The most useful ID. Buzz changes are personal rather than universal: arrange the infotainment screen so frequent controls are easy to reach, choose climate behavior for the people in the vehicle, review Predictive ACC and Travel Assist preferences, learn what the B selector position does, and set charging and display views around your routine. The 2025 U.S. Quick Start Guide describes these controls, but equipment and menu labels can differ by model year, trim, software version, and market.
Make touchscreen changes only while safely parked. For complete procedures, warnings, and the equipment fitted to your vehicle, use the owner’s manual in the infotainment system or Volkswagen’s owner resources.

Before changing any setting
Volkswagen’s quick-start material is a starting point, not a substitute for the manual for your specific ID. Buzz. A feature described in the guide may be optional equipment, unavailable in a particular market, or presented differently after a software update. If a control or menu mentioned below is absent, check the vehicle’s equipment list and current manual rather than assuming the function is faulty.

- Park before editing the touchscreen, widgets, climate presets, or assistance settings.
- Keep the driver’s attention on the road once the vehicle is moving; convenience changes should never become a distraction.
- Treat the suggestions as starting points. A layout or climate mode that suits one driver may not suit another driver or passengers.
Put frequently used controls within easy reach
Reorder the infotainment apps
The ID. Buzz touchscreen provides access to phone, media, navigation, climate, vehicle settings, and other functions. Volkswagen allows owners to reorder app icons. Put the functions you use before or during most trips in the easiest-to-reach positions, such as navigation, phone, or climate. This changes access speed and visibility; it does not change how the underlying systems operate.

Use the screen’s edit or customization controls to move the icons, then leave the system in a stable arrangement. Do the work while parked so you are not searching through menus in traffic.
Create widget pages for glanceable information
The system can create widget pages and customize widget functions. Common choices named by Volkswagen include Climate Control, Navigation, Phone, and Radio. Build a page around the information you actually check, rather than filling every space:
- A daily-driving page can combine navigation and climate.
- A family-trip page can keep phone and rear-climate access prominent.
- A media-focused page can place radio and phone controls together without removing navigation from another page.
Widgets are a convenience preference. There is no evidence that one universal arrangement is safer or more efficient for every driver, so favor the arrangement that minimizes the time you spend looking for a control.

Pressing the ID. Cockpit VIEW button cycles between Basic and Simplified views. In Basic view, the steering-wheel arrows can emphasize the driver-assistance or navigation view. Use the view that presents the information you need most often without crowding the display.
The display can show summary information before the drive system is engaged and driving information after it is engaged. Check both states while parked so you know what appears at startup and what changes once you select a driving position.

Set Climatronic around the occupants
Choose AUTO or manual control
Climatronic supports automatic and manual adjustment. In AUTO mode, the system regulates fan speed and air distribution toward the selected temperature. This is a useful baseline when you want the vehicle to manage airflow without constant intervention.
Manual control lets you set the fan speed and air distribution yourself. It is preferable when you need a specific airflow pattern—for example, more air toward the windshield or footwell—rather than the pattern selected automatically.

SYNC applies the driver’s temperature setting across the seats that are linked to it. Use it when occupants want one shared setting. Leave the zones independent when passengers need different temperatures; SYNC is a coordination option, not a comfort rule.
Reach heating and ventilation from the climate controls
Depending on equipment, the climate interface provides seat heating or ventilation and steering-wheel heating. Volkswagen also describes Auto On options in the settings. Because these features are not guaranteed on every ID. Buzz, confirm which controls your vehicle has before planning a routine around them.
Manage the rear climate area
Select REAR to reach the rear climate controls. The rear climate bars can be locked or unlocked. Lock them when you want the front occupants to maintain one setting; unlock them when rear passengers need independent control. The available controls and number of zones depend on the vehicle’s equipment.

