California’s CALeVIP Fast Charge California Project Window 2 is scheduled to run from October 7, 2026, through January 14, 2027. It offers up to 100% of eligible installation costs for DC fast chargers, capped at $100,000 per charging port. The cap is not a guaranteed award: projects must meet program rules, be publicly accessible, and be ready to build, including with a final utility service design and required permits.
What California’s $100,000 fast-charger incentive covers
The California Energy Commission (CEC) announced Window 2 of its California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project, or CALeVIP, Fast Charge California Project on May 28, 2026. The funding is for eligible installation costs for DC fast chargers at public sites. The CEC describes support as up to 100% of eligible costs, with a maximum of $100,000 per charging port; neither figure guarantees that a particular project will receive full cost coverage or the maximum award. CEC announcement, May 28, 2026.
The CEC announced $55.2 million in new funding across two incentive windows. GO-Biz lists $55 million available for Window 2, alongside the same dates and per-port maximum. These are the amounts reported by each agency; the directory does not explain the difference between the two totals. GO-Biz California Business Incentives List.
Window 2 dates and how it differs from Window 3
| Window | Scheduled dates | Announced support | Output condition in CEC announcement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Window 2 | October 7, 2026–January 14, 2027 | Up to 100% of eligible installation costs, capped at $100,000 per port | No power threshold stated |
| Window 3 | February 24–May 27, 2027 | Up to $55,000 per port, regardless of power level | Minimum 150 kW |
Window 3 is a separate, later opportunity, not a change to Window 2’s announced cap. The CEC’s current announcement does not state a power threshold for Window 2. CEC window schedule and terms.

Who may qualify, and what project readiness means
The announcement describes eligible projects broadly: publicly accessible sites with DC fast chargers that satisfy program requirements. Potential locations include businesses, public facilities, high-traffic destinations, and sites along key travel routes. The release does not establish a complete list of eligible applicant types or site categories, so applicants should use the current CALeVIP program guide for binding eligibility rules.
Applicants must have a ready-to-build project before applying. The CEC specifically identifies a final utility service design and all required permits as readiness items. A preliminary utility discussion or pending permit should not be treated as meeting those stated conditions.

How to approach an application
The CEC announcement says complete eligibility requirements and application details are available through CALeVIP. It does not, by itself, specify applicant entity rules, eligible line-item costs, equipment certifications, whether funds are paid in advance or reimbursed, or the award-scoring method. Confirm those details in the current Window 2 guide before committing project costs or assuming a project will be funded.
- Confirm the site and charger fit the current guide. Verify public-access requirements, applicant eligibility, equipment rules, and eligible costs with CALeVIP.
- Complete utility and permit work. Have the final utility service design and all required permits in hand to meet the CEC’s stated ready-to-build condition.
- Check the application window and funding status. Window 2 is scheduled for October 7, 2026–January 14, 2027; confirm dates and remaining availability with CALeVIP before submitting.
- Apply through CALeVIP using its current instructions. The program directory lists [email protected] as a contact for the incentive.
The CEC’s August 2025 announcement for an earlier Fast Charge California Project window described caps of $55,000 per port for 150–274.99 kW and $100,000 per port above 275 kW. Those were earlier-window tiers; the May 2026 Window 2 announcement does not repeat them, so they should not be used to estimate a Window 2 award without confirmation in its current guide. Where funding priority is focused
The CEC says priority goes to projects in tribal areas, disadvantaged communities, and low-income areas. It does not publish a scoring formula or promise awards to projects in those locations in the announcement. Applicants should distinguish stated priority from guaranteed eligibility or funding.

In its May 2026 announcement, the CEC reported that the first Fast Charge California Project window awarded $54 million for more than 1,200 ready-to-build ports across 35 counties; more than 60% of those chargers were in underserved communities. Those figures describe the earlier window, not Window 2 awards or a forecast of Window 2 outcomes. CEC announcement, May 28, 2026.
