Faisalabad’s electric-bus service launched on September 29, 2025; it is not still awaiting its start. Radio Pakistan reported an initial plan for 30 buses on seven major routes, with a Rs 20 fare. The launch reports name two corridors, but they do not establish a complete route list or today’s timetable.
When did Faisalabad’s electric buses start?
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the service on September 29, 2025. Radio Pakistan described 30 buses as the initial fleet, planned to operate on seven major city routes, at a fare of Rs 20. Which Faisalabad routes were announced?
The launch coverage does not provide a consistent, complete route map. Radio Pakistan reported seven major routes. A same-day Associated Press of Pakistan report said buses would initially run on two major routes and named these corridors:
- Yousaf Town to Sagle City: 22 km, according to APP.
- University Roundabout to Sadhar: 18 km, according to APP.
The reports do not explain whether those two corridors were part of the seven, reflected an initial operating stage, or used a different route grouping. What is the fare, and are there concessions?
Both launch reports gave a Rs 20 fare. Radio Pakistan’s September 2026 coverage of Punjab’s broader electric-bus policy also reported a Rs 20 flat fare and free travel for students, women, senior citizens and persons with special needs. That province-wide announcement does not establish whether every concession, its eligibility rules or its implementation applies to Faisalabad’s service today. Confirm locally before relying on a free-fare entitlement.
What is known about timings and stops?
The cited launch reports do not establish current first or last departures, service frequency, stop locations, operating days or interruptions. They also do not verify that the initially announced routes and fleet remain unchanged. Check with the relevant local transport authority for current travel information before setting out; the available sources do not support a reliable timetable or complete current route map.

What buses and facilities were announced?
The launch plan cited by Radio Pakistan was for 30 first-phase buses. Separately, Punjab Transport Company’s FY 2025–26 procurement plan listed 86 electric buses in 9-metre and 12-metre sizes for Faisalabad. A procurement-plan figure is not proof that all 86 were delivered or operating, and it should not be added to the 30-bus launch figure as if they describe the same fleet at the same time. APP reported that buses at launch would have Wi-Fi, mobile charging and CCTV, alongside separate compartments for women and reserved seats for senior citizens and disabled passengers. It also reported dedicated charging stations. These are launch-reported facilities, not independent confirmation that each feature is available on every bus today.

How does Faisalabad fit Punjab’s wider electric-bus plans?
In September 2026, Radio Pakistan reported a provincial target of 3,000 electric buses by June 2027. The announcement included plans for 1,500 buses across 91 tehsils beginning in January 2027 and another 1,100 for smaller districts and regional headquarters.
