Which cars are in the Electric Urban Car Family?

Volkswagen Group said it presented the complete four-model family together for the first time at IAA Mobility in Munich in September 2025. In that presentation, the ID. CROSS was a concept, the Epiq was a physical concept, and the ID. Polo and Raval appeared as camouflaged series vehicles. The Paris event was scheduled for the following year, so it should not be described as the family’s first joint appearance.

The group’s event page scheduled an investor update at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris for 12 October 2026, the opening day of the 2026 Paris Motor Show. Its planned agenda included the Electric Urban Car Family, battery technology and electrification, financial services, vehicle experiences and test drives, and a question-and-answer session. The schedule establishes that the update was planned; it does not by itself confirm what took place. Volkswagen Group’s Paris Motor Show event page lists the date and agenda.
How are the four models different?
Volkswagen ID. Polo
The ID. Polo is the family’s hatchback carrying Volkswagen’s established Polo name. In June 2026, Volkswagen Group said production had begun at Martorell and published a WLTP range of up to 454 km. The range is a manufacturer-published figure; it is not an independent road-test result. The group also said the Polo nameplate had sold more than 20 million times historically, a figure attributed to the manufacturer.

CUPRA Raval
The Raval is the other hatchback, positioned by CUPRA as sporty and unconventional. Volkswagen Group described it as about four metres long, said production began at Martorell, and put its range at around 450 km. The group said its market launch followed in summer 2026; the announcement does not supply delivery totals or evidence of consumer demand.
Škoda Epiq
The Epiq is a city SUV concept. Volkswagen Group presented it as an everyday vehicle for families and lifestyle-oriented customers. The cited announcements do not establish that it was already on sale.

Volkswagen ID. CROSS
The ID. CROSS is an SUV concept in the group’s descriptions. It adds an SUV format alongside the Epiq, while the ID. Polo and Raval are hatchbacks. The cited material does not establish a retail launch or final production specification for the ID. CROSS.
These distinctions are the group’s own positioning. The cited material does not provide a like-for-like independent test or a complete set of comparable specifications for all four cars.

What shared technology and figures has Volkswagen Group announced?
Volkswagen Group says all four vehicles use the further-developed MEB+ electric platform and that the family is the first to use its new unified cell in the battery. The group also cites standard DC fast charging, connected services, an integrated charging planner and driver-assistance technology. The announcement does not fully specify availability by model, market, trim or final production configuration, so these should be treated as family-level manufacturer statements rather than a guarantee that every feature appears identically in every vehicle.

These numbers are not directly interchangeable: the family price and range are broad group figures, while the ID. What is established about the market launch?
The available company announcements establish that production of the Raval and ID. Polo began at Martorell and that the Raval’s market launch followed in summer 2026. They do not establish sales success through bookings, deliveries, market share or customer-reception data. They also do not show that all four models were on sale by the Paris event date. “Successful” is therefore not supported as a measured result by the cited information; production milestones and launch timing are the substantiated points.