Use Smart Climate presets for a specific task
Smart Climate presents task-oriented presets rather than one permanent “best” mode:

- Clear View: directs climate action toward clearing windshield fog or ice.
- Warm Hands: directs warm air toward the steering wheel.
- Fresh Air: brings outside air into the cabin.
- Cool Feet: directs air toward the footwell for cooling.
- Warm Feet: directs air toward the footwell for heating.
- Quick Heating: temporarily increases heating power.
- Quick Cooling: temporarily increases cooling power.
These presets describe where the system sends air or how it temporarily changes output. They are not proof of a particular energy-use, range, or comfort result for every weather condition and passenger group.
Review driver-assistance preferences before relying on them
Find the assistance settings
The infotainment Assist Systems app or menu provides access to driver-assistance settings described in Volkswagen’s guide. Review the options while parked and read the vehicle-specific warnings before changing them.
Understand Predictive ACC options
Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control can use detected maximum permitted speeds and route features such as curves, roundabouts, and intersections. The relevant options affect how the system responds to that information when Adaptive Cruise Control or Travel Assist is in use.
Enable only the responses you understand and want. A setting that reacts to a detected speed limit or route feature can change the way the vehicle manages speed, but it cannot guarantee that a sign, map detail, road layout, or temporary restriction will be detected correctly. The driver remains responsible for observing signs, traffic, weather, and road conditions.

Know the Travel Assist prerequisite and responsibility
Volkswagen’s guide states that Lane Assist must be enabled for Travel Assist to work. Travel Assist is semi-automated assistance, not autonomous driving. Keep your hands, attention, and judgment engaged, and be prepared to steer, brake, or cancel the system immediately. Assistance features do not replace an attentive driver.
Check whether parking and lighting functions are fitted
Volkswagen describes Park Distance Control, Maneuver Braking, and Light Assist as available equipment. Their presence and behavior depend on the exact vehicle. If you do not see a related control, verify the equipment rather than treating its absence as a settings error. When fitted, learn the warnings and operating limits in the manual before using these systems in tight spaces or changing light.
Understand the B selector position
The gear selector’s B position is labeled Energy Recuperation in the Quick Start Guide. To select it, rotate the selector forward twice; rotating it forward once selects Drive. This is a selector-position choice, not a menu of separately adjustable regeneration strengths.
The reviewed guide does not establish multiple regeneration levels that the driver can fine-tune through a setting. Do not assume that B produces a specific efficiency, range, or one-pedal-driving result in every situation. Use the position described in the manual for your vehicle and continue to control speed with the accelerator and brake as conditions require.

Set charging locations and battery targets
The Charging menu described by Volkswagen can store charging locations, set a maximum or high-voltage battery state of charge, and prioritize charging sessions. These controls are useful when your home, workplace, and regular public-charging stops have different routines.

Choose a battery target appropriate to the charging plan and the options shown in your vehicle. The guide does not establish a universal target that maximizes range, battery life, or charging speed for every owner, so avoid treating one number as a general rule.
Prioritize a charging session when timing matters
Use the menu’s priority function when one charging session matters more than the normal schedule. Confirm the selected location and target on screen before leaving the vehicle. Charging behavior can depend on the charger, connection, schedule, and vehicle software, so verify the actual status in the vehicle rather than assuming a priority selection has completed charging.
Select the information view you can read quickly
The ID. Cockpit offers multiple information views, including a summary before the drive system is engaged and driving information after it is engaged. Cycle through the available views while parked and select the one that presents the information you need with the least visual searching.

What to do when a setting is missing or behaves differently
- Confirm the vehicle identity: check the model year, trim, market, and installed equipment.
- Check the software and manual: menu names and screen layouts can change with updates; use the manual stored in the infotainment system or the current owner resources.
- Look for the feature in the correct area: climate functions are under the climate interface, assistance functions under Assist Systems, and charging options under Charging.
- Check whether another control is required: Travel Assist depends on Lane Assist being enabled, and some comfort functions require the relevant hardware.
- Stop if the behavior is unexpected: do not rely on an assistance, charging, or climate function until the manual explains its status and limits.
A practical first setup
Start with changes that reduce searching rather than changes that promise a performance gain. While parked, arrange the home screen and one widget page, choose an ID. Cockpit view you can read easily, and set AUTO or manual climate control according to the occupants. Then review Predictive ACC and Travel Assist options without enabling anything you cannot supervise. Finally, inspect the Charging menu and learn the B selector position so both are familiar before a trip.
Revisit the arrangement after several drives. Keep the controls you use often in easy reach, leave passenger zones independent when needed, and treat every assistance feature as supervision help rather than a replacement for driving.
