eligibility depends on the customer’s address, basket, distance from a participating store, weather and vendor rules. | Does the announcement establish Seattle overlap? | No. The Seattle launch date, participating stores and neighborhood boundaries have not been specified. | No. Amazon’s national target and distance criterion do not establish that Prime Air will operate in the same places as the planned Walmart-Wing service. |
The available announcements do not support a direct Seattle comparison of price, delivery speed, noise, aircraft capacity or service-area size. The 7.5-mile eligibility description is Amazon’s stated criterion; it should not be treated as a confirmed radius for Seattle operations.
What the FAA material does—and does not—confirm
The FAA’s public involvement and environmental review material includes proposed drone-package-delivery operations in Seattle and operating-hour parameters in the proposal context. It provides regulatory context, but it does not establish that every approval is final or settle the eventual boundaries and operating conditions for Walmart-Wing’s 2027 service.
