The Vistabule Daytripper is a compact teardrop trailer built primarily as a sleeping cabin: its rear galley and side doors are gone, and a large rear hatch serves as the entry. Vistabule’s reported base weight is approximately 900 pounds, but that is not the trailer’s loaded towing weight. What is the Vistabule Daytripper?
The Daytripper is a 12-foot (3.7 m) overall teardrop trailer described in New Atlas’s March 27, 2024 launch report as a small sleeping space rather than a self-contained camping setup. Vistabule presents it as a simpler alternative to its larger, more outfitted trailer. Its defining design choice is to remove the rear galley and conventional side doors, leaving the cabin more open and making the rear hatch the main way in.
Vistabule author Trenton Burns put the entry arrangement plainly: “The DayTripper is hatch-entry only.” That distinction changes daily use: entering and exiting means using the rear hatch, rather than a side door beside the bed.
How much does the Vistabule Daytripper weigh?
Vistabule lists an approximate base package weight of 900 lb (408 kg) and an estimated tongue weight of 140 lb. New Atlas also reported the 900-lb base figure in 2024. These are published approximate figures, not a loaded scale weight for a trailer carrying a particular owner’s gear.

For towing, the number that matters is the actual loaded trailer weight, along with the load carried at the hitch. Bedding, camping equipment and any owner-added systems add weight. Check the tow vehicle manufacturer’s towing and tongue-weight limits, and account for occupants and cargo in the vehicle as well; the 900-lb base figure alone cannot establish that a particular small car is a safe match.
What are the Daytripper’s cabin dimensions?
Vistabule reports the cabin at 92 inches long, 58.5 inches wide and 44 inches high. New Atlas also gave the 92-inch (234 cm) length and 44-inch (112 cm) height. Those are cabin dimensions, not overall trailer dimensions. The relatively long sleeping cabin is part of the appeal of removing the galley, while the 44-inch height describes a compact interior rather than standing room.

Does the Daytripper have a kitchen?
No built-in rear galley is described in the published layout. The rear hatch is the principal entry, rather than a kitchen hatch opening onto a galley. Campers should plan to bring or arrange their own cooking setup and decide where food preparation will happen at the campsite; the available source material does not establish a supplied stove, sink or water system.
What comes with the base package, and what must owners provide?
New Atlas’s 2024 report says the base package includes a mattress, along with selected ventilation, lighting and storage features. It also reports that the trailer has no hard-wired power system. Vistabule’s concept points toward portable power, but the published information cited here does not specify a power-station model, capacity or compatibility.

The practical implication is that the Daytripper is a cabin to configure around a trip, not a complete kitchen-and-power package. Owners should plan for cooking, water, power and the rest of their campsite equipment according to their needs. The simpler specification can mean fewer built-in systems to maintain, but it also shifts more planning and gear choice to the owner.
How does a galley-free teardrop compare with a conventional teardrop?
A conventional teardrop often pairs a sleeping cabin with a rear kitchen accessed through a hatch. The Daytripper instead makes that hatch the cabin’s entry and omits the galley and side doors. The choice is less about one design being universally better than another than about whether a camper wants a ready-made layout or a more open cabin to outfit personally.

Is a galley-free trailer the right fit?
The Daytripper’s layout is most compelling for a camper who values a compact sleeping cabin and is comfortable building the rest of the campsite setup around it. Before choosing a trailer in this category, consider:
- Whether rear-hatch-only entry suits how you will get in and out of bed and access your gear.
- Whether you want to bring a separate cooking arrangement instead of using a built-in galley.
- How you will handle water and power, including whether portable equipment fits your trips.
- Whether your tow vehicle can safely handle the trailer’s actual loaded weight and tongue load, within its published ratings.
- Which features and options are included in the specific configuration offered at the time you shop; the launch-era price and option status are not a current quote.
What is known about the Daytripper’s price and availability?
New Atlas reported a US$14,995 starting price in its March 27, 2024 article and noted that Vistabule was still finalizing options and its online configurator at that time. That is a historical launch figure, not confirmation of today’s price, current availability or present-day equipment packages.
